Chapter 17 : Blue Moon
Silence fills the atmosphere as I drive around Los Angeles with Jimin on my side. He only says a word when I need to turn in a specific direction.
I can't believe Hoseok forced us to be together when he already know that something between us is awkward.
I know Hoseok knows about something. The way he said that he's doing this for Jimin made me sure.
"Turn left." He said in an empty tone. But before he can even inform me I already surpassed the direction. "Why do you have to be so stupid?" He says under his breath and I found myself stopping at a no parking place.
"If you're that mad at me, then you should've brought your convertible car." I mock him. He's turning back into the man I fought with at the resort.
I kinda like the Jimin that I had late brunch with inside his house. The one who offered his handkerchief and shirt so that I'll stay protected under the heat of the sun that day.
That day.
That day feels so ethereal, everything was at the wrong place but it feels nice, I was really happy that day and it scares me because Jimin might be the reason why I'm happy that time.
That day was almost flawless, but nothing's ever perfect.
If he didn't start to speak about Ryan and I's relationship, that day must've been really memorable to me. Feeling the cold breeze of the wind, the smell of saltwater and the sound of silence as I stare at the beautiful sky, would be a moment to remember.
That day did become a memorable one, in a bad way. I hate how everything twisted that day.
Now, we're back to square one.
"Then you should have backed out when Hoseok invited you to his party." He spits and leans on his seat without even sparing me a glance.
"I owe him something, that's why. Believe me, I don't want to come and drive you all the way there." My grip tightens at the steering wheel as I contain my anger.
He didn't say anything back, instead, he unlocks the door on his side and he jumps out of my car.
"Go and drive back home! Daddy must be finding you." He provokes and I gave him a jersey salute.
Instead of following what he said I reverse around the road and turn to my right where Jimin points at earlier.
When I look at the rearview mirror, he's standing still at the pavement of the sidewalk.
If I don't see any signs of blue water here, then I'll turn back and return home.
Just a few meters from Jimin and I's argument spot earlier, a clear view of the sea is visible at my right side and there's the yacht, not just a yacht but a mega-yacht berthed near a dock.
The moon is shining brightly and its reflection from the water makes the whole scenery very beautiful.
From the outside view, the colorful lights are shimmering endlessly from the yacht. The loud music is very audible inside my car as I search for a parking spot.
Lana must be having the best time of her life inside.
As soon as I parked my car outside I hopped off and make my way at the dock.
Some people are dancing like there's no tomorrow at the deck, some are holding empty, full, or a half bottle of beers here at the dock.
This boat is like a giant, I'm slightly afraid to enter because I'm too intimidated by its size, but it seems interesting and I thought that this might be the first and last opportunity for me to experience riding a yacht so I went for it.
The only difference from Hoseok's party at his house is the venue and this time I can freely roam around without worrying about my attire.
I struggle to find the kitchen and I did a lot of work gathering my courage before asking someone the direction to it. Once I found it, I grab myself a cup of liquor and go upstairs to visit the deck.
As expected the wind is strongly blowing outside. I should've tied my hair into a ponytail before going here, but I'm enjoying every bit of it.
Exactly as I rest my arms on the railings, my phone buzzes, and its a message from my mom.
Where are you? It's already time for dinner.
I replied that I'm at a friend's house, that I'll be going home late and probably skipping dinner with them.
I thought about sending Lana a message but she's probably sloshed by now. I'm sure I'm gonna bump into her later.
Time passes by and I thought I will be staying here just until six-thirty but it's already ten in the evening.
I talked to whoever approaches me first, but none of them had a decent conversation with me. It's either we don't get along or they're intoxicated. If I'm alone I'll stare at the sea and appreciate its beauty while thinking about random stuff.
If only there are no loudspeakers around I would be really having a great time here. Everything would be calm and I'll be at peace. But for now, I'm fine with this, at least I get to waste my time and ride a luxurious boat just to think about things that are happening in my life.
I'm a little proud at myself that I didn't get wasted that fast tonight, and I don't have the intention to, hopefully, I'll stick with my words.
"Elish!" A short-haired and drunk woman approached me. "You didn't shay you were going to come." Lana leans her back at the railings, she's holding a red cup on her hands and her eyes look tired.
"Surprise then," I remarked and she laughs at it. "Have you seen Taehyung?" I ask her and she nods her head gleefully.
"I actually made him drink a lot." She confesses before drinking into her cup. "Still beautiful when drunk, but he ish like the hulk. He destroys stuff." She snorts, her cheeks are red definitely from drinking too much.
I heard Hoseok earlier that Taehyung's making a mess, it turns out it was Lana's fault, she made him drink without the idea that he'll turn into a monster if he drinks too much alcohol.
"Is he okay now?"
She nods again, "Hoseok came earlier and handled everything." and then takes another sip from her cup. If Hoseok's here, is Jimin here as well or did he find his way home?
What I did to him was kinda mean, but he's the one who lit the fire by jumping out of my car.
He's the most unintelligible person that I have ever met.
I never felt depressed and confused whenever I was around Hoseok or Taehyung, which are his friends.
They're not difficult to deal with, unlike him, a perfectly shaped and hard nutshell.
"Let's go down," Lana says, cutting me off from my own thoughts.
"I'm fine here," I claim, and she boos.
"It's boring here, the party's downstairs sweetie." She grabs my empty hand and pulls me. Her grip is not that tight and I could easily pull away from it, but I thought I could at least see what's going on below.
My feet are also hurting already from standing for too long.
Under the deck is like a pool of people. The lights became brighter than the moment I step into this boat earlier.
In the middle, there's plenty of wasted people dancing their asses off. Everyone's enjoying the beat that the DJ is creating.
As soon as a different song plays Lana throws her cup around, for an Eco-Op member, she's not doing a great job. "C'mon Elish! This ish my jam!" She squeals and I giggle at her speaking sluggishly. She pulls me through the crowd and she halts in the middle.
The music is louder here and is really crowded. People around my age are jumping, shouting, and spilling drinks everywhere.
I'm afraid this yacht might sink at any point right now.
"Hey!" Someone taps me on my shoulder and turn to look who it was. "It's already past ten, why are you still here?" Hoseok asks.
"Is that bad?" I smile and he shakes his head no.
"I heard what you did to Jimin." He laughs and his eyes crinkle. "He was really mad, you should've seen his face." He gives me an approving look and I feel bad about it.
"I guess I was just carried away." I defend. "Did he managed to come here?"
"He walked." He answers my question shortly. "He's in my private room right now." A small 'o' formed on my lips as I nod at the information.
"And drunk." He adds and my eyebrow immediately arcs.
"I thought he doesn't drink?" He shrugs.
"Second floor. The third door at the left." He tells me and my forehead furrows at his words. He then nods and leaves eventually.
I thought Jimin was being honest when he said that he doesn't drink. Something really bad must've happened.
Do I have some sort of involvement in his sudden drinking?
All I did was left him on the streets and gave him a middle finger. That's all, it couldn't be something related to that. I'm just overthinking.
Why would he even drink because of me? I'm sure there are also tons of people who treated him the same way as what I did to him earlier.
I couldn't possibly be the worst among them.
In fact, I think I'm actually doing a great job of keeping my temper under control.
If I didn't, I wouldn't leave him standing there on the pavement peacefully. I would've hit him with my car.
Lana's shaking her boobies at me as she dances and I fight my way to get a little distance from her as possible. She laughs at my reaction and turns her back at me before twerking like a madwoman.
I laughed and most of the people are starting to look at her. Some joined her on the dance floor and I didn't notice that I'm slowly being pushed at the back and a lot of people are already blocking my view of her.
I sigh as I decided to go back to the deck, the hall is air-conditioned but because of the number of people having fun out there, the room is packed and the temperature is hot.
I stopped myself from landing my foot on the first step of stairs to the deck.
This is the second floor and people here are mostly sleeping on the floor and making out, but they're only a few.
My eyes then wandered around a narrow hall in the middle. Me being curious, I find myself walking towards its direction.
There are six doors. This must be the rooms that Hoseok referred to. I stopped my tracks in front of the door of the third door on the left.
Jimin is here and he's drunk.
Should I say sorry about my behavior or that was just an excuse to see him?
My conscience is telling me to go inside and apologize to him for being mean. It's rare for me to give someone the dirty finger, but my emotions got the best of me.
He won't be drinking just because of that. He's not that sensitive. Why would I say sorry to him if he's the one who ignited the war?
Just check if he's okay. The voice inside my head commands and I started knocking on the door weakly. "Jimin?" I called and when he didn't answer I grab the knob and try turning it.
It's not locked.
I slowly open the door as I call his name, but my jaw drops the moment I look at the bed.
I'm never listening to my conscience ever again.
"Elise?" Jimin notices me while he's hovering over a girl, his belt is unbuckled and they're already both half-naked. I guess in his calendar, tonight's a blue moon.
