Chapter eleven

Due to " psychological damage from the akuma attack" Adrien and Marinette were send in a train back to Paris. The trip was about 2h so the two youngsters had plenty of time to talk. Marinette had insisted she was fine and both had hid their wounds. The teacher had told them to go back home and rest. None of the parents had been alerted since they weren't any " severe damage".

Marinette and Adrien sat next to each other, the two seats in front of them remaining unused.

"What are we going to do? Marinette asked, if my parents see me like this, they're going to freak out."

" It's okay, Adrien whispered, you can stay at my place until the school trip ends. That gives us 2 days one night to recover before my dad comes back from his business trip.

Marinette smiled. She trusted him. He had made a mistake or two but she loved him. he drove her crazy. She couldn't possibly made at him. He had help a damsel in distress. She was more mad about the fact that he had trusted a stranger instead of his girlfriend but she didn't have the energy to fight. Adrien laid her head on Marinette's shoulder. She stiffened. She had lost a lot of blood so even forming a sentence was tiring. She closed her eyes then hopped everything would be okay.

"Marinette, we have arrived."

Marinette painfully opened her eyes. Her lids felt heavy and white spots were covering her vision.

Adrien helped her up and walked towards his house. Fortunately the train station was only a few meters away from the Agreste mansion. They arrived in the huge entrance. Marinette looked amazed threw her sleepy eyes. Adrien dropped all the bags and luggage and took Marinette in his arms. He walked up the stairs and entered his room.

He then gently layed Marinette on the bed.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

She nodded but didn't answer. She looked like she had a hard time breathing.

He risked an eye out but immediately closed it. Marinette was even paler than usual. Deep, dark circles had formed under her eyes. He took her frail hand in his and squeezed it so tight he could feel her pulse. It was really slow, like her whole body was freezing away.

He closed his eyes and remembered how this had all started. He remembered how crazy ladybug drove him. She was brave, sassy, confident, funny...

He remembered how he had fallen for Marinette. Slowly sinking in sweet love. She was adorable. Her shiny blue eyes, her adorable smile, her joyful laughter...

He remembered every kiss they had exchanged, the sweet taste of her skin when he playfully kissed her neck...

Her warm hand on his cheek. Her thin fingers, tangling into his hair. Her soft lips on the tip of his nose.

An image of Marinette, smiling, popped up in his mind. He felt his heart throb.

This was all gone. He would never see her again. He would never hear her sweet giggle again. She was gone!

And it was all his fault. She had been played by Michelle. He was the only reason Marinette had been akumatized. He was the only reason her hand felt cold...

But it was all too late.

Marinette was gone. He would never see her again. The image of Marinette smiling, faded away, like burned by sadness and anger against himself.

A small tear fell on the blanket. Adrien layed his head on Marinette's stomach. She was breathing anymore. A flood of sadness invaded his body. A second tear fell out of his shiny eyes, a third, a fourth...

It was game over for him.

Marinette was dead.

Suddenly, a pink light made Adrien raise his head. The pink light was coming from their hands, still tied together. Adrien looked at the light, it seemed to fade into Marinette's skin and go up her arm. He felt Marinette's pulse go back up, then the blood left on her white shirt had slowly started to disappear. Adrien sat up, amazed. He saw her lashes flutter.

"Adrien?" She said, her voice still weak.

Adrien sat there, immobile, for a few seconds, not understanding what was happening. She sat up and looked at him in worry.

"What's wrong? she asked, tilting her head to the side.

Adrien felt his lips curve in a slight smile. He rose his hand to her head, cupping her cheek. He slowly caressed her soft skin, tears shining in his eyes. He then slowly slid his hand to her neck and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, pulling her in a bone crushing hug. He started tearing in her shoulder, putting his other hand on her head, bringing it closer to his chest.

"I thought i would never see those gorgeous eyes of yours." he said in her shoulder.

She first stiffened at his sudden action but slowly melted in the hug. She wrapped her arms around his chest, bringing one hand to his hair. She started gently patting his hair. He held her even closer, squeezing her thin body.

" I'm sorry.." He whispered.

"It's okay silly, i'm fine now." Marinette said.

Adrien slowly released Marinette and looked at her in the eyes. Her blue eyes, dark hair, pink lips. They were all back. He cupped her cheek again and smiled. He slowly leaned his head towards her. Her cheeks reddened and she leaned in closer too, closing her eyes. He tilted his head to the side and gantly pressed his lips against hers. He then pushed back but she grabbed his shirt and leaned in further. Adrien smiled in the kiss. It felt amazing.

His Marinette was back. He could enjoy life again.

"-Adrien are you coming down." Marinette shouted from across the house.

Adrien opened an eye and realized it was already morning. He picked himself off the bed and slowly walked to the kitchen, still half asleep. As soon as he set foot in the big room, he was instantly hit by the strong scent of warm pancakes. He saw his princess, pouring the dow in a frying pan, happily humming. He then realized she wasn't wearing her normal outfit anymore, she had slid on a black sweater. His black sweater. The big piece of clothing hugged her body and dropped to her thighs, leaving the rest of her legs naked. Adrien blushed and looked away, one hand hiding his face. She had apparently not noticed he was behind her. He quietly walked towards her and slid an arm around her waist. He pulled her closer to him and whispered.

"Good morning princess."

He chuckled as he felt her blush.

"G-geez you scared me..." She said.

He smiled the buried his nose into her soft hair. He closed her eyes and breathed the sweet smell of her shampoo.

He made his way to her neck and gently kissed her skin. He felt her flinch and smiled against her warm skin.

"I'm nearly done." She said, sliding out of his grip.

He walked away and admired her cooking. She flipped the pancake and slid it on a pile of freshly baked pancakes. She added some maple syrup and put the plate on the kitchen table.

" Here, eat up." She said as she sat on the seat across the plate.

Adrien walked towards his seat and sat down in front of the pancakes. He took his fork and knife and cut a piece, directing it to his mouth. He slowly shewed the pastry. He was amazed. The sweet aroma of the syrup mixed with the softness of the panncake.

He dropped his fork and looked at Marinette. She slightly giggled.

"Does that mean you like it?" She asked in a laugh.

"Oh Hell no! 'Like' is an understatement !"

She giggled again, her cheeks rosy.

"Marinette please marry me." He said, looking straight into her blue eyes.

She laughed then suddenly stopped when he added.

"I'm dead serious"

She then blushed and looked at her feet.

She smiled and then looked back at him. She tilted her head to the side and smiled.

"Okay!"

Adrien's whole face went red. She was actually willing to spend the rest of her life with him. He imagined them growing up together. Buying a house, moving in together, living together, having kids...

He felt his face get even redder at the thought. He looked back at his breakfast and quickly finished the plate, savouring each bite.

She smile then walked up behind him. She wrapped he arms around his shoulders and leaned onto him. He smiled then held her arm.

"I love you" She whispered in his ear.

They stayed a few minutes, Adrien feeling the heat of her body behind his back. He closed his eyes and smiled. This was real. She was okay. But how did she even heal? And how did Michelle manage to "kill" Marinette with a cutter? Questions kept rushing through his mind as he tried focussing on a logical explanation.

Who the hell was Michelle?
