that night jade went to sleep with a smile.

the next morning, she woke up happily, but then remembered her job started today. the job that would help out with college.

jade wanted to become a doctor. but a couple months ago, it was an engineer. and before that it was an accountant. truthfully she just wanted to make her father proud.

however that is rare. sometimes she feels like her father doesn't love her, he would rather spend time with lucy. that would break any child's heart.

her job was animal shelter worker. perhaps it would look good on her resume but mostly she wanted the job because her mother worked there.

in her mother's diary, she wrote the amazing things she did. and jade couldn't wait to experience the same things.

jade brushed her silky hair, put some light makeup on and her uniform. which was a pair of blue jeans and a yellow tank top, that says "animals are my people".

she thought of joey and last night. she definitely thought he was cute, have a good personality, and they just fit perfectly with each other. jade never thought she would be experiencing this right now. she always thought maybe in college, she would meet the love of her life.. not at 16 though.

this is the first time, any guy showed any interest in her. does she just like the attention? jade shook her head.

not possible!

she couldn't believe she actually kissed his cheek. when she did, there was a sudden burst of energy and jade just did it without thinking. (which is completely not like jade)

but also what if joe doesn't even like her in that way? but why would he be spending so much time with her?

her anxiety got the best of her. the best way for jade to stop overthinking, is just to stop thinking.

her mind went on autopilot; she went downstairs, got some breakfast, brushed her teeth, got her shoes on and got on her bike.

at the shelter, it was amazing. the dogs and cats were so adorable. she wished she could adopt all of them.

there was even a photo of her mother, holding three kittens. a worker explained how she nursed the mama cat (she got hit by a car) and delivered the kittens.

all survived and got adopted shortly after!

that made jade so happy. she couldn't wait to tell joe later.

joe had no idea how to tell jade that he liked her. flowers? fancy restaurant? a painting? he needed to express his feelings in the most creative way.

cuz like it's jade. it has to be perfect!

then he talked to danny—he came up with the perfect plan and he was going to do it after her shift at the shelter.

joe prayed she would like him back. his shy self, would never do this but for jade, he was willing to do anything for her.

unless she doesn't like him back, which then he would be upset but would understand.

little do they know, they both like each other !
