Marinette's Fourth of July in America part 11
Marinette's POV:
Marinette feels Adrien let go of her and falls straight into the water. She does not mind since she is already wet. She sees him about to walk away so she reaches out and grabs his arm.
She is not sure what made her touch him in such a manner. It is not like she has a claim on him or anything. She does not like him, right?
"Where do you think you are going?" She asks.
Adrien's POV:
Adrien tries to leave so he will not act on an impulse. He can not do this to her or himself. He knows that she does not love him. It hurts more to have her act as if it means nothing to her than he would have thought.
He feels someone grab onto his arm and turns around. He sees bluebell eyes stare into his green eyes.
"Marinette, I want you to be happy," He repeats himself.
Adrien tries to loosen her grip on his arm. He sees she refuses to release her hold on him. He thinks goodness, why must you make this harder for me?
"Mari, let go," Adrien says sadly.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette grins at him as he faces her. She does not know what her actions do to him right now. She hears him repeat something he said once before now. She feels him try to pull away.
She hears him say, " Mari, let go."
"Adrien, thanks for rescuing me from the waves," She says.
She hears him sigh as he struggles to keep his feelings at bay. She places a hand on his cheek the same one she can tell must have been hurt when he held her tight against the oceans current earlier.
Adrien's POV:
Adrien feels her place a hand on his cheek. He shudders at the touch. He frowns as he shakes his head. "Mari, do not touch me," He begs of her. It only makes him love her more.
He feels pain from her obvious rejection of his love. He closes his eyes when she continues to caress his cheek.
Adrien wishes with all his heart she could love him. He slowly pulls away from her grasp and opens his eyes. He sees the surprised look she gives him but walks away.
"Adrien?" A voice calls out. He shakes his head as he walks to his towel where he collapses for the moment.
Narrator's POV:
As the day goes by, Adrien tries his best to avoid her. He finds it harder than he thought it would be at first. He enjoys a nice dinner on the porch to the place where he and Luka stays. Then, goes on a walk only to have the girl he wishes to avoid cross paths with him.
Adrien's POV:
"Look, Marinette, I wish to be left alone," Adrien says. He does not look at her as he speaks. He refuses to give her a chance to make him blush.
Adrien sees a few fireworks being set up and smiles. He knows his wish is impossible now just as most things are for him. He does not discourage the person from getting things ready for after dark. He sees no reason to spoil everyone else's fun just because of his crush and he does not see eye to eye.
He does not seem to notice when Marinette watches his every move. He pays no attention to his surroundings. He borrows a pair of jet ski's and begins to use them. He does not notice when Marinette snaps his photo. He ignores the girl of his affections when she rents a snorkel and goggles, jumps into the ocean, and begins to explore it.
Adrien hears a scream as he finishes with the jet skis. He looks up to see a giant fish or rather a shark as it heads in Marinette's direction. He rushes towards the area and stabs the creature hard in the back with a knife. As he watches it fall wounded before his eyes, he hears the gentle sobs come from the blunette.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette screams in fear as she thinks this is it the shark is going to use me as shark bait. Then out of nowhere, a hero arrives with a weapon and attacks it. She shudders at it falls with a wound. She sobs at the knowledge that Adrien came to her rescue again. She thinks this makes not once, but twice that he was my rescuer.
"Adrien, you saved me," Marinette says in surprise.
Marinette feels arms hold her close but does not protest. She stands still in his grasp grateful for his presence. She looks up to see the sadness in his eyes. She knows it must be because of her. She wishes she could make him smile. It seems he is scared too when she sees tears fall as he hugs her.
Luka's POV:
Luka smiles as he stands with Bridgette. He might not be an expert on the matter, but it sure looks like Adrien cares for Marinette. He is sure that the guy loves her. He winks at Bridgette and says, "Whoa, the way he holds her is rather something, huh?"
He sees Bridgette smile at him as she replies, "Yes, he cares deeply for her."
"Bridgette it is good how he takes care of her just as you make me feel whole," Luka confesses. He sees his girlfriend grin as he leans over and kisses her cheek.
Adrien's POV:
"Mari, I thought the shark was going to harm you," Adrien mutters.
Adrien looks her over to make sure nothing is amiss. He gasps when he sees her left knee. It looks badly bruised, but other than this she appears to be just fine.
"What happened to your knee?" He asks.
Adrien waits for a response and smiles over at her.
Marinette's POV:
"Goodness, Adrien, the way you carry on so, it is silly," Marinette blurts out.
Marinette sees him frown so she goes on to say, "As for my knee, I am afraid I did scrape it on a seashell earlier. I will be fine though, honest." She grins as she wishes he would not fuss over her so much.
She reaches up once again and touches his face with the palm of her hand. She hears his sigh as if he did not wish to go far without her. She sees his eyes stare into hers as if he were drawn to her.
