Lukanette Mother's Day Special part 5
Luka's POV:
Luka hears Marinette's tears. He feels sorry for her and wishes there were more he could do to help her. He begins to think the medication is not helping. He doubts it ever will.
"Marinette, John is in his room painting, and Olivette is doing a puzzle," Luka tells her.
"Luka, what are we to do for her?" Marinette asks.
"Her, what do you mean?" Luka asks. He knows that it is not Olivette's birthday until July.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette thinks, maybe it will help if I can place flowers and the poem I wrote on my baby's grave. She sure hopes so since this is the suggestion the psychiatrist recommended recently.
She looks at Luka in surprise.
"Luka, I have some things I would like to place on our baby girl's grave," Marinette explains.
"Oh, that her, " Luka states.
"The psychiatrist recommends it," She explains.
"Oh, then yes we shall go at once," Luka says.
Agnes POV:
Agnes shows up to help take care of John and Olivette for Luka and Marinette. She is more than happy to help out while Tom is out of town visiting his brother.
"Do not worry the kids are in good hands," Agnes says.
"Thanks for coming over," Luka says.
"It is fine. I was glad to help, now you and Marinette go ahead now," Agnes remarks.
Marinette gives Agnes a hug, then leaves with Luka.
Agnes waves bye to them as they leave in Luka's car. She thinks there goes one troubled woman.
Narrator's POV:
Luka and Marinette arrive a few minutes later at the graveyard. Luka parks the car, they get out, he locks the door, and they walk together to the grave.
Marinette kneels at the marker that reads as follows:
Our Dear Baby Girl, Stillborn, but Loved.
Baby Kathy Lee Cuffaine
Taken from us Far to Soon!
with Love,
your loving parents,
Luka & Marinette Cuffaine
Marinette places the poem she wrote along with the bouquet of flowers there. She says, "My darling, baby girl, Kathy Lee Cuffiane, I know you never had a fair start in life, but your brother and sister did. I also know they deserve to live out there days with me by their side as their mother. So, what I am trying to say is farewell." She sobs, dust off the grave marker, then sees there is a small, unicorn on ground and smiles.
Luka waits until she is ready before he says anything. He does not want to rush her. How else can he be sure she will be alright.
Marinette's POV:
"Luka, we never got to enjoy our anniversary did we?" Marinette asks.
"You are right," Luka says. He does not bother reminding her that he tried to on the actual date, he is just glad to see she talks about it again.
"Well, then, how about we go right now? I mean if it is okay with you, " Marinette states.
"Sure it is, besides Agnes is happy to watch John and Olivette," Luka replies.
"Yes, she is splendid, and I am glad father found her. She is good for him too," Marinette says with a grin.
Luka's POV:
Luka can tell his wife's smile is real this time. He smiles as he takes her out for a last-minute meal. This time his wife orders her favorite food, and he does the same.
As they wait for the food, Marinette hands Luka something, "Here, I know it is not much, but it is an anniversary present."
"Thanks, and here is yours too," Luka says.
Luka sees her grin, even more, when she sees what it is, or rather what they are inside the bag.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette smiles bigger than she has in years when she opens the gift from Luka.
"Wow, it is a picture frame decorated by you and the kids," Marinette says.
She looks to see what else is inside the bag. She sees a locket, inside is a photo of Luka and her at their wedding, and in the other side is a photo of John and Olivette making funny faces.
"I love the locket too," Marinette says. She stands up and goes over to Luka so he can fasten it around her neck.
She thinks this is the best belated anniversary celebration yet.
