jade opened the door as quiet as she could possibly could've, not to wake her father up. her curfew was an hour ago.

"who was that young man, jade anastasia"? her father asks, with his arms across his chest.

"papa, he's just a friend". jade said, trying to convince her father.

"i hope he's nothing more. i don't want you to be like your mother. sixteen and pregnant". her father said.

jade nodded, "i'm going to bed, papa. i love you".

"i love you too pumpkin, good night". her father said and jade went upstairs to get ready for bed.

jade changed into a pastel purple nightgown and fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

jade woke up to the sound of the garbage truck beep.

"ugh". jade said, rubbing her eyes. jade got out of her bed, took a shower and got dressed into a green sundress.

while jade was eating cereal in the kitchen, her father called from upstairs , "jade! can you take lucy to camp at the library! i have to go to work earlier than usual".

jade nodded, but then realized her father couldn't see her. "yes"! jade yelled, taking a bite of cheerios.

when her father came downstairs thanked her and gave her some money to buy pop, after dropping lucy off.

lucy was a splitting image of jade's and her's mother. lucy has blonde hair with ivory skin and brown eyes.

"lucy-bear, you ready to go"? jade yells, her voice echoing through the house. lucy stomped down the carpeted stairs.

"jade! please don't make me go! everyone i hate goes there". lucy said, pouting.

jade rubbed her head. "sorry luc, you have to go. but how about we get ice cream afterward when i come and get you"?

"yes"! lucy squealed.

"okay, let's go now". jade said, lucy grabbing her her hand.

the two walked down the street, hand in small hand.

"jade, there's a boy waving and running towards us". lucy said, pulling jade's arm.

jade looked behind her to see joey. she smiled at him.

jade stopped which made lucy stop. after a couple seconds, joey was next to them. "hi, i'm joey. what's your name"? joey asked lucy.

"i'm lucy! i'm eight"! lucy shouted with a smile, her pigtails swaying.

"that's so cool"! joey faked being excited, which made lucy smile more but she thought he genuinely was obviously.

"i'm just dropping her off at camp. want to come"? i asked.

"please joey"! lucy yelled.

"of course". joey said, standing next to me.

"and after could i can give you a tour of the town, if you want". i said.

"that would be perfect actually". he whispered.

then jade and joey dropped her off, surprisedly she was happy, no tears.
