A Miraculous Easter Lukanette/Adrienette part 14
Adrien's POV:
Adrien stands guard over her as he determines that he will not let anyone hurt her ever again. He must keep her safe because he loves her too much to lose her.
He refuses to leave her side because he just got her to agree to be his girlfriend.
"Mari, it is okay to rest. We can go our date some other time," He says.
Narrator's POV:
Marinette continues to sleep unaware that she is Adrien's new place. She does not know he brought her here. She is so sound asleep and looks peaceful. She begins to dream a bit so she smiles in her sleep.
Adrien glances over at her and thinks she is the best thing to ever happen to him. He sure hopes one day he can hand her the box and ...He sighs as he shakes his head.
Adrien's POV:
Adrien thinks whoa, boy, do not get ahead of yourself.
He knows it does no good to think about the jewelry for now. It is something better kept for the future for this he is sure.
He leans over Marinette and gently kisses her cheek then pulls away. He sighs as he thinks about how the wait will be hard, but well worth it. He is sure because he recalls the words his mother told him when she gave it to him for safekeeping.
Adrien's Flashback...
"Adrien, I want you to keep this safe," Emilie says.
"Mother, what is it?" Adrien asks. He is so little he does not understand.
"Just be a good boy and hold onto it for me," Emilie remarks.
"Yes, mother, but what do I do with it?" Adrien asks.
"Son, when the times comes you will know what to do with it. Until then, keep it safe," She replies.
"Yes, I will, I promise," Adrien responds with tears in his eyes. He can not stop the flow of tears as his mother is taken from him in death.
End of Flashback...
Adrien feels tears in his eyes at the sudden memory of his mother. It was the last time he saw her alive, but he kept his promise. To this day he kept it safe despite not understanding why she died when he was so little. He wishes she could be here to see Marinette because his father does not care.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette wakes up and hears the small soft sobs. She walks over to him without a word and holds his hand. She feels like the moment does not call for words. She is glad she can be here for him.
She looks around her and sees the funny marks on the walls. She thinks so this is where you stay. She can not believe he never told her. She hears footsteps approach and can see hairs on Adrien's head stand up. It is almost as if the hairs know that Adrien intends to protect her.
Adrien's POV:
"Marinette do you trust me?" Adrien asks.
"Yes, but I..." Marinette says.
"Good then, stay here," He says as he points to under the staircase.
Marinette does not object as she slides under the stairs. She sees his things there and shoves the backpack and duffel bag behind her. As for the suitcase she sits on top of it this way no one walks off with what rightfully belongs to him. She will guard it with her life.
Marinette's POV:
Marnette hears the footsteps come closer and hears someone kick the door. She gasps as they almost get it open. She watches from her place under the stairs as Adrien blocks off the door with a piece of wood. She sighs a sigh of relief.
She wonders what the person outside the door wants. It is not like she can see much other than their outline from here. It is a bad angle to determine much more than this anyway.
"Adrien, what is going on now?" Marinette whispers.
"Shh, Mari, I will explain later," He whispers back.
Adrien's POV:
Adrien does not take his eyes off the figure outside as he speaks to her. He can not believe his eyes. He shudders to think what might happen if they get inside. He does not say anything to keep Marinette from being afraid. He can not let her shield him not this time.
He can feel Marinette shiver from behind him in fear. He knows now that she senses something is off too. He wishes he had not dragged her into this. He thinks well there is no going back now. He will do his best to keep his promise to his mother and to protect the woman he loves.
"Marinette, do not worry, I will protect you," Adrien says calmer than he feels.
"Adrien, please be careful," Marinette says as her voice trembles in fear.
"Mari, I can not promise you anything other than this I love you," Adrien answers.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette nods her head in agreement. She is glad that Adrien loves her. She can only hope tonight will not be night she loses him for good. She feels tears form in her eyes as the person kicks at the door once again. She wonders if they will give up or not. She is mostly terrified about what happens if they decide to bust the door in since she does have any weapons with her.
She does not say another word but remains silent despite everything. The last thing on her mind is will they both make it out alive? as she falls back to sleep under the stairway.
Narrator's POV:
The mysterious person tries to open the door, then scowls when it does not budge for them. Then, they kick it one last time. Nothing happens so they go around to the side door. This is the one with the piece of metal that is fallen in front of it. It does take long for them to discover this door is blocked too. They run to the back door. It is a tough one to handle.
Will they get inside?
*Author's note: Who is it outside the door?
