Lukanette Mother's Day Special part 8

            Marinette's POV:

Marinette wonders what else her family has in mind for Mother's Day.  She smiles as Luka kisses her cheek. She laughs when she recalls how John was upset to hear he is going to have another sister.  She shrugs her shoulders.

"Luka, why is Olivette so quiet?"  Marinette asks.

"Well, she did go to her room to get dressed," Luka answers.

               "Oh, okay," Marinette replies.

Marinette grins as their daughter comes into the room in her pink dress.  She notices they have on matching outfits.

"Wow, Mom we match," Olivette says with a grin.

"Yes, that we do Olivette," Marinette states.

          Luka's POV:

Luka thinks his wife and daughter look great in their dresses. He thinks John sure is taking his time on getting dressed today.  He decides to check on him to see what is keeping him.

          "John, you ready?"  Luka asks.

"Dad, do I have to wear a tie?" John whines.

"Yes, it is a special day," Luka remarks.

"Ok, Dad," John says as he puts on his tie.

Luka helps John adjust the tie, then goes back to the girls.  "Marinette and Olivette, you two look lovely.  This makes me feel so blessed," Luka tells them.

He gets out his camera to take a photo as John enters the room.

"Dad, let me take the picture," John says.

"Son, I can set it on a timer so that it gets all of us in it," Luka explains.

Luka sees his son look at him in surprise as he hands the camera over. He sets the timer and gets a few nice photos of him with his family.

             John's  POV:

John thinks I do not get why I have to wear this tie.  He does not like it.

He smiles anyway because he is happy to spend time with his mom and dad, and sister.

"So, what is the birthday plans?" John asks.

"Birthday is that today?"  Olivette asks.

"Olivette, you know it is not nice to tease your brother,"  Marinette says.

"Sorry, brother,"  Olivette remarks as she hugs him.

John smiles when she walks away glad to have a younger sister who loves him.

He begins to imagine the future when his other sibling is born.  He thinks maybe it is not so bad after all that she will be a girl too.

            Olivette's POV:

Olivette thinks to leave it to John to think about his birthday stuff when it is also Mother's Day and our folks anniversary.  She smiles just the same.  She believes it must be hard for John to know he is going to be a big brother again.  She feels sorry for him since he will be outnumbered at some point.

"Mom, and Dad, you know I think we should get a cake," Olivette says.

"A cake that is a splendid idea," Luka agrees.

"Yes, it sure is, but how about we make it two cakes," Marinette says.

                 "Two cakes?"  Olivette asks.

"Yes, one for John's birthday, and the other to celebrate the good news from the doctor," Marinette explains.

"Mom, that is the best idea yet," Olivette agrees.

                     Narrator's POV:

Luka, Marinette, Olivette, and John all get in the car to go to the store.  They arrive there a few minutes later.  The four take a look at the selection of cakes.  The birthday cake is simple to find as John just wants a chocolate cake, then the other cake takes a while to find.

A few minutes later, they agree to get the strawberry cake with vanilla icing for the other one.   Luka picks out a few cookies too since he knows Marinette has been craving those lately.  He gets some cool whip, and a few other things as well.

The family goes home, puts the food in the refrigerator, then goes out to the dance hall.

               John's POV:

John smiles as his mother and father dance together.  He decides to watch them since he is not comfortable dancing with girls.  He notices his sister dances with a boy after he asks her too.   He is fine with it after all the guy is not being disrespectful to her or anything.

He blushes when a girl comes over to him.

               "Hi," John says.

                "Hi, yourself," She says.

              "You want something?" John asks.

"Who me?  I do not know how to dance," She replies.

"Wow, it is easy, come on I will teach you," John says.

John dances with the girl. He thinks she is rather cute.

"Bye the way, I am John," He says as he shows her how to dance.

                "I am Nellie,"  She responds.

"Nice to meet you, Nellie," He remarks with a grin.

                 Nellie's POV:

Nellie thinks who would have thought when I came to the dance hall that I would get to dance with this cute guy. She smiles as she starts to get the hang of the dance steps.  She thinks wow, John is a good teacher.

She is glad to have met him.  She wonders who the man and lady and the young girl who came in with him are anyway.  She did enter the place with her grandmother.  It seems her grandma is busy chatting with some other adults inside the building.

"John, who is that girl that keeps laughing at us?"  Nellie asks.

"Oh, that is my sister, Olivette,"  John says.

"Sister, so you are here with family too," Nellie states.

"Yes, you could say that Nellie," John remarks.

                        Luka's  POV:

Luka notices Marinette grows tired soon.  He believes it must be due to her pregnancy.   "Dear, it is okay to leave if you need too," Luka says.

"Awe, but look at them dear," Marinette says as she sits down and points to John dancing with Nellie.   She then points to Olivette in the corner talking to a young boy her age.

Luka smiles as he sits beside his wife and holds her hand.  Ten minutes later, Luka taps John on his shoulder to tell him it is time to leave.

"Dad, can we invite Nellie to come with us?" John asks.

"Yes, can we and Steve too?" Olivette asks with a grin.

"Sure if it is okay with their folks," Luka says.

                  Narrator's  POV:

Nellie goes over to her grandma and asks if she can go with John and his family.  Her grandmother smiles, and says, "Sorry, but it is not a good idea."

Nellie tells John, "Sorry, but grandmother says no."

Steve's folks do not let him go either.

Luka, Marinette, Olivette, and John leave.  The teens are rather quiet now.  All four of them go to a late lunch now.

After lunch, they go back home so Marinette can relax.  She does get rather tired.  Once they are all inside the house, John frowns.  "It is not fair," He says.

"Yes, you are telling me," Olivette says.

"Sweetheart, our kids are disappointed there new friends could not come,"  Marinette says.

"Do not worry, they will get over it," Luka says.

              Narrator's POV:
Later, they all enjoy a slice of chocolate cake, then some of the strawberry.  John decides other than Nellie and Steve not being there to help celebrate his birthday the day turned out to be a nice one.

Marinette enjoys all her Mother's Day gifts and anniversary gifts, and Luka enjoys both his anniversary present and time with his family.

The Cuffaine family looks forward to the birth of the new little one and wonders what next year holds in store for them all.
