Chapter 2 - The Perks of Southwest
Chapter 2
The Perks of Southwest
"Last call for boarding, Terminal B5," the flight person announced. I turned to face Dad, and cleared my throat.
"This is it, I guess," I mumbled under my breath. Dad gathered me into a quick hug, and I walked away to stand in line. When I turned back, I saw him waving at me sadly. Instead of smiling, I looked away, shaking my head. He must've convinced Mom to send me there. I just don't know why.
"Boarding pass please," the flight attendant asked, his hand hovering near mine. I quickly handed him the ticket and walked inside the winding passage. When I entered the plane, I looked for my seat. An old man was sitting there.
"Excuse me, Sir. This is my seat," I said sternly. He sighed, leaving the seat. I moved to sit near the window, putting on my earbuds.
* * *
"Sorry Sir, my seat is in the middle, do you mind scooting over for a minute?"
"Sure. You're nicer than the girl, at least."
I heard some shuffling and I opened my eyes, staring at the boy sitting next to me. He was tall, and he had green eyes with brown hair. He's cute. No, I can't think that.
"Why are you staring at me?" he asked. I shot up from my seat, surprised that he spoke to me. Then I hit my head.
"Shoot," I mumbled, rubbing my forehead. The guy laughed at me.
"That was just hilarious." His deep laugh echoed through my mind, and I scowled.
"Shut up, jerk," I put back on my earbuds and turned to face the window. The guy sighed, taking out his phone, scrolling through pictures of girls.
I scoffed, thinking he must be a guy who has tons of girlfriends. Before I knew it, he was poking my shoulder, trying to annoy me.
Oh, the perks of flying Southwest. You get to sit next to a dummy, and he'll poke you till you land.
