Six

Lukes POV

Unknown Number:

where were you last night?

Luke:

who is this?

Unknown Number:

Oakley.

Luke:

how did you get my number??

Thats where the conversation stopped, I kept glancing down at my phone, curious of how she had received my number. I never texted her, and I don't recall giving her my number, and all that she gave me on a piece of paper was an address.

I sighed, picking up the slim iPhone 6 and adding her into my contacts, I had a feeling that we would communicate through text again for reasons that I have no clue of.

I set my phone back down, looking back up at the TV screen once the commercials stopped and Bates Motel came back on.

I began to get back into the rhythm of things with the show, then was interrupted by the vibrate of my phone.

The screen lighted up, I bit down on to my bottom lip, then picked it up once again.

Oakley:

where were you last night?

Luke:

I asked you a question.

Oakley:

I asked you one too.

I sighed, what was I going to tell her? That I couldn't come because I had a breakdown over a dream? Over something that didn't even happen? Hell- I don't even know why I didn't go.

Luke:

Idk.

Oakley:

seriously?

Luke:

mhmm.

Oakley:

whatever.

Luke:

Can you answer my question?

Oakley:

Got it from my mom.

Why did her mom give her my number? I don't want her having it, yes, what she did was nice but if I wanted her too have my phone number I would've given it too her.

I didn't reply, she was obviously pissed off at me and I'm not in the mood for dealing with mad people.

I sunk into the couch, my mind focusing back on to Bates Motel.

I began to wonder what it was like- to live with a crazy mom, be psychotic and so on. Although, people who are insane seem more sane then the people who aren't insane.

Does that make sense?

What if insane people are special, for example, schizophrenic people. They see things, hear things, and feel things, what if they are seeing a part of this world that we just aren't able to see?

What if we're the insane ones?

What if they are living the real world?

So many questions fill my mind every day, yet there is no one who can answer them.

I let out a sigh, my thoughts drowning me. I soon came back in to reality though.

If I think about those questions for too long I scare myself, since all of them aren't about things that we usually never think about. Most of the questions my mind continues to ask are

Would anyone care if I was gone? and Should I leave this hell full of confusion?

"Mom!" I called for her, standing up off of the couch, shaking my head as I tried to focus once again.

"Yes?" She asked, walking into the living room with a shirt of mine in her hands. She looked up at me, her dirty blonde eyebrows raised, causing her forehead to crease slightly.

I looked over at her, inching my way closer to her. "Do you need anything from the store?" I asked, grabbing my car keys off of the coffee table and twirling them around in my hands.

"Oh! yes, could you just get milk for me?" She asked, folding up the shirt on to her thigh before placing it in to the white laundry basket.

I nodded, anxiously biting on to the side of my cheek.

I usually went to the grocery store too visit Calum when I either had nothing better to do, or wanted to get my mind off of things.

The automatic doors too the grocery store slid open, a wave of cool air hitting up against my skin. I sighed, walking straight forward past the shelves of magazines before heading over to the milk area and grabbing a gallon of the 2% kind.

The plastic was cold up against my skin as I walked towards the front of the store, going to the self-checkout section and buying it there.

After I swiped my credit card and tore my receipted, I walked down the registers, my eyes scanning them for sight of Calum.

I soon saw the tall, dark brown-haired teen, I walked up, seeing that he had no customers which was weird since the grocery store usually wasn't this dead.

"Hey Calum" I approached, he looked up at me, his dark brown eyes lighting up as his lips twisted up into a smile.

"Hey Luke. How are you?" he asked, his Australian accent thick as he spoke.

"I'm uh, I'm doing alright." I mumbled, "And you?"

"I've been good. Are you okay though dude? You're like.. actually talking." He commented.

I furrowed my eyebrows slightly, then nodded. "Uh, yeah I'm fine. Just feeling a bit social for the first time in my life." I admitted, scratching the back of my neck.

"Well I mean there's nothing wrong with that." He voiced, the smile still planted on to his face.

Calum and I said our goodbyes, before I began to walk towards the automatic doors. I rushed through them, feeling like something would glitch and they would shut quickly and crush me or something.

I looked down at my phone, checking the time until I crashed into someone. A small groan slipped from my mouth out of instant reaction.

I turned to look and see who I crashed into, then furrowed my eyebrows once I realized that it was Oakley.

"Sorry.." I mumbled.

"Yeah." She spat.

What the hell?

"Whats your problem?"

"I try being nice and inviting you to something, then you just blow me off and not even tell me why?" She snapped, turning around the face me, her brown eyes dark with growing fury.

Why was she so angry?

"Why do you care so much?" I let out a confused laugh.

"Just forget it." She spat, turning on her heels and walking into the store. "Oh, and by the way, watch where you're going."

I rolled my eyes, I'm not going to deal with this.

I didn't sign up to be yelled at by girls for small things that didn't even mean much to her anyways.

[ Hiiii, I had to quickly fit in that last part, so sorry for a shorter chapter! but how are you guys liking it so far?]
