Chapter 3
The woman looking at me was the one from before. The one with long curly brown hair that went down past her shoulders. She looked at me with golden eyes. They were like mine. Her brown skin exactly like mine and her smile equally as warm as she made me feel. The connect I felt to her was calming but also unsettling.
"Oh don't worry. You're body is still in the car. You're mind is just with me. I'm sure you forgot everything I told you when I made you." She said sitting down in front of me. My back pressed up against a tree that I had leaned back into.
Her long white dress open in the front so you can see her legs. However the back was long and brushed against the ground. Her dress sparkles in the light. It was strapless and semi backless. Her hair covered most of her back and she smelled of flowers. Maybe that was because of crown of roses as red as her lips that sat on her beautiful mane of hair.
"You remember who you are yet? Your mission? Have you found the others yet?" She asked looking at me while placing a hand on the ground. A rose appeared and grows around her fingers. It was amazing but I'm pretty sure that wasn't normal. Neither was suddenly appearing in a forest when you fell asleep in a car. However I figured my life would be more of this. Shaking my head in response to her questions.
"You are my tribute. However I think of you more as one of my children. You are a product of a long lineage of Summers before you." She said as she stood up. She gestured behind her as being appeared. They are seemingly made out of the light itself.I'm guessing these people are were all the previous summers that she was referring too. Gender varied amongst each face I looked at before it quickly vanished and became a new one. Each seemed to share similar traits. Golden eyes being one and curly hair. She then looked at me as they all disappeared as quick as they came.
"You are the one who will continue the legacy of all the previous summers. You will protect the season that you embody against all forces of destruction. You are my child." She said as she gotten close to my face to look me in the eye. Her hands touching my chin to secure my gaze. Her brown skin like mine. I looked over every feature to take it in. Every freckle she had 27 I could see.
She let go standing back up again. Her dress dragging on the ground. She pointed to the sky. "You are currently astral projecting into the Summer Legacy. It's a dimension of its own. All previous summers live in the vastness of this world. One that died in battle or old age. Everyone has their own space in this dimension. You will be able to come here when you're awake when you get stronger. For now you can reach this world in your dreams. You can talk to any previous Summer about their lives. I will even teach you how to summon a summer that can answer your question the best. However since I passed the torch to you. It will always be easiest to contact me." She said gesturing to the world around her.
She reached her hand out to help me. Quickly taking it and feeling the strength of Victoria pulling me up to my feet. Watching her as a smile creeped as she turned around quickly and began to run through the forest. Guessing I was supposed to follow. My feet moved on their own again as my arms followed suit as I sprinted after her. Feeling the wind in my hair as my feet pushed me forward. The energy flowed through my body and I could feel myself smiling. Turning to see she was next to me. My mother Victoria was obviously faster but she had slowed down so I could keep up.
The woods around us slowed down. Butterflies wings beats almost frozen in the air. Falling leaves floated in place. Everything was beautiful to the eyes. All the flowers and creature in the forest seemed at peace and rest. Brought out my thoughts by Victoria stopping abruptly but her hand had grabbed me so I abruptly shocked out of a high speed run. Her other arm bracing my head in neck as she pulled my into a embrace. She gently turned my head to see why she had stopped.
There was a opening to the forest that spread out into a beach a clean sandy beach. The crystal blue water reflected the light from the two suns I just now noticed. Beyond the water not too far off was an tower made of stone. It had a small circle of land which seemed to be a garden surrounding it. The tower had windows and at the very top also seemed to be a garden with many red trees on top and a glowing white orb floating above it all.
"Forgive me for the architecture. I'm old school. Probs why it was time for a new summer." She said with a small laugh. She then began walking directly towards the tower. She seemed unconcerned about the fact that she would have to at least swim the length of a football field in a dress. However she proved me wrong when she stepped on the water and didn't sink. She took a few steps in front of her with her dress dragging like the waters surface was a solid. She then realized I wasn't behind her I'm guessing and turned around to look at me in the eyes.
"Well come along." She said with with a gesture. My face must have shown my disbelief in the idea that I could in fact walk on water. She sighed with her arms crossed.
I looked at her. I felt at ease in her arms. Then my mind drifted back to my sleeping body in James' car. She seemed to notice the fact and sighed. Once on the solid ground she carried me through the trees. To a small clearing. She then put me down.
"I will be waiting for your return. Each time I will explain more and more to give you time to process. For now, I will give you full access to some knowledge of language and some basic abilities just incase." She said. She then leaned down and her ruby red lips kissed my forehead. I felt a tingle and then.......
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I felt the car stop and the engine turn off. I opened my eyes a little dazed on what was going on. As my senses became more and more aware of my location and what was going on. I turned my head and made eye contact with James.
"Oh you're awake. I was gonna carry you upstairs. I went to the store but you were knocked out. So I carried you around then placed you back in the car so we could get home." He said with a small chuckle. I felt relieved. The whole thing with Victoria was a lot to take in at one moment.
The light click of the door as he opened in and got out the car. He closed it and then went to the back. I had been watching him open it. So I knew how how. I pulled the silver handle and pulled it. Getting out like I saw him do. I shut the door and watched him pick out brown bags out the back of the car. It was cold we where. It was considerably darker but it wasn't night time. Every sound seemed to echo a lot and it was damp. I walked over to James. I saw other cars in the area. I went over and touched his leg. He looked down at me and seemed to know me question without having me ask.
"We are in the basement of my apartment building. This is were we leave our cars. We are gonna take a elevator to my apartment. I have a spare room. You can sleep there." He said.
Quickly making our way to the elevator then up to his floor. I felt the box that we were in moving but I didn't see any change until the doors opened. We went down a long hallway. It had a good and black stripped carpet pattern and night lights. The occasional picture by unknown artist hanging up on walls. He made me pass light grays before we stopped at one. It had a golden metal on top. It read "300". I looked at James who inserted something into the door then it opened. He generally pushed me inside and then closed the door.
I was in a small hallway. That immediately after two steps opened up to a large room. A set of light gray stairs that seemed to be floating went up. It was too my left. In front of me was couch then behind that was a huge window covering from floor to ceiling. I turned to my right to see the kitchen and dining room area. Both open and spacious. I saw a flat black rectangle next to the couch. There were different items of furniture and paintings. The house seemed to be themed around black, gray and white. However there were a few other colors that stood out. Like the red flowers on the table in the living room. They were Incase in a black vase. Jumping slightly when I heard clangs behind me. Immediately turning around to see James casually putting things away. He didn't seem to be worried and wasn't looking at me so I calmed myself.
Turning to the stairs. My curiosity getting the better of me. Carefully walking up the stairs. Not entirely trusting them to support my weight. Even if it was apparently insignificant considering Victoria and James both lifted me and carried me around like I weighed nothing. When I reached the summit. I was much higher than James and I could see the top of his head. There was another hallway entrance. There were four doors. They all seemed the same so I guess I would have to open them to find out what was inside.
Quickly checking. The first door on the left was not to big. I could lay down in it and be able to stretch out but it didn't seem like a room used for sleeping. It had clothing hung up on the left and right side and a lot of shelves on the walls and shoes perfectly aligned on the floor. I checked the other room behind me. It was plain it had white walls keeping in line with the theme of the house. It had a bed placed against the wall and a nightstand next to it. There was also a black rectangle in this room. It was in front of the bed it was propped up on another large piece of finitudes. There were windows in this room. However not as big. A plant sat in the window sill.
Not seeing anything of particular interest after that I turned around to check the last two doors. I walked and went to the next. I opened it and the lights turned on. There was black tiled floors. There was a bowl of water next to a glass tank. This tank seemed to have a chair that you could lay down on made of rocks. There was a hole in the floor. There was a big tub with a hole in it similar to the tank it was white and was big enough to fit a few people. There was a few other things in the room. A black rectangle hanging from the walls. Two mirrors, one a full body mirror and the other above another bowl. This bowl was taller than the first, didn't have water in it and had a hole at the bottom like everything else.
I walked out this room and went to the last door. Inside there was clothes everywhere on the floor. There was a bed so it seemed in the middle of the room. There was a rectangle so I figured they were in every room or the house for some reason. They must serve some purpose. There was a nightstand a few painting. A large furniture piece like the one in the last room and a full body mirror. I walked over to it. I looked at myself.
Warm brown skin with little darker spots on my face. They were there but barely noticeable. My eyes looking back at me. A golden color like a sea of molten glitter. My hair curly and dark. It was darker than my skin it was black. I sighed and breathed in my nose was roundish and my chin wasn't sharp. My fingers traced my jawline as it wasn't as sharp as James. I was guessing it would get there. I locked eyes with myself studying them. They weren't like everyone else's I saw. Usually their eyes were a dark brown or blue. I touched the mirror and my eyes widen when what I was looking at changed. I didn't know if this was supposed to happen with a mirror. It looked similar to me. However it was a bit lighter, had more prominent freckles, silver eyes, curly hair but a white streak in the very front. I kept staring at a minute as it echoed the same shocked expression I knew I had on my face. It tilted its head and was about to speak.
"HEY KID COME DOWN! I'M MAKING FOOD!!" James calles from downstairs. Jarring me from what I was looking at I pulled away and looked towards the exit. Whipping my head back to the mirror what or whom I was looking at was gone......
