They looked at their phones. It was 7:30. The fire started at 8:00. Two boys. A brunette and a blonde both invited to a bond fire. Did they want to go? No. Were they forced to by friends? Yes. It was the summer before sophomore year of high school and they were told to go to this bonding fire so the classmates can get to know each other better. The brunette climbed into his car while the blonde walked. Wearing a pair of grey ripped jeans and a black muscle shirt and a neck chain the brunette thought he looked great. The blonde wearing skinny blue jeans and a navy blue shirt with a star pattern and his vans thought he looked terrible but his older sister told him this looked nice so he wore it. The brunette arrived a bit early to the fire. The blonde, ten minuets late. It almost dusk and the sky was a hazy navy blue matching the blonde's shirt. The sky was dark enough for a fire to be lit but light enough to still see without the fire. Lightning bugs started to flicker and so did the small flame lit by Amelia. The girl hosting the party. There was a table with a red cloth sitting with lemonade and chip bowls. There was an in-ground pool. The fire was burning, people were swimming, and conversations were building. The brunette smiled and talked to everyone he could while the blonde sat in a chair away from everyone watching carefully. There was a couple sitting in the porch swing. The blonde had noticed the brunette a few times. The blonde looked down at the red solo cup half filled with lemonade when he barely saw a shadow hovering over him. The blonde looked up and saw the brunette standing in front of him. Closer up the blonde could see his dimples when he smile. He could see the species of dark blue in the sea of light. Up close the blonde could see that the brunette had straight teeth and a charming grin.

"Hi there," the brunette said in a normal tone

"Uh um hi," the blonde studdered back to him

The brunette had been looking over at the blonde a few times when Carly and Rose shoved him in the direction the lonely blonde was.

"I saw that you looked a little lonely," the brunette said sheepishly

The blonde looked at him
The brunette looked at him

Both of their cheeks rose a little in temperature. Luckily the sun was down and it was to dark to notice.

"Yeah, I don't really know anyone here," the blonde admitted

"Well you're welcome to come and hang out with me. I know quite a lot of people,"

"You sure?" The blonde asked

"Oh course I'm sure!"

The blonde stood up and smiled slightly at the brunette.

The brunette stuck out his hand a little

"Colby," he smiled

The blonde took his hand

"Sam,"
