Lukanette Mother's Day Special part 6
Narrator's POV:
After the nice meal, Luka and Marinette went on a walk, then to see a movie. Agnes texts them to say John was asleep. Olivette was yawning. She wants to know if they can spend the night.
"What do you think, dear?" Luka asks.
"I think that is a splendid idea for them to stay the night,'' Marinette answers.
Soon they arrive at the theater where they enjoy some quality time together. Once the movie ends an hour and 30 minutes later, Marinette sighs.
Luka's POV:
Luka looks over at his wife as the movie ends. He hears her gentle sigh.
"Marinette, what did you think about the ending?" Luka asks.
"Do you want my honest opinion?" Marinette asks in response.
"Yes, why else would I ask?" Luka replies.
"In my opinion, the girl picks the wrong choice," Marinette answers.
"Oh, and what makes you say that dear?" Luka asks curiously.
"She just does that is all," Marinette replies.
Luka grabs her hand as they exit the place together, and walk to the car. Once inside the car, the two take their time on going back home. It is not like much awaits them there anyway.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette is grateful Agnes let the kids sleepover tonight. It was nice to have some alone time with her man. It seems like it has been years since she has this much fun with him.
She grins at him as he asks her honest opinion about the movies ending. She can tell he genuinely respects her and awaits her answer. She tells him but can see he is surprised.
"She just does that is all," Marinette replies.
On the way back home, she speaks up, "You see the young lady had two choices, she could have chosen to marry the boy who was always there for her or the stranger who was just passing through town. She chose the latter choice, but I thought the first choice would have been better."
" It is almost like she could not see what was in front of her for what it was real life. Then, as a result, the man she does marry turns out to be a total, and complete dead beat. I mean he did and he was so rude to her," Marinette explains.
"Wow, you know something that makes perfect sense," Luka agrees.
Narrator's POV:
One year later, on Mother's Day, Luka and the kids smile as they try hard not to laugh. It seems their best intentions well made a huge mess of the kitchen, to say the least. It is not like they meant to do it, but that is how it turns out.
Good thing, Marinette is an understanding person was the first thought of Luka's mind that day. The children have flour all over them as does he and the house is a disaster. Yet, all those things do not matter in the long run. What matters is it is the thought that counts, right?
John & Olivette's POV:
"Momma, momma, here you go!" John and Olivette say as they place the tray at the foot of their mother's bed. The two are full of excitement for what is in store for them. They know today is a special one.
"What is all this?" Marinette asks as she looks at the tray full of food and drink.
"It is your breakfast," John explains matter of factly.
"Yes, what he says, and your juice too," Olivette tells her.
"Thanks, you two must have gone through a lot of trouble for this, huh?" Marinette replies.
"Oh, no it was no trouble at all," John protests.
"Trouble, pfft, what trouble? It was our pleasure to serve you, mom," Olivette states.
Luka's POV:
Luka enters the room next and laughs. He can see the children look worse off than he first thought well at least they mean well. He sure can not argue with that anyway.
"Good morning, sweetheart!" Luka says.
"Good morning, Luka!" Marinette says.
Luka gives her a look that says, why is she beaming so much? He believes it is almost like she has something up her sleeve that no one else knows about today.
"How is my lovely wife today?" Luka asks.
"Fine, glad you ask," Marinette answers.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette thinks it sure was thoughtful of Luka and the children to do all this for me. She is glad since it is Mother's Day along with being John's birthday, and her and Luka's anniversary. No wonder she feels so overwhelmed it is a day jam-packed full of holidays.
To top it off she beams at the good news she just got from the doctor yesterday. She is just waiting for a good opportunity to share the news with Luka, John, and Olivette. The thing is she is not sure how to go about telling them or how they will react when she does tell them.
She digs into the food and swallows a bit. She must admit is tastes good considering it has been a while since she last ate any pancakes, eggs, and bacon. Let alone since she ate breakfast in bed, and with such quality service too. She grins over at her family overjoyed to be a part of it.
Marinette reflects on last year. She knows they all had their ups and downs, but in all, it was a learning experience for them all. This year, she was glad to wake up on this fine day. She could not wait to get up to face it with them.
"The food is delicious, and fresh-squeezed orange juice too, I must admit I am impressed," Marinette says with a grin.
John and Olivette exit the room to give her a chance to finish her meal. Luka gives her a kiss on the cheek, then leaves her too it.
