You dragged your feet into his office and huffed in annoyance as soon as you stepped in and saw his face. He was staring at you, burning a hole in your face.
"You're late, Y/N."
He complained whilst glancing at his watch before looking back at you. You shook your head in disagreement.
"No. I'm two seconds early, Mr Flag."
"It's Colonel Flag."
You rolled your eyes dramatically, ignoring the deadly glare from the soldier.
"Whatever."
You mumbled under your breathe. He sighed at your attitude and walked towards you. You frowned and cursed your aunt for giving you this job.
"Shouldn't you be on field, colonel? Seems like you're wasting a lot of time in your office now."
You said, filling your curiousity. Rick gave you a small smile, making you tilted your head a bit.
"I've no idea why would Waller gives me an assistant?"
He muttered to you. You chuckled and thought about that too.
"Maybe because she wanted to keep her niece employed?"
You guessed, a smirk painted on your face. You didn't know why would Amanda let you be Flag's assistant. You were way too far to be a soldier. You couldn't fight, but you were good in weapons--- not using them though, just guessing their names.
"Try not to be a burden, Y/N."
"That's what I told myself everyday. No worries."
You said, making he cracked a genuine smile at you. Then he went to take a file from his desk and gave it to you.
"We're going to Belle Reve."
...
Why would Amanda and Rick brought you to the prison, you thought.
But there you were, hiding behind Rick's back while he was talking to the Killer Croc. Your hands were curled in fists as they tugged at his shirt.
"Rick, please hurry."
You whispered at him as he talked to the crocodile-looking-man. When he was done, he turned around and looked at you with a frown.
"Y/N, you can't hide behind me all the time!"
He scolded you. You looked down at the floor and kept your mouth shut. It wasn't your fault, right? They should've warned you about scary people that you would see here.
You were walking side by side with Rick, your head was still down, ashamed with yourself. You heard a sigh came out of his mouth as he stopped walking.
"Y/N."
You didn't answer him. You were still scared, embarassed, and so many feelings that you couldn't express.
"Y/N, look at me."
You bit your lips and looked up at him. He squeezed your shoulders assuringly.
"It's okay. You weren't trained for all of this. Waller shouldn't take you here."
He patted your back before you calmed down a bit. You forced yourself to smile at him and nodded.
"So where are we going now?"
...
"Whoa, that's so cool!"
You screamed in excitement as Deadshot showed his incredibly amazing talent as a hitman. As soon as he got a hold of the gun, he amazed both Rick and Amanda, and especially you.
"Cool, right?"
Deadshot smirked at you. You couldn't help but blushed as the hitman looked at you. You hated to admit this, but he was kind of attractive.
"Who's this sweet lady? Is she your girl— if she's not, then I'm gonna make my way."
Deadshot said to Rick. You pressed your lips into a thin line, but you weren't quite surprise with his words. Amanda smirked at you whilst you could see that Rick was curling his hand in fist.
Deadshot continued to talk to Rick about his price and all the things but you weren't listening. This guy was cool, but he wasn't good. Something about this job that sent a bad feeling into your veins.
You wanted to hate your job, but you had to admit that working with Rick was the best job ever.
...
Amanda was looking at him with a smirk on her face. Rick ran his hand through his hair and groaned.
"No, I'm not allowing my assistant to go on this mission."
He said sternly. Amanda straigtened her back and shook her head at him.
"This is an order. She will be with you on the mission."
Amanda demanded. Rick's eyes widen and he couldn't believe the woman that was standing in front of him.
"Y/N is your niece, Waller. This mission is freaking dangerous and yet, you want me to bring her along. Are you crazy?!"
He was getting impatient. He knew that the mission could mean suicide, and he wouldn't let the girl to interfere with it.
"She is my niece, and she needs to grow up a bit. But does she means anything to you, Flag?"
He was taken aback with her question but then he realized something--- that he was getting fond with Y/N. Since they gave a visit at Belle Reve, he has been so protective and kind towards her and he wouldn't let anyone or anything hurt her.
"Perhaps she does."
He answered. Amanda nodded and passed him a file about the mission. He frowned as she patted his arm.
"If she does, then keep her safe during the mission."
She said before walking out of the room. Rick shook his head in disbelief. He thought that Waller could be more reasonable with her decision, but he was wrong.
...
"We meet again, Ms Y/N."
Deadshot greeted you. You gave him a warm smile and took a seat beside Rick. The helicarrier was fulled with psycopaths, and honestly--- you were terrified.
"Why, honey? Never sits with criminals before?"
Harley giggled at you. You looked away from her and tried to calm yourself. You were mad at your aunt for making you go on this mission. This wasn't your place.
"Hey, you'll be fine. I promise."
Rick whispered to you. He put his hand on yours, and you interwined your fingers with his. You felt safe, at least for now.
"Stay with me, okay?"
"Okay."
He promised that he would keep you safe. You knew that he would keep his words but when your aunt was taken, you weren't sure about the ending that the squad would get.
Enchantress.
As soon as you saw the devil behind all of the chaos, you knew someone had to die to end this. You were right, that was when El Diablo has sacrified himself. He was a hero, that was what you thought of him.
But when the bullet shot through your chest, you fell down on the ground, shocked and hurt.
Rick ran to you, making sure that you were okay but he knew that you weren't. You couldn't speak, the pain was too much for you too bear.
"Stay with me, Y/N."
That was the last thing you heard before you closed your eyes and darkness took over you completely.
"Y/N, don't leave me!"
...
"Y/N, don't leave me!"
Your eyes peeled open and your chest filled with oxygen as you could breathe properly again. Rick's voice rang in your head. You looked around and realized that you were in a hospital bed.
You coughed, and that alarmed someone that you were awake. The door opened and Rick rushed to you with a broad smile on his face.
"Rick?"
You called out his name. He didn't answer, but he wrapped his arms around you instead. You were surprised, but relaxed on his touch.
"I'm glad you're safe."
He whispered under his breathe, but you could hear him faintly. You pulled away to look him in the eyes.
"What happened?"
Rick winced slightly. He didn't want to recall back about what happened to you. His heart broke everytime he remembered the way your body went limp in his arms months ago.
"I almost lose you. That's what happened, Y/N."
His voice cracked. You frowned slightly. You didn't know that he cared about you that much, but you knew it now.
"But I won't let it happen again. Not as long as I'm alive."
He said before kissing your forehead softly. You were still surprised with everything and the sudden change in him. He was surprisingly very gentle and very loving towards you.
"Rick, are you alright?"
He chuckled at your question and rubbed the back of his neck, wasn't sure how to answer it.
"Y/N, I've been meaning to tell you this. When you got hurt, I--- I was so afraid. So afraid that I didn't get to say this to you."
You gave him a nod, signalling him to continue his speech.
"I'm no good in words, that I know. But I just want you to know this."
He breathed in a sharp breathe and looked into your eyes lovingly. His lips were trembling, but his heart was fluttering.
"I love you, Y/N. So very much that words cannot express."
He confessed. You gasped, too shock too swallow his confession. He was getting worried, but he was ready for rejection.
"That was unexpected, Colonel."
You cleared your throat and looked away from him. It was all too much for you to take in. You weren't awake for months, and when you were awake--- all of these happened.
"But I love you too."
You continued, a smile was dancing on your lips. Rick grinned and didn't want any second to pull you in for a kiss. You gave in and smiled in the kiss. You pulled away and tugged your hand on his shirt.
"I was only awake a few minutes ago, remember? I get tired easily."
You chuckled. He nodded and planted a kiss on your head. He wrapped an arm around your waist securely, glad that you were there with him.
"We're all grateful to see that you're awake and well, Y/N."
Amanda walked into the room and gave you a warm smile. You returned her smile and she didn't walk towards you because Rick was glaring at her.
"No more missions for her. I won't risk her life again, Waller."
Rick said coldly. You put your hand on his arm, trying to calm him down. Amanda smirked at the soldier.
"She will still be your assistant, Flag. But no more missions. Just paperworks."
She shrugged. You grinned and mouthed 'thank you' at your aunt.
"By the way, she's a Waller. So keep her happy unless you want things turn awful."
Amanda warned Rick before winked at you and left. Rick sighed and pulled you into his arms.
"Get well soon, love. I'd love to take you on a date."
You laughed, making he grinned at you like a child. You rested your head on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat.
"Did I ever say I want to go on date with you, Flag?"
