Four
Oakleys POV
"Alright, well, it looks like were all done here for today." My mom speaks, smiling over at Luke. I watched as he readjusted the black beanie on his head, nodding as he stood up and pushed in the dining room table chair that he was sitting in.
Liz, his mom, lead us down the hallway towards the front door, I had to gain the courage, but then I pulled Luke to the side before I left to go home.
"Hey uh, I have something to ask you." I looked up at him awkwardly, god, I never realized how tall he actually was. He cocked up and eyebrow, asking for me to proceed.
"I was wonderen if you'd maybe want to come to a party with me this Saturday? I know that you don't know me very well, but you seem like the party type." I asked, shrugging to make things less awkward.
He bit down on to his bottom lip, "Uh, sure." He spoke shortly, scratching the back of his neck. He seems hesitant, like he was about to get in trouble.
"Alright, uh, well, here's the address." I spoke, quickly pulling out a sticky note and a pen, then scribbling down the address. Luke took the yellow piece of paper, examining it, then looking behind him.
"Thanks." He mumbled.
I gave a smile and a nod, then bit my lip, taking a few steps forward before turning around and facing Luke. There was something wrong, and if he was in trouble I wanted to help. Even though he's been an ass to me, My mom taught me to always help people no matter how bad they have been to you.
"Are you okay? You seem hesi-"
"Im fine." He interrupted, not bothering to look over at me before he walked off towards the stairs. I bit my lip, all of the worst conclusions coming to my head like 'is he having thoughts?' or 'Is Liz an abusive mom?' I stopped myself there, she seemed like the sweetest person in the world who wouldn't even hurt a fly- there was no way that she abused Luke. Besides, I don't think that I've ever seen a bruise on Luke, although he is always wearing long sleeves...
I shook my head and pulled up my jeans, then walked towards my mom. She looked at me, smiling and giving me the 'What did ya ask him?' look, I just gave a small smile, then looked back at Liz, my heart racing as my recent thoughts became more prominent in my mind. Why am I thinking like that?
My mother and Liz said their goodbyes before my mom walked with me out to her car. I got in on the passengers side, scratching my forehead as I thought.
"Hey mom, I know you aren't supposed to share any information but.."
"Oakley I can't share anything about him with you,"
"Is he abused?" I blurted out, looking over at my mom with serious eyes. How does she deal with this type of stuff? How does she deal with people who probably are just planning their death as they speak with her?
"Why would you ask that?" I shook my head.
"There has to be a reason of why he is the way he is." I exclaimed.
"Oakley nothing like that has ever been brought up, and Liz would never touch him in that way,"
"How do you really know that though?"
"Oakley, just drop it. I highly doubt that he's an abused child." She stressed to me, pulling out of the drive way. I looked back at the house as it became harder and harder to see. What if this guy really needs help yet everyone is just babying him because he's depressed?
Why am I so worried about him?

"Oh my god, so you invited him? Why? I thought he was rude?" Savanna asked, bombarding me with questions as she finished straightening the back of her wavy blonde hair.
"My mom wants me to try and hang out with him since he's lonely I guess." I admit, shrugging as I wrapped a piece of my hair around the metal of the curling iron.
"Well hopefully he won't be stuck in a hard shell of shyness when he gets there," She comments, I nod in agreement, continuing to look in to the mirror as I set down the curling iron on to my desk.
"Do you think that he's going to show?" I asked, looking over at her.
She shrugged "Just text him to remind him."
I bit my lip at her suggestion, I don't have his number; I only have him the address. "Uh well, I don't really have his number." I admit, fixing my dress. I examined my curly blue hair in the mirror as Savanna responded.
"How is he going to know how to get there?"
"I gave him the address."
She laughed "Silly, why didn't you give him your number?" She asked, setting down the curling iron as she did so.
"I don't know, I just wasn't thinking about it at the time." I admit, slipping on my black flats (Heals don't work for me).
"Alright, well I really want to see what he looks like so lets hope that he shows up." Savanna comments, grabbing her car keys. "Lets go!"

The house was packed once we had arrived at the party, music was pouring out of the house, cars surrounded the neighborhood, yet we thankfully found somewhere close to park.
Savanna and I went inside, our friends approached us, beers and red solo cups in their hands.
I looked around too see if Luke had arrived yet, what if he didn't show?
Well, I don't see why I would care, but it would be nice to see him break down his wall for a while. Who knows- maybe he's not a complete ass.
"Is that him?" Savanna asked, pointing over in the direction of a tall teen, yet he had brown hair. I shook my head, Savannas shoulders slumped in disappointment. "Well we can just stand here all night! We came here to party! Come on!" She grabbed my arm, pulling me to the living room full of people who still seemed sober. "Omg!" Savanna shrieked, dragging me over to a circle of people, I realized the glass bottle in the middle and smiled, I needed to loosen up a bit- If he doesn't come, he doesn't come.
"Oakley! Savanna! Join us!" Andrea signaled us over, people made the circle wider as they made space for us to sit. We hurried over, and sat down, I let my hands rest on the top of my thighs as I sat on my legs.
"Josh, go!" I squealed, pointing to the bottle, trying to get him to go since he looked hesitant about the decisions. His brown hair flopped to the side as he looked over at me. He sighed, then slowly leaned forward and spun the bottle. I chuckled as it landed on Savanna. I gave her side a nudge, she looked over at me with wide eyes, before crawling up to him. She leaned in first, interlocking their lips yet he pulled away quickly. "Oh come on!" The group groaned. Savanna shrugged, then crawled back to her spot next to me.
I looked around the house once again, trying to find the person I had been looking for- yet still not appearance.
Maybe he just forgot? Or does he despise me? Has he put a label on me already?
{ Will he show up? or is something or someone holding him back? Well you'll just have to see. Ilysm :) }
