Chapter 48 : Thanksgiving Occurence

I woke up on a really comfortable bed, and when I turned around to face the other, my eyes widened when I saw Jimin's face.

To my surprise, I shrieked and fell from the bed.

I immediately caressed my bottoms and gently massage it with my right hand once it hurts in pain. My eyes then stopped over my kneecap, there's a bandage on top of it.

Last night was a blur. I can't remember anything.

I'm in my sleeping clothes, and I'm in Jimin's room. "Can you please stay quiet?" Jimin groaned.

"What happened last night?" I ask him and stand on my feet. He is cuddling a white pillow, his face on top of it, making his cheeks puffier.

"You were drunk, and you fell down from your balcony." He says in a sleepy tone.

"I did what?!" I chirped.

"You heard what I said." He huffs and turns to the other side.

What am I going to say to my parents if I go back now? Where's my phone? I looked around Jimin's room but I only saw his phone. I glance at his alarm clock and it's already nine in the morning.

My parents are probably awake by now.

To my frustration, I shake Jimin's body and wake him up. I can hear him groan and he's trying to shove my hands away but since he is still sleepy, my movements are quite faster.

"What?" He abruptly sits down on his bed. His gray hair is like a bird's nest but he immediately placed his hand on his head and brush the mess off of his hair.

"Help me?" I awkwardly asked. He then rolled his eyes and sighed before getting up.

=====

Jimin let me borrows his hoodie, shoes, and some sweatpants. I looked like a guy while wearing it. He also wore the same clothes and he looks good in it.

He came up with a plan that we should act as if we jogged together in the morning. That way my parents will not wonder why I'm out early in the morning.

"Why were you drinking last night?" He asks while tying his shoelace and I'm watching him do it.

"The wine tastes good. I didn't realize I was already drinking too much." I explained. He didn't say anything back. Once he's done, I was about to go out the door and pull our stunt, but he stops me by holding one of my arms.

"Where are you going?" He asks.

"Jogging." I used air quotes.

"Do you think they will believe you?" He asks and I furrow my forehead at his question. "You look like you just woke up. For a liar, you're not doing very well." He clicks his tongue. His statement made me look down at his feet.

"C'mon, let's do fifty jumping jacks." He instructs and taps my arm.

"What? Do you want me to die?!" I bellowed.

"Shit, I forgot you're asthmatic. Let's do twenty-five instead." He bargains and I have no choice but to agree.

We are already at our nineteenth jump and I'm starting to run out of oxygen in my body. Beads of sweat start to form from my head and will eventually fall down on my face.

Jimin isn't catching his breath. He is not sweating at all. Is he even human?

Finally, we reached the twenty-fifth jump and I sat down on the floor, my shoulders going up and down.

Jimin dashes through his kitchen and later on, he is holding a glass of water and that pouch of red ginseng extract.

Oh no.

As expected he gives me the water... and the pouch of red ginseng. "Drink up." He tells me. I give him a wry smile before tearing the pouch first and sipping it in one go.

When I finished drinking the extract, I chugged down the water.

"Don't." He waves his index finger in front of me once I was about to just wipe off the sweat on my forehead but he stops me.

Looks like I'm gonna take a bath earlier today.

We used the backdoor of Jimin's house and pretended that we jogged from somewhere while we walk down the streets towards my house.

When I turned the knob, it's locked. I have no choice but to knock and let someone open the door for me.

That someone was mom, the look on her face says that she's enraged but then when she saw Jimin behind me, she faked a smile. "Where did you came from, young lady?" She asks.

"I went jogging with Jimin," I explained, when I looked at Jimin he is smiling at my mom.

"Why did you not tell us?" My mom interrogates.

Instead of me answering, Jimin started speaking. "It was unpremeditated Mrs. Austin, I called her early in the morning in hopes that she would want to jog around the place." And Jimin saves.

I look at him with a smile but he barely returns it.

"Okay. By the way..." Finally, mom changes the topic, she's not mad anymore. "Are you spending Thanksgiving somewhere?" My mom asks.

No.

"Elise told me yesterday that you're actually inviting me to dinner and I already said yes." He says and looks at me with a confused look, my lips formed a straight line.

"Oh, that's good!" My mon squealed, thank goodness. "I'm asking you over for dinner anyways." She adds. "Did you have breakfast already?"

"Yes."

"No, we haven't." My answer was opposite to Jimin's and he glares at me but then he eventually looked at my mom with a smile.

"Come inside and eat, I made pancakes." She says.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Austin but I have to go to my friend's house today." Jimin puts up an excuse.

"Ooh, which friend? Yoongi? Hoseok?" I asked and he pierces another look at me.

"It's out of town." He lies and beams at my mom again. "But I'll be back again here for dinner." He tells us and my mom nods at him.

He eventually leaves the front door and I marched my way inside our house. "I don't remember you having clothes like that." My mom eyes me from head to toe and I smile nervously.

=====

The clock strikes eight and it's the start of our simple Thanksgiving dinner. Jimin arrived ten minutes earlier but my mom wanted to stick to the plan. It's not like we're waiting for more people to come.

I think my mother wanted Jimin here because she knows that he lives alone. She must have thought that it's sad to celebrate Thanksgiving without anyone.

I love my mom.

The rest of the dinner went well, the whole situation is just a little different from last year's.

Instead of Jimin, Ryan was here. He always celebrates Thanksgiving with us, not until now.

I don't know what to feel about it.

I can't believe that things can change drastically in just a blink of an eye.

"So Jimin, are you dating anyone?" My dad asks. I swear, I almost choked on my food but I immediately grabbed my water. Fortunately, no one notices it, except for Serene who is giving me wide eyes.

"I want to date, but this girl won't let me date her properly." Is he talking about me or someone else? Either way, I will still feel the same way right now.

Uncomfortable.

"Why?" My mom asks. She slices another piece of the turkey meat and placed it on Sean's plate.

"I don't know." He starts. "She lies too much, and I hate people like that." He is not looking at anyone, his gaze is still upon his food.

Did he just say that he hates me?

"Well, if she's like that. She's not worth the time." Dad jokes and we all laughed, except for me who only did it forcibly.

"Look at Ryan and Elise, they've been together for almost two years. Trust and communication is the best key to a relationship." Mom says, making Ryan and me as her example. Can she just use their love story? Everything is going too difficult for me to hear.

"Now if that girl lies too much, how can you trust her?" My mother asks and I look at Jimin and he is nodding at her as if he is agreeing with my mom. He is not even sparing me a glance.

Little did my parents know that they are talking about me. Now I know their insights about a liar. They would definitely disown me if they knew the truth. That I was pulling one's leg. Not just one, but two.

Jimin and Ryan.

I know that they will be disappointed at me if they knew, but I'm sure as hell that they will be more disappointed at themselves, they'll blame themselves for not raising me up as a better daughter.

But if I'm being honest it's all on me. They don't have anything to do with it. I am the one making choices in my life. I don't want my parents to feel that way, because they did great things to me.

It sucks that I'm repaying them in this kind of way.

"I like her." My heart stops as the words escaped Jimin's lips and I just silently chew on my meal. "I think she likes me too but she's having a hard time admitting that to herself." He chuckles a sad one.

I do like him. But I don't know if that would be enough for me to leave Ryan behind.

"She's stubborn." He laughs, still looking down on his plate. I glared at him and was about to elbow him but I remembered that they do not know who he is talking about and I'm not sure if it's really me that he referring to.

Well, he says she lies too much. That's enough reassurance. I know I'm a liar, and I won't deny that.

"What's her name?" Dad asks.

"Eli—"

I dropped my fork to cause a scene. "Oh sorry." I acted apologetic with my table etiquette. I immediately bent down to grab it but Jimin continues.

"Her name is Eli." When I sit properly again, I looked at him and he is smiling.

"That's a cute name, that was almost Elise's nickname." My mom giggles.

Geez mom, that Eli is actually me.

After dinner, I walked Jimin back to his house. It's not that he wanted me to walk him, but I'm the one who insisted on it.

"So, Eli huh?" I finally speak while we're on our way to his house.

"Shut up." He hisses and I laugh. "You know it's dangerous for you to walk alone at night." He tells me.

"Our houses are only a walking distance from each other." I reasoned out and he shakes his head in disapproval. He stops midway and faced me.

"Elise, I'm serious." It looks like he really is. "Go home, it's already late. I can manage myself, I'm a man after all." He arrogantly says and I roll my eyes.

"Can I stay at your house?"

"What?" He asks, I know he clearly heard what I said. "No, you're going home." He holds both of my shoulders and he turns my body to the direction of our house.

When he is not holding me anymore I turned around again. "Please?" I say.

"What are you even going to do there anyway?" He sighs.

I hummed as I think of an idea. "I don't know. Maybe beat you on a video game?" I challenged.

"You don't like video games, Elise." He points out, which is actually true. I'm just creating a reason so that he'll allow me to stay at his house for a while.

"Please? I'll leave as soon as you beat me." His face lightens up. "Ten times," I added and his shoulders went down.

"Fine." He finally gives in and I squealed in excitement as I pulled him into his own house.

I hope the night ends in a good note. I don't like Jimin being cold to me.

I want the old Jimin back.

The one that I like.
