Child Hero part 1

In this short story, which will be two parts, Alya is four years old. She wakes up to discover her parents are both gone. Not gone as in dead, but gone as in missing.

"Mom, Dad, it is Saturday!  Time for pancakes!" Alya squeals.

Alya gets no answer as she enters her parent's room all excited. She thinks it is odd they are up yet. She turns on the light switch and gasps.

The room is empty except for her. How?  She has not seen either of them since she woke up an hour ago. She got dressed and already saw her favorite cartoon.

"What is going on?  Where is everyone?" Alya starts to panic.

She can not be alone. She just can not.

Alya leaves the run and runs downstairs. She looks out the window.

Sure enough, the car is still there.  Strange, they could not gone far without the vehicle, right?

She searches the kitchen, the hallway, bathrooms, and dining room areas.  No one is there. She examines the playroom and last of all the living room.  Still no one.

All the windows and doors are shut and locked.  How then did they just up and disappear?

"Mom, Dad, please come back!  You promised me pancakes!"

Alya stomps her foot as she throws a tantrum. She frowns. It is her birthday and they did not even fix her special breakfast yet.  This is the worst birthday ever is the only thought on her mind now.
