chapter six.

six. those eyes.

THIRD PERSON POV.
AFTER THE SEARCH IN the Hargroves household, the three girls left the house to make their way towards Hawkins community pool. They had to see who's fanny pack it was in Billy's bathroom.

Phoebe was hoping she'd see Billy there. She has never gone for days without seeing him. Maybe a few hours, but never days.

Phoebe set herself up for disappointment. He wasn't there and when they question the lifeguards who the fanny pack belonged too, they said to girl name Heather. She had not come into work that day. Said she bailed on them.

That made Phoebe wondered and stress out. She refused to think that Billy was cheating on her and she felt selfish to even think like that. Obviously something it taking control of Billy. They just don't know what.

"We have to figure out where this Heather girl is," Phoebe said as she looked over to El, but the young girl's attention was brought to something else. To the billboard that had Hawkins swim season lifeguards of '85.

They all walked towards the billboard and Phoebe smiled softly at the picture of Billy. She remembered being there that day to take the picture.

FLASHBACK
"Babe, you look great." Phoebe compliments as she watches Billy fixed his new grown hair in the mirror. Behaving like a girl. "You're worse than me. I barely spend this much time doing my hair." She jokes with a small laugh.

Billy turns to look at her, "that's because you're perfect just the way you are." He praises as he walked towards the gorgeous, blushing blonde. He stood in front of her and tucked a piece of her blonde hair behind his ear. He still wonders, every day, how he was blessed with this perfect woman who would do anything for him. How this woman can change him from that horrible person he was before, to the one he is now.

He never would see himself being kinder and less bitter. More helpful and less stubborn. More loving and less hateful.

She even got Steve to become friends with him. Even after all those beatings Billy gave him.

"Why are you staring at me so much? Kiss me." She tells him as she wraps her arms around Billy's neck to pull him closer to her.

Billy smiles at her, "I love you, Phoebe. So much. I would never forgive myself if I were to do anything to hurt you." He admits as he wraps his arms around her waist to close the gap between them.

"No matter what attacks we go through, or any fights, or any misuse of hurtful words; I will always fight for you, Billy. Because I love you more then you can even imagine." Phoebe tells him as she caressed his cheeks with her thumbs.

Billy furrowed his brows in happiness. He leaned closer to her lips with his and pressed his lips against hers.

"Always and forever." He whispers against her lips.

"Always and forever." Phoebe confirms.

END OF FLASHBACK.

"Are you think what I'm thinking?" Max asked El as the stood in front of Heathers picture. The two young girls smiled to themselves and nod.

"You guys are cute," Phoebe says with a smile as she ruffled El's hair.

The three girls looked back to see that the other two lifeguards weren't paying any attention to then. El quickly ripped the picture off the board and they hurried to find a secret place.

They ended up in the girls changing room.

Max and Phoebe turned on all the shower to create a static sound like the radio does while El put some dark tape over a pair of goggles to block out any light.

Max and Phoebe sat by El's side as she did her thing. Waiting in anticipation.

After q few moments gone by, Max speaks up. "What do you see?" She questions.

"A door." El replies, in a soft voice. "A red door." She clarifies.

It was silent while El continued. Phoebe chewed at her gum. To the point we're they started to bleed. She was worried. Hoping that Billy didn't kill Heather and hoping that he was okay.

She missed him and would give anything to have him by her side. She wished she could've protected him from whatever has him. Phoebe could do nothing but blame herself.

Suddenly, Phoebe was brought out of her thoughts when El screamed. She ripped the goggles off her face and planted heavily.

"El, what happened?!" Phoebe worried and she pulled her younger sister close to her.

"What did you see?" Max wondered as El buried her face into Phoebes chest, shacking her head.

Phoebe looked at Max with sad eyes, "it's okay, El." Phoebe soothes and she caressed Els hair.

El quickly collected herself and stood to her feet, "come on. I think I know where she is." El says she then turned to Phoebe, "and Billy."

IT WAS pouring. Difficult for Phoebe to see the roads, but she made them out. The blonde pulled to the side of the house El gave her the address too.

"Is this it?" Phoebe asked.

El nod.

The three girls quickly made their way out of the car and towards the house entrance. Becoming completely soaked from the rain.

Phoebe heart was pounding out of her chest. This is going to be the first time she's seen Billy in days. Since he claimed he cheated on her.

"I'll open the door." El said. Using her telekinesis skills, she unlocked the door and opened it.

"I could've done that." Phoebe states looking at her younger sister with a soft smile.

The three girls walked in. No caring if there was someone home or not. They were determine to find Billy and Heather.

The more they walked in, they saw down the halls to see pictures of Heather with her parents.

"This is her house." Max says.

"What?" El questions, a bit confused.

"This is Heathers house." Phoebe clarifies.

Then there was a laughter that caught the three girls attention. The snapped their heads towards the direction and slowly began to walk towards the laughter.

"Isn't it cute, huh?"

That voice. "Billy." Phoebe whispered to herself. Her pace quickly picking up. She was the first to enter the dining room with El and Max behind her.

They turned to their sides to see Heathers parents and Billy staring at them.

"Max." Billy speaks.

He looks so handsome. Phoebe thinks to herself. Wishing she could just go up to him to give him a hug. To feel his warm embrace. To feel his lips against hers. To feel his touch. Anything. She craved him like a drug and she was addicted. She felt deprive not having him by her side and it was killing her.

"We didn't mean to...barge in." Max says, "we tried to knock, but maybe you didn't hear us over the storm." She lies, but seeming truthful to the others.

Billy just stared at us all as he chewed on his food.

"I'm sorry, who is this dripping all over my living room right now?" The head person in charge of  Hawkins newspapers questions.

Billy chuckles, "I'm sorry. Janet, Tom, this is my sister, Maxine." He gets up from his seat and walks towards us.

"Oh!" Janet exclaims with a smile.

"What on earth are you doing here?" Billy wonders as he walks up to the three girls. "All of you?" He looks at at three of them. "Is something wrong?" He quizzes, with a hand on his hip.

"We just wanted to make sure everything is okay." Max answers.

"Okay? Why wouldn't it be okay?" Billy asked, acting confused. Which made Phoebe angry.

"Where is she?" Phoebe spoke, looking up at Billy. He turned his attention to her. Oh those blue eyes she missed. She could stare at them all day. He moved closer to the blonde. Phoebe breath hitched as he got closer.

This isn't him, Phoebe. She reminded herself.

"I'm sorry. Where is who?" He asked, not breaking eye contact with her.

"Well, they're a little burnt, I'm sorry—"

They all turned to see Heather coming out the kitchen with a tray of burnt cookies.

"Heather, this is my sister Maxine." He introduced and he turned back to Phoebe and El, "and I'm sorry. I did not quite catch your name." He said, only looking at Phoebe.

You jackass. Now he's pretending to not know me. To impress his new girlfriend.

Phoebe glared back at him, "El and Phoebe."

"Phoebe." He repeats, pointing a finger at her. Oh how she wanted to punch him. "Now what is it you were saying? You were looking for somebody?"

El turned to Heather and pointed at her, "I-I saw..." as she stumbled on her words, Phoebe and Billy kept staring at each other, intensely.

Phoebe could feel her eyes watering up, "please come back to me, Billy." She cries, quietly. Only for him to hear and just for a second, she could see him change to himself.

"Phoebe?" He wonders, voice cracking softly. Then his body twitched and his dull eyes came back again. He chuckles at her. As if he was mocking her. Phoebe heart fell and turned away from his gaze.

"He said you guys didn't come in to work today, so we got worried." Max explains.

"Heather wasn't feeling so hot today, so we thought we'd take the day off to nurse her back to health." Billy says and he turns to Heather. "But you're feeling just fine right now, aren't you, Heather?" Billy asks with a smile.

"I'm feeling so much better." She responds, giddily.

Billy turns back to face the three girls. Especially Phoebe.

"You don't know who you're messing with." Phoebe warns, keeping her strong stance and character.

"Trust me, sweetheart," Billy leans in close to her ear, "you don't want to try us." He whispers. His warm breath sending shivers down her spine.

"Do you girls want a cookie?" Heather offers, "they're fresh out of the oven." She adds holding the tray out to them.

"No, thanks." Phoebe replies and she grabs the girls hands to walk them out the house. "We'll be going." She says as they exit the dining room feeling Billy presences following them.

"I'll be walking you all out." He said with a smile.

Phoebe rolled her eyes and pulled her keys out from her pocket. The three girls stepped out into the rain getting even more drenched.

As they walked towards the car, Phoebe could feel someone staring at her. She turned and saw Billy looking at her.

She returns to glare and stuck her middle finger up.

Game on, Billy.
