Marinette's Fourth of July in America part 1

Marinette takes a look at her calendar to check the dates. She notices it is still a few weeks away before the vacation. She can hardly wait!  Imagine her in the country, the United States of America, one where there a vast landmass she has yet to explore.

Alya calls Marinette to tell her something important.  It seems her folks have plans for the same week as the Dupain-Cheng's and she can not join her best friend. She is not sure what Nino is up to yet, but she does recall her parents invited him to tag along with them.

"What you are saying you are not coming with us?" Marinette asks in utter defeat.

"Yes, that is exactly what I am saying," Alya remarks.

"Good grief, that is not right," Marinette whines.

"Do not be so overdramatic girl, I am sure you can manage without me," Alya responds.

"Overdramatic, just who are you calling overdramatic?  From what I remember you needed my help just to admit to your crush on Nino, who just happens to be your boyfriend now," Marinette points out.

"Maybe so, but at least I do not go hating on other boys who do not meet up to my great expectations, unlike some people I know," Alya retorts.

"Oh, and just what is that supposed to mean?"  Marinette asks rather ticked off with her best friend.

"Ugh, you know what I do not even know why I am talking to you right now anyway," Alya blurts out.  She hangs up once again rather annoyed with Marinette's stubbornness.

Nino sees Alya is rather upset and rolls his eyes.  "Let me guess that was Marinette and she was unreasonable as usual," Nino remarks.

"Unreasonable is hardly the word to describe it Nino, but yes she was rather stuck in her ways as usual,"  Alya tells him.

"Ah, yes, sounds like the same Marinette we have known for years. The same one who needs to learn how to be more mature, but who also happens to be our best friend," Nino replies.

Alya nods her head in agreement with Nino glad he understands how she feels. Sometimes, she wonders where on earth she would be without him in her life. Then, again, who is to say?

Meanwhile, Adrien shakes his head since he believes it figures Plagg would not agree with him.  It is not like his brother could understand since Plagg has not spoken to Tikki in years.  He knows for a fact despite Plagg's denial he is still hurt that Tikki dumped him for Wayzz.  He does wish Plagg would just call her up and apologize to her.  It could not be that hard, could it?

Adrien places the completed necklace inside a small bag.  He sighs as he thinks about nice it will look around Marinette's neck.  This is to say if he ever gets the opportunity to give it to her.  Then, again who is to say she would take it if it did?  He begins to wonder how he ended up with a crush on a girl who still thinks of him as nothing but a pain.

He is glad her parents are nice maybe this does mean something.  He supposes he will have to wait and find out.

Adrien's phone rings and he sees it is from Luka. He groans as he recalls Luka is another old friend he has not heard from in years. Now, a friend is to put it lightly as the guy always did pick on him and brag about his latest girlfriend. It is not like he had a reason to talk to him.  So, why then did he find himself answering it?

"Hi, Luka," Adrien says into his cell phone.

   "Hi, Adrien, buddy," Luka states.

"What did you need?" Adrien asks.

"Glad, you asked, you see this summer is the time I go on vacation to the states," Luka tells him.

   "Yes, so?" Adrien asks.

"So, I was wondering if you wanted to tag along," Luka states.

"I suppose, but under one condition," Adrien says.

"What might that be an old chum?" Luka asks.

"You do not mention anything about your latest girlfriend, or if you do that you try not to brag so much," Adrien scoffs.

"Fine, it is a deal, especially since at the moment  I happen to be single," Luka brags.

Adrien is amazed to hear that for once Luka has no girlfriend attached to his arm. The first thing that comes to mind is this even the same guy from high school?

"I know what your thinking and the thing is my last girlfriend did not want to consider marriage.  What I mean is I proposed and she said no," Luka explains.

"So, anyway, I dumped her," Luka tells him.

Adrien rolls his eyes as the last thing he cares to hear about is Luka's troubles with his love life.  He hangs right after Luka explains the dates of the trip, and so forth.

"Adrien, you do realize you just agreed to go on a vacation with your own worst enemy right?" Plagg asks.

Adrien shakes his head as he states,  "No, Plagg, my own worst enemy is myself."

Plagg has no idea what his brother could mean by this statement.  He does not think to ask him either.  He just shrugs his shoulders and replies, "Well, in that case, have a blast on your adventure with your old pal, Luka."
