Our Canadian neighbours
Were surely amused
As men poured out of our houses
And into the streets.

But the impact on us
Came a bit later
Replaying the triumph
Out on the grass.

I think I was Charlton
My best friend was Moore
But soon we were joined
By a young German pair
Who wanted to play
And it all began there.
