Aurore is feeling a bit down. It is Valentine's Day! Everyone else has a boyfriend, a fiance, husband or someone else special to spend the holiday with. What happens when an old friend, her best friend from the past, shows up on her doorstep? 

  Aurore wakes up on Valentine's Day.  She sighs.  She thinks, everyone else has someone special to spend Valentine's Day with while I have no one.  She checks her mail and sees a cute red heart-shaped pillow inside it.

  The pillow has the message:
  Aurore will you be my Valentine?  I hope the answer is Yes!

   Aurore wonders who could have sent this to me. She hears a noise at her door and opens it.

   She looks out and sees a cute, tabby cat a kitten on her porch!  It meows over and over for her.

"Awe, are you the cutest cat ever?"  Aurore says as she picks up the kitten and brings it inside.

  Aurore says, "I will name you Tiger Lily," to the cat.  She picks this name because the animal reminds her of her favorite flower since it is so orange.

 Later that day,    Ding, dong, ding dong,  Aurore hears as someone rings her doorbell. She opens it to see who it could be that came to see her.

"Hi, Aurore!  How are you?"  Robert asks.

"Robert is that you?" Aurore asks.

"Yes, it is me!  I see you are as pretty as I remember you to be," Robert says. He blushes.

"Robert is been so long since I last saw you. It has been what? Two years, or was five years since we last spoke?" Aurore asks.

"It was five years since I last saw you, you were fifteen and I was twenty," Robert says.

"Yes, that is right!  Now, I am twenty and you are twenty-five, " She says.

"Do you have any plans for Valentine's Day?" Robert asks.

"Only to buy supplies for the stray kitten I took in earlier today, Tiger Lily," Aurore says.

   As if on cue, Tiger Lily meowed once more and rubbed herself against Robert's leg.

"Mind if I tag along?  We are friends," Robert says.

"Yes, you may because I would be happy to have the company," Aurore says. She puts Tiger Lily, back inside, washes her hands, grabs her purse, heads out the door, and locks it.

      Robert and Aurore go to the pet store together. They buy a food and water dish, a collar, a flea and tick collar, a small leash, a cat carrier, a cat bed, cat food that is meant for kittens, and some cat toys along with a bit of catnip.  They buy some worm pills too, to help treat the kitten for worms, and this kind says it treats for mites too.

    After the pet store, the friends go out for supper.  They might as well. The order their food.  As they wait for it, Robert hands a gift to Aurore.

   "What is this for Robert?" Aurore asks.

"It is your Valentine's Day present," Robert tells her.

"Robert, you did not have to get me anything,"  Aurore says.

  "I know, but I wanted too," Robert tells her.

"Thank you, Robert!" Aurore says. She blushes and thinks, is it possible that I love my best friend?

The food comes before Aurore can open the gift. They say the blessing and eat in silence.

   After they finish the meal, Robert asks, "Aurore are you going to open the gift?"

    Aurore opens the wrapping paper to see a heart-shaped broche inside. She smiles, puts it on and says, "I love it!" She leans over and kisses him on the cheek.

   Robert blushes more and Aurore laughs.  "What is so funny?" Robert asks.

"You because you look like a cute, red strawberry!" Aurore says.

"Thank you, Happy Valentine's Day, Aurore!" Robert says.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Robert!"  Aurore says.
