Three

Oakleys POV

The wind whistled past as I sat on the cold, metal bus bench. I wrapped myself tightly inside of my coat, stuffing my nose in to the neck hole. I need a car.

I'm 17, have a drivers license, yet no car. Im sick of having to wait for the bus in -7 degree weather. I looked back up, the tip of my nose close to being frozen as I examined the snow flurries falling from the sky.

I zoned off deep in to a blank thought, then snapped back in to reality once I heard the rumble of the bus approaching. I looked over at the black, white, and blue bus, standing up as it arrived. I quickly got on, paying the driver the fee as I hurried over to a seat, my body warming as the bus heat warmed my body. I looked out the window, resting my head up against the window and shutting my eyes.

"Do you mind if I sit here?" I heard a deep voice ask, I opened my eyes, looking up at the tall blonde with piercing blue eyes. He had a nice accent.

"Go right ahead," I welcomed, looking down at the seat.

He slowly sat down in the seat, "Thanks." He mumbled before pulling out his phone.

"Mhmm" I hummed, shutting my eyes once again. I then realized who was sitting next to me- it was Luke. That's the longest sentence that I've ever heard him say.

I opened my eyes, looking over at him. He readjusted the beanie that was sliding off of his head, he pushed it back slightly so it was revealing some blonde.

"You're Luke, right?" I asked. I know that sounded like a weird question to be asked by a person that he probably didn't even care to recognize but I wanted to start some conversation- maybe.

He nodded, looking over at me with his eyebrows furrowed sightly. "How do you-" He cut himself off as his eyes got slightly wider in what seemed realization. "Oakland?" He asked, confused.

"Oakley.." I corrected him, slowly looking out the window as I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

"Oh, right uh, sorry" He mumbled, his eyes wandering off to his phone once again.

"So when's your next session?" I ask, not looking over at him. My mind was amused with the passing scenery, and Luke had an uninviting look on his face, although I still had to fight back the urge of staring at him.

"Thursday unless your mom decides to show up out of no where again." He grumbled slightly.

I look over at him, "She just wants to help you," I reminded. Luke looked over at me, his eyes staring a hard look in to my eyes before he looked back down at his phone. I felt my heart thump quickly up against my chest, I shook my head.

Why is he so rude?

I tapped my pen too the beat as the song 'I Don't Wanna Be In Love' By Good Charlotte blasted in to my headphones. I looked down at the lined paper, examining my drawing before continuing.

I stroked ink on to the paper carefully, drawing an arch of a shoulder.

"Oakley!" My mom yelled, tapping my shoulder. I jumped out of my seat, my heart instantly racing from the scare.

"Yes?" I ask, taking in a deep breath to try and calm my harsh breathing.

"Goodness lovebug I've been calling you for 10 minutes!" My mom exaggerated, flailing her arms up in the air. "Anyways, can I speak with you about something?" She asked, drying her hands off with the yellow dish towel that she held in her hands.

My heart skipped a beat as she asked, I cocked up an eyebrow, watching her as she sat down on to my bed. "Am I in trouble?" I asked, biting down on to my bottom lip. She shook her head.

"No! Of course not, I just- I need to talk with you about someone..." She voices, patting the spot next to her on the bed.

I slowly sat down, watching as she ran her hand through her black wavy hair.

"And this someone is..?" I ask, trying to lead her on to continuing with where she was going with this.

"Luke."

"What about him?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.

"Okay, so," She huffed out a breath "I know that he comes across as rude, and most of the time he makes a rude remark, but I've been his counsoler for about 4 years now, and really, he's just.. well.. lonely."

"And where are you going with this?"

"I want to know if you can do me favor."

I lifted my eyebrows, asking her to go on through the facial expression.

"I want to know if you'll maybe try to hangout with him. Please, Oakley. Maybe it'll loosen him up. I haven't seen that boy smile, and you and I know that you can tell that he's in a lot of pain." She speaks sadly, her facial expressions being gloomy.

I sighed, looking down at my hands and picking at my fingernails. I know that my mom hates seeing people in pain and tries her hardest to help since thats her job, and I know that she had only brought me to his session because of this reason, yet I don't like how rude he could be and being the anti-social person I am, I most likely won't be able to loosen him up.

"Mom, I don't-"

"Please, Oakley," She interrupted. I bit down on my tongue, looking forward as I thought, then I gave in, either way I would give in because of how guilty I would feel.

"Fine." I spoke through a sigh. She smiled brightly.

"Thank you so so much, babe." She says happily, leaning forward and wrapping her long arms around me, giving a tight squeeze.

I watched her as she walked out of my room, shutting my door all of the way (Because she's that mother) then listened to her footsteps as she walked down the hallway.

Great, I have now made a promise to my mom that I would try to hang out with Luke Hemmings. How was I going to manage this? Maybe I could invite him to a party? but what friends of mine throw parties?

Then it hit me, even if she's not a close friend, she still invites me to this big summer party she has every year, and that just happened to be this Saturday.

He better not be gloomy at this party, because knowing my friends and I and

We won't let that happen.

{I SWEAR THINGS WILL START TO GET SPICY SOON. Ha.. spicy. ANYWAYS, THIS CHAPTER WAS KINDA THE ONE THAT STARTS TO GET THINGS GOING, AND I DIDNT PROOF READ THIS SORRY ILYSM}
