Chapter 44 : Good News, Bad Idea
"I heard Jimin will be back for Thanksgiving," Lana whispers in my ear.
We decided to ditch school and have a friendly date instead. We were both complaining about how boring our classes were.
To be honest, I almost slept in my second class, I was literally yawning the whole period. On the contrary, Lana did sleep on her one class and she was caught by her professor. Her professor told her to get out of her class and she really did go out and headed straight to the infirmary to say she has a headache and told the nurse that she wants to sleep.
She is amazing.
I don't know what is wrong with this day that it makes both of us very lazy. We are friends after all.
We are now inside a theatre and we will be watching a horror movie to wake our minds. I don't really like this movie but Lana insisted to watch it.
"Really? Where did you get that news?"
"Taehyung." She says and it was obvious.
The rest of the movie was pretty dreadful, I mean horror movies are supposed to be scary and dreadful, but it was a good movie. My heart would beat faster every time that there's a jump scare.
I'm just afraid that I might not sleep soundly and peacefully tonight. I usually have nightmares when I watch horror movies when I was around sixteen to eighteen years old. That's the last time that I've watched horror, and I hope this time that won't happen.
After we finished watching the movie, we head down to Wendy's and grab our meals for lunch. Of course Lana being her, she only chose a salad and fries. While I picked foods that contain the most carbohydrates.
"I really envy you." She says while mixing her vegetable salad.
"Why?" I raise my eyebrow and took a bite at my bacon and a double cheeseburger.
"You can eat everything you want without getting fat." She sighs and eats the lettuce like it is grass to her.
"There's nothing wrong about being fat." I reasoned out. My mom told me that I have a fast metabolism that's why even though I eat a mountain of food, I still remain skinny.
"Believe me, I look like a gallon of water when I was in seventh grade." She rolls her eyes and took a piece of fries before shoving it inside her mouth. "I started running miles to burn fat in ninth grade by the way." She informs and I nod.
It makes sense that she has the same body like mine. Aside from the bigger butt and boobs, she really is working out.
After lunch, we went to window shopping but Lana stumbled upon buying a new dress. She really loves the dress. We stopped in front of a store that I'm pretty familiar with.
PRKR
I told Lana to come with me inside and I'll just take a look. Most of the designs of the clothes are in trend. A lot of people are also inside trying around different garments. They also have sunglasses, caps, bonnets, bags, and even handkerchiefs.
A white ring cap captured my attention and I immediately fell in love with it. When I checked the price, it's not that expensive and I'm having second thoughts if I should buy it or not.
I don't really wear caps, but this is really pretty.
Lana is demonetizing me on my side that I should buy it and I ended up checking it out in the cashier.
Once we head out, I drove Lana to her house instead of going back to the campus. She said she has unfinished business in dreamland that she needs to continue.
=====
Tomorrow is Sean's birthday and he's counting down as if it's the new year.
Today is the first day of our Thanksgiving Holiday break and I'm excited because Lana told me before that Jimin is going back in LA today.
I have no idea what time he's going to be here but I started making egg rolls out of nowhere.
I want to be prepared when he gets back. Now that I know how to make his favorite food, I should at least ask his opinion about my skills at making it.
While cooking I accidentally cut my index finger with a knife. I tried adding bits of ham in the egg rolls that why I have to use one. As soon as it bleeds, I washed it over running water and grabbed the medical kit inside the kitchen drawer. I placed a bandage over my finger and made sure that my hands are still clean before I continued making egg rolls.
I patiently waited inside my bedroom for any signs of Jimin getting home.
While waiting I grabbed my sketchbook and tried scribbling lines just to make up for the time.
Lunchtime already came and not even a soul is found at Jimin's house. It's okay, he might arrive around late noon just like before.
I had lunch with my whole family today and Sean is creating noise as usual. He keeps blabbering about his birthday party tomorrow and I already planned to go out to buy him a gift.
After lunch, I gave mom the box of egg rolls that I made for Jimin and told her not to let any of my siblings eat it.
I hopped around different malls to find the perfect gift for Sean. I ended up buying a plushie of Tom and Jerry.
Once I got back home, mom gave me an envelope. "What's this?" I ask.
"Sean wants Jimin to come to his party tomorrow." Mom said and I just slowly nod.
I'll send him the invitation once he came home.
But I was wrong. I already preheated the egg rolls twice and he's still not at his house. It's almost eight in the evening and his house remains empty.
Once the clock hits eight I went inside my bathroom and cleaned to get ready for sleep.
I thought he is supposed to go home today from Sacramento. Maybe tomorrow?
I lay down on my bed as I stare at my empty ceiling. These past few days my mind is preoccupied with Jimin.
Sometimes I would touch my lips whenever I remember him owning it before, the taste of his mouth which is usually ice mint or alcohol. I always imagine the smell of his high-end addictive perfume and how I wish to smell it again. How his soft and delicate touch would make me burn in warmth every damn time.
Black ink covering most of his toned body. I actually have a favorite tattoo on his body, the one that says 'underrated art', yep still my favorite one.
The way his eyes would disappear every time he smiles genuinely sends millions of butterflies to my stomach. Did I mention before that whenever he smirks or grins, I find it very sexy of him? Though it was hard admitting it to myself.
His habit of combing his hair using his hand every minute is a fascinating view for me. His hair would slowly fall down even though he brushes them off.
The moment he'll pout his lips just to get me to say yes in whatever he wants me to do is cute.
He looks like a premature baby begging for attention. My subconscious wakes me up. I shake my head to get rid of the imaginary Jimin that's lingering inside my brain.
I hopped out of my bed and went down the kitchen to grab a glass of milk so that I'll sleep easier.
Once I chugged down a whole glass, I noticed the small box that has the egg rolls that I made for Jimin.
Since he's not going home, I might as well eat it.
Once I finished the whole box, I brushed my teeth and got comfortable with my bed again.
I was about to close my eyes when I saw something lightening outside my window. I immediately stood up and peeked at it to see what it is.
There's a light at Jimin's house.
He's back!
I grab my phone, Jimin's cereal box on my bedside table, and the invitation to Sean's birthday party tomorrow.
When I got down in the living room, my eyes stopped at the doorway of the kitchen.
Why did I eat the egg rolls?
Sighing at my idiot self, I went back to the kitchen and made egg rolls at a very quick pace.
I made a huge mess in the kitchen and I'm worried that my parents must have heard the clanking of pots.
After I finished doing some egg rolls and filled the box again, I walk out of our house and run towards the direction of Jimin's house.
I look like a girl scout in the neighborhood offering some cookies with these kinds of stuff in my hand.
After ringing the doorbell I finally heard footsteps coming closer to the front door and when it opened Jimin's face was not that delighted with my appearance.
"Elise." He says.
"Uhm, I have something for you," I said hesitantly. He gestured for me to come in and I was glad that he did.
I sat down on his sofa while he gets something inside his kitchen. Later on, he returned with a glass of juice and he hands it to me. "Thank you." I sheepishly said.
"What are you doing here anyway?" The sound of his voice makes me think that I'm not welcomed here.
"You forgot your box of cereals, here's an invitation for Sean's birthday tomorrow and I learned how to cook egg rolls so I made you some." I put all the stuff on his center table before sipping on my orange juice nervously.
"Thanks." He timidly said.
"Try the egg rolls," I said to him and he sighed before going to his kitchen to get a fork.
Once he gets back, he opened the box and he took a piece of the egg rolls. I watch him as he chews it and I noticed that his cheeks are protruding. "How was it?" I excitedly asked.
"Good." He says without any expression visible in his face. He then puts the fork on the table.
That's it?
"So how's Sacramento?" I changed the topic.
"Good." He repeats the same answer and I'm starting to feel that there's something wrong.
"Why are you being like this?" I asked with a scowl on my face. The looks on his face suddenly became stern.
I really must've done something to him, I just can't figure what it is. But what he's doing is wrong as well, he can tell me those things. I won't get mad, I'll fully accept the guilt to the deeds that I've done to him if they're proven wrong.
He stands up from his seat, "Elise I just traveled for hours, I'm really tired right now, go home. Let's talk tomorrow." He says and he turns to the direction of his staircase, his back facing me.
Before he could continue walking away from me I stopped him. "Jimin! I have something to tell you." I said and he stopped at his tracks but he did not turn to face me.
"Ryan and I broke up." I lied. I curl my fists in anxiousness but I managed to keep a fake smile on my lips.
He continued being silent for seconds but then he finally turns around to face me, and there's a smile on his face. "Really?" He asks.
"Yeah, two days ago," I said and smiled at him even more to convince him. I tried to look relaxed and calm, I don't want him to see that I'm lying. He usually notices it when I do.
He then walked towards me and he surprisingly hugged me tightly. "That's good news, Elise." He says and I slowly wrap my arms around him as well.
"I know."
This is a bad idea, and when the time comes I'll probably regret doing this.
