Sticky Notes part 4 (Marichat/Adrienette)
After school, Marinette went to her locker but noticed Adrien was not at his. Strange she thought for sure he was always at his the same time she came to hers. Maybe she misunderstood or imagined it. She shrugged her shoulders as she placed the homework for the day in her book bag. She was glad the slip of paper Adrien had given her earlier was already tucked away in the front zipper pouch.
Marinette pulled out a blank sticky note of hers. She scribbled a few words across it and signed it from Ladybug. She posted it on Adrien's locker and rushed home. She figured this way on one would ever know she was the real one who wrote it.
Once home Marinette saw her father's look of dismay at her appearance. She thought what was with him lately? It was not her fault her mother refused to call anymore. She ran to her room, slammed the door, and locked it. She got to work on her homework it was the one sense of normalcy left in her world.
Adrien approached his locker long after Marinette left. He decided it was harder for him to see her without her speaking to him. It hurt him more than he let on since his father never spent time with him. He sighed but smiled just a little when he saw a note for him.
He made space in his bag to include the note with his homework. Then, he closed the locker and locked it back. As he headed to the exit he heard Chole Bougerious call out for him, but ignored her. He did not feel speaking to her. Not when she was so rude to Marinette.
Adrien climbed into the limousine as soon as he saw it, and without a word to the driver, he fastened his seatbelt. Once home, he went straight to his room as usual and sat down on the edge of his bed.
He removed his homework, but the note fell out before he could start it. He closed the door and locked it. He did not want to take the chance Natalie might say something to him that would only make him more down than he felt already.
Dear Adrien,
You are a sweet boy who no matter what is always there for his friends. It is okay not to be okay sometimes. It is a normal part of our lives.
Thanks for reaching out to Marinette. Even if she does not say as much she appreciates the kind gesture.
Oh, and Chat Noir tends to flirt a bit, but Marinette says maybe it is because he is lonesome.
Anyways, take it from someone who knows, Adrien you can not always be strong.
Trust us on this, okay.
Sincerely,
Ladybug
PS. This bug hopes you enjoy the color choice for the note. It is green like your eyes.
Adrien finished the note in confusion. Did this mean Ladybug attended his school? If so who was she and did she love him? He hoped with all his heart that Marinette could love him. He sighed as he pulled out his homework, handed Plagg some cheese, and went to work on all the assignments.
Meanwhile, Marinette worked on homework the whole time wondering if the note to Adrien was too much. She can not believe she put that silly part in there about his eyes. Who did she think she was comparing his gorgeous green emerald eyes to the dull sticky note she scribbled some last-minute message on anyway? It is a good thing she remembered to sign it from Ladybug.
She finished early, then remembered the note Adrien had given her. She wondered what it said anyway.
Dear Marinette,
Did you feel offended by me somehow?
You hate me, right?
Sorry, about your parents. It is not enough, but how can we begin to understand.
My mother died about ten years ago, but my father refuses to move on.
It is not always easy, but we try to see the best in others.
Mari, you are one special, lovely girl, and deserve more than you have been given.
We hope everything works out for you.
By the way, the reason we sit away from you, Alya and Nino are because we are afraid you do not want us too.
Please accept my deepest apologies and know that we are here for you. We promise never to forget you.
Love,
Adrien
Marinette felt horrible when she re-read the note. She knew then that Chat was right and Adrien thought she hated him. She had to find a way to make things right with him, but how? It was not that easy to come up with a plan. Not anymore anyway. Somehow things were easier when her mother was around.
Now everything seemed difficult, foreign even to her as if she was caught up in a world different than her own. She sighed and decided she must speak to him soon. She did not know when or how she just knew she must take the steps to prove her love to him.
