I made the list of suicides in the Bible to show you that suicide is not new in any way. Each person had a reason that they felt was enough for them to take their own life. Even though we live in a new age we can relate to some of these people.

Abimelech was fatally injured. A study posted by The Guardian shows that 1 out of 10 people commit suicide from a chronic illness. In Abimelech's time, his head injury was chronic.

Ahithophel was rejected. Judas was beyond upset. Saul and his men lost a battle. All of these men have one thing in common, depression in some form. It doesn't matter the research you do depression is one of the leading roles in suicides.

Samson sacrificed his life, so one can say his death was a heroic act. Yet it still took Samson to kill himself to fight off his enemy.

Zimri was refused to be taken captive. This most likely gave him a feeling of hopelessness which is another leading cause of suicide.

So if you are struggling you might relate, or maybe not. But I do feel like it was a good and informal thing to share.
