Chapter 5

Haley's POV:

"HALEY??"

"RILEY!!" I grabbed my scattered papers from the sidewalk and sprung to my feet, enveloping Riley into a hug. He still seemed shocked at seeing me but I had had the knowledge of them being there so I was a bit less shocked than him. Riley stuttered question after question of how I was there. I wished I could answer them but that was NOT the time.

"Riles, I'm as shocked and delighted to see you but right now, I'm REALLY late!" I said, letting go of him. That seemed to snap him out of his trance. He spun around as I side stepped him and he grabbed my arm.

"Wait, late for what?" he cried out, his voice laced with an emotion that made my heart skip a beat. I didn't get the time to answer him as I was greeted by two more shocked McDonoughs.

"HALEY?!?" Toby and Connor shouted together. I laughed as I ran up to them. Connor snapped out of his shock quicker as he caught me in his arms, hugging me tightly.

"Oh my gosh, Haley! What are you doing here?" he asked, letting me go and stroking my cheek. I grinned widely.

"Con, I would love to explain everything but-- OOF!" I was cut by something... SomeONE shoving into me hard, knocking the air out of me.

"HALEYYYYYY!!! OHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGGGOOOSSSHH!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE! I DIDNT THINK I COULD LIVE ANOTHER DAY WITHOUT!" Toby shouted slash mumbled into my shoulder as he hugged me tightly. I laughed and pulled him away but he wouldn't budge. I turned to the other two for help.

"Guys, do you mind peeling your brother off of me? I happened to be running really behind schedule right now and as much as I wish to stay here, I can't!" I cried out and sighed in relief as Connor and Riley pulled Toby off of me. I looked up at there flushed faces and my heart melted to the concrete floor beneath me. I smiled as tears threatened to spill.

"Oh my gosh, you guys..." I mumbled as I crashed into all three of them, Riley being in the center and Connor and Toby on either sides. We hugged each other with full force till I was sadly reminded of the time. For the first since I had been attending the conferences, I was tempted to ditch one. But I knew I couldn't because that one was the last for another week. I pulled myself away forcefully and held onto Toby and Connor's arms at some distance. They all had tear stained faces and I was pretty sure I did, too.

"Y-you dropped your bag," Connor mumbled and chuckled as he let go of my arm to pick my bag from the sidewalk. I didn't even realize I had dropped it. I glanced at my wristwatch and my eyes widened. I quickly wiped a hand over my eyes to wipe the tears away as I took the bag from Connor and smiled gratefully. The boys noticed the sudden change in my expressions

"What are you late for, Haley?" Riley and Connor asked in unison. I chuckled.

"I have a conference for university that begins in ten minutes and it takes me twenty minutes to get there," I stated, my insides churning nervously.

"You walk there?"

"Where is the conference?"

"How far is the place?" Were three questions I was hit with at the same time from all three boys. Even Toby had snapped out of his trance and held a serious expression on his face that mirrored his brothers'.

"Yes, I walk there and it's in this place---" I trailed off, taking a look at my now crumpled schedule.

"Melrose Avenue," I read off the paper. I boys looked confused.

"But that's a shopping district," Riley stated. Connor nodded.

"Yeah. Why would you be having a conference there?" I ran my hand over my face.

"Dude, the conference isn't actually a conference. It's more of a--- Look, I'm studying photography. What do you THINK the conferences will be like?" I exclaimed, my patience wearing thin with every passing second. The boys looked at each other, realization dawning on their faces.

"You're studying Photography?" Toby asked excitedly. I groaned loudly.

"Yes, Toby! Oh my gosh, I dont have time for this! I'm really sorry you guys but I have to go!" I said, walking down the street.

"WAIT!" I heard Riley and Connor shout as they ran up to me.

"You can't walk there now. You'll never get there in time," Connor stated. Yeah, that's for stating the obvious, Captain Genius.

"We have a car. We can drive you there in half the time," Riley suggested and I felt as though all my prayers of getting there on time had suddenly been answered.

"Well then what are we still standing here for? Lets go!"

Lindsey's POV:

"IKNEWITIKNEWITIKNEWIT! SEE HALEY? I WASN'T LYING!!" I yelled in delight as I hugged the boys for the umpteenth time. Haley rolled her eyes at me and smiled, nodding at my statements. I had come back to our room around four and Haley had returned an hour later, having the three McDonough boys behind her. She and I then explained our whole situation to them and finally, after two hours, they understood. Clearing her books from the study table in our room, Haley joined the boys and I in our "suite lounge"... Or should I say Sweet Lounge because it really was SSSSWWWEEEEEEEETTTT with its French windows and EPIC view!!

Laughing silently at my own joke, I looked around at my best friends and seeing that nobody was making the move to get the TV's remote, I got up and got it instead. I sat next to Toby on one of the three HUGE, squishy couches, while Riley was lying on one and Connor and Haley share the third.

"So what movie are we watching?" Haley and I asked in unison. We glanced at each other and laughed.

"That sounded so creepy," Toby mumbled to Riley, who nodded with wide eyes. I saw Haley roll her eyes.

"Oh please! I should be the one saying that considering how many times you guys talk in unison. At least now you know my pain," Haley remarked.

"You go girl," I said, causing Haley to grin at me. I grinned back.

"Okay! Enough about the creepiness of talking in unison! Can we decide a movie please?" I asked.

"I actually don't feel like watching a movie right now," Toby stated. Haley straightened in her place and nodded vigorously.

"Yeah, me neither man! I mean, it's only six in the evening right now. Lets do something else. We can watch a movie later," she said. The room went silent as we thought of what to do. Then, a light bulb went off in my head.

"I KNOW!! Lets play Hide and Seek!" I suggested, springing out of my seat. The others to look at each other and then back at me.

"Well, why not?" Toby agreed, standing as well. Haley held a smile on her face as she got up from her place and joined me.

"Sure, why not? I haven't played Hide and Seek in a while anyways," she said, swinging her arm around my shoulders. We three looked expectantly at Riley and Connor. They looked at each other and shrugged.

"Guess we don't really have a choice," Connor mumbled as he stood up as well.

"Alright. Lets play some Hide and Seek," Riley said, joining the rest of us. I looked at everyone and smiled. Well, time for one heck of a game of Hide and Seek.
