Chapter 33 : Guest
Tomorrow's going to be the start of our semestral break and I'm already excited.
But today is my mom's birthday, that's why after school I planned to go to the mall and buy something for her.
Fortunately, my car was already fixed and I don't have to ride a bus later when I go out.
As soon as all my class was finished, I went to my locker and keep my stuff in there but then someone taps me on the shoulder.
When I turned around to see who it is, it's Taehyung. "Oh, hey." I awkwardly greeted.
"Jimin's looking for you." He smiles.
"Did he tell you why?" I asked politely. I rarely speak with Taehyung, that's why I choose my words wisely.
I know he's nice, but I still don't know him that much.
"He didn't. He told me to tell you that you should go to the music room." He speaks slowly as he uses his hands for gestures.
"Okay." Is all I managed to say as I smile at him before he waves goodbye.
When Taehyung's gone, I immediately roll my eyes before sliding my hand inside my pocket to find my phone and call Jimin.
"Selestina!" He enthusiastically said through the other line the moment he answers my call.
"Stop calling me that, it's Elise for you."
"Eli." He calls.
"Ew no."
"El."
"Shut up." I hissed.
"Eh?" He laughs.
"What do you need? Taehyung said you're looking for me and you want me to come to the music room?" I said I lean my back against my locker.
"Yes. Come here."
"No, I need to do something, bye." I heard him stopped me but I already ended the call.
I sigh as I put my phone down and walk towards the parking lot.
The moment my hand touches the handle of the car door someone pulled me. "What the hell!" I shriek in surprise.
"I told you to come to the music room." Jimin is catching his breath while his jaw tightens.
That jawline can cut flesh.
"I can't. I have to do something." I pulled away from him as I cross both of my arms in front of my chest.
He looks at me, not satisfied with my answer. "It's my mom's birthday, I have to buy her a present." I sheepishly said and there's a change with his expression.
"Okay then. Let's go." He says grabbing my wrist.
"Huh? You're coming?" I ask.
"Yeah, I'll buy your mom a present too." He informs me and then he opens my car. "Her apple pies are really tasty, I owe her something for it."
Whenever I look at Jimin's ankle, there's my gift on him. Since he already had accessories on his ear, wrists, and sometimes on his neck, I decided to make an anklet for him. I put on pendants like a musical note and other related symbols to music to make it unique.
Since he wears it every day, I think he likes it.
"Why are you taking my car?" My forehead furrows.
"Uhm, I forgot my car." He lies. I look around the parking lot, and I found his car.
"Your car is basically in front of mine." My face drops as I look at him.
"Just get in." He hissed before taking my car keys from my hand. He sat on the driver's seat and I have no choice but to just accept that he'll come along with me.
Few minutes passed and we arrived at the nearest mall in our town.
I made my way straight to Kate Spade and buy my mom a new handbag.
In the end, I chose a nude-colored bag which cost me a lot of dollars. But for my lovely mom, I'll buy it because she deserves it.
Jimin is still tailing behind me when I went out of the shop. "Are you done?" He asks.
"Yeah," I said.
"I'll return in a minute." He says and I nod.
I told myself that I'll bore myself out waiting for Jimin to come back here. That's why I entered the closest bookstore.
I stumbled upon a certain genre of books which made me feel a little uncomfortable.
Romance Novels.
I immediately saw a complete trilogy of Fifty Shades of Grey. I looked around before grabbing the first book.
Should I start reading something like this?
I still have that copy of Wicked Ties on my shelves. But El James III's works are a lot more famous.
Maybe because more people can relate to it.
I've already watched the complete series, but I haven't read them.
If Jimin and I will continue having intimate moments, I think I should learn more knowledge about it.
Should I buy it?
After dealing with so many thoughts, I came to the conclusion that I should finish Wicked Ties first before buying another book that has the same genre.
My phone buzzes inside my bag and I quickly answer the call. "Where are you?" Jimin asks.
"Bookstore." I briefly answered as I continue checking out books on the fiction section.
"Stay there." He instructs and then ends the call.
I liked the idea of having a word search book and decided to buy one.
When I reached the cashier, I saw Jimin waiting at the doorway of the store and when his eyes find mine he sticks his tongue out which I find weird and funny.
That was totally out of the blue.
I laughed and rolled my eyes at him, before giving the cashier my payment for the book.
When I finished checking out I walked towards Jimin and got curious with the Tiffany and Co. paper bag on his hand. "What's that?"
"Your mom's present from me." He proudly says.
"Are you trying to win my mom or something? Are you hitting on her?" I give him a playful smirk and he flicks my forehead.
"Ow! Why do you always do that to me?" I complained.
"Let's go." He smiles at me instead of giving an explanation before walking away.
I followed him to my car and we both headed back to my house. I heard dad's throwing a surprise party for mom tonight and I'm probably late.
When we arrived, our house has all its lights on. Few cars are parked near the house's pavement.
It looks like mom's Amigas are here.
This is gonna be a long night.
When we entered the house, a lot of unfamiliar faces welcomed me. Most of them have their glasses of wine on their hands. The chitter-chatter is quite louder than the instrumental music inside the house.
I called Jimin and told him to follow me while I find mom.
The dining room is packed with people and I guessed right that my mom is there.
Jimin and I entered the room and we both greeted my mom. "Happy birthday, I love you." I hugged my mom tightly before I give her my present.
"I love you too sweetie." My mom smiles.
"Happy birthday Mrs. Austin." My mom initiated the hug first and Jimin hugs her back. "The apple pies tasted amazing by the way. Thank you." He says before giving her that Tiffany and Co. paper bag.
"Thank you, this looks expensive." My mom gushes.
"Oh, it's nothing compared to your pies." Jimin compliments. He's really good at sweet-talking.
"Silly. Anyways, get yourselves some food, you must be starving." My mom says and we both nodded.
We got ourselves some dishes that we liked and we joined Sean in the living room and that's where we ate our food.
Sean is busy staring at the television, it's a new episode of Loud House, a new animated series that he likes.
"Hey Jimin, what did you get for my mom?" I ask before stuffing another spoonful of the meal inside my mouth.
"Why? Are you jealous?" He smirks.
"No. I was just curious."
"A necklace and a pair of earrings." He tells me and I gape.
"How much was it?"
"Only costs coins." He looks at me with a smug look and I roll my eyes at him.
Jimin stayed in our house until the guests slowly leave.
Few hours passed and all the guests already left our house, excluding Jimin.
"Can we talk in your room?" Jimin says in the middle of our Monopoly Cards game.
I don't really know what he meant by the word 'talk'.
"Why?" I whispered.
"I just want to tell you something, I'm supposed to be telling you this in the music room but it's your mom's birthday."
"It's something private." He whispers back as he adds those words which made me extremely curious.
"Okay." I dropped the cards in my hand on the floor and we cautiously went up inside my room.
"What is it?" I asked as soon as we reached my room. I made sure I locked the door in case someone barges in without any warnings.
"Tomorrow's the start of our semestral break and I'm wondering if you would like to go to Italy and meet my mom." He says and I smile in astonishment.
"Really? I would love to. But I can't afford a ticket." I laughed it off as I refused.
He clicks his tongue. "Tsk, of course, I'll pay for that, I'm the one asking for your company." He explains.
"Oh, I don't know. I don't want to seem like a thick-faced person, I don't have a passport, plus you already paid for my flight when we went to Sacramento—"
"Are you coming with me or not?" I looked at him and he has got the look on his face that I should say yes.
"Sure." I sheepishly said and he smiled at me, the kind of smile that makes his eyes disappear for a moment.
To my surprise, he hugged me tight and I melted. "We'll be leaving on Tuesday, I'll tell your parents about it."
"Okay," I answer, his breath touching the back of my neck.
Suddenly someone knocked on my door and I immediately pulled away from him.
"Inside the bathroom." I hissed and he rolls his eyes before following.
It's probably mom, she's gonna be asking about Jimin's whereabout and I just have to lie that he already went home.
Jimin can go out on my balcony, he's already a professional at climbing up and down from it.
But when I opened the door my heart and shoulders dropped.
"Surprise!"
"R-yan." I stammered as I faked a smile and he pulled me into a hug. The familiar scent fills my nose. "What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I came here as a guest for your mom's birthday, but I came late." He laughs.
"By the way, I have great news. I'm staying here for the semestral break! I missed you so much."
He says and with that, my mind mixed thoughts in my head, but all of them screams 'What am I going to do?'.
