There's who I imagined Aurora to be at the top ^^^

"We're having movie night tonight right?" Summer screeched.

I threw her a look. "Why are you screeching? And what's the use of using night and tonight in the same sentence?"

"Fuck off." She whacked me with a random piece of clothing.

"Whose place?" I hoped it would be Winter's.

Summer smirked, probably catching my thoughts. "Winter's. I know you're dying to be with him again."

Rolling my eyes, I headed to her dresser. "Girl, shut up. We literally see ourselves in school everyday."

"Schools are on break, sweetheart. You better savour this alone time with him before the leeches fix themselves to our eye candy."

"Sum, you're crazy."

"I know."

Summer caught my eyes in the mirror as I scrutinized the bruises on my neck. Her smile switched into a frown.

"When are you going to speak up about what he does?"

"No need."

Summer came up to me with a stern look in her eyes. "Aura, you can't continue suffering like this. Monsters like Sven should pay with their lives."

"Summer-"

"I could tell my cousin. Judy would totally help." A pair of honey brown eyes stared back at me. Judy's her twenty-nine years old cousin who's a successful lawyer practicing with a top-notch law firm. She lived with the Wilson family since her own parents died when she was just a child.

Laying a hand on her shoulder, I smiled. "I'll be fine, I'll live through this."

Summer's lips looked ready to push some more words but then the door to her room opened, and an excited five foot eight teenager burst in wearing a mint green T-shirt and a pair of grey sweatpants. He walked in like it was his place and not Summer's.

"At least knock, Cole. What if-"

Cole with a laugh launched himself at Summer, the both of them falling on the floor. "There's nothing I haven't seen before."

"Screw you." Summer wrestled him off her. I just shook my head and went to sit on her bed, watching them goof around.

"Oh no, you're like a sister to me. That's like eww." He messed with her hair. She pushed him off her and stood. I noticed the change in her expression.

Yeah, she had a crush on Cole. A very big big one... A big one. OK, you get it.

So, the crush. Cole was in the dark... The guy didn't even know his friend liked him like that because he wasn't a mind reader.

I've repeatedly told Summer to talk to him some time but her reply was always 'the guys always make the first move' or some shit like that.

I mean, if you like someone, I don't see a reason why you shouldn't go for them.

You're such a hypocrite. A part of me lashed back.

True that, true that.

Feelings suck.

Tuning back in on my friends' conversation, I heard Summer ask Cole. "Why do you look like you just got laid?"

He pulled her to lie on the bed with him. "Can't a man just be happy? I'm not Miss grumpy old woman here."

Flipping him off, I hurled something at him. "Ow!"

Summer laughed at us when Cole launched himself at me, tackling me to the floor.

"Get off me, you big oaf."

He tickled me until I could take it no more. Then, I pulled a wet willy on him, grinning.

"What the fuck, Aura!" Grossed out, he moved away from me and ran into Summer's bathroom.

"Fucking immature." A voice spoke from the doorway. Winter. My ears perked up, and I looked at him from the floor.

"Fucking creepy." Summer responded. He laughed.

"When and how did you come in?"  I helped myself up.

"Is that a trick question? The front door was open. What was I supposed to do? Knock?"

I rolled my eyes. "Of course, that's what civilized people do." Cole answered him, coming out of Summer's bathroom. She glared at him.

"I hope you flushed the toilet this time. I'm not going to deal with your shit again."

Cole stuck a tongue at Summer. "You're the only one that can deal with my shit."

Winter made a weird face. "Why are we talking about shit?"

Summer and Cole shrugged together, Summer pinching me when she caught me staring at Winter.

"What's there to talk about but shit? Life itself is so full of shit." They echoed together.

I erupted into a loud guffaw. Winter rolled his eyes at me.

"Alright, Mr and Mrs Shit, let's go over to my place. Shit car's parked outside."

A laughing mess, we all tumbled out of Summer's house, past her amused parents out front and into Winter's shit car.

***

Winter's house spoke of volumes of money. Money, money, money.

All our parents had plenty money, but Winter's parents could buy the entire planet with their money and they'd have surplus left.

Winter's dad, Mr Joshua Lionsheart owned a long chain of businesses in China and here in England too and often time had to make long trips abroad. For now, he was in the country until late October when he'll have to travel and return a few weeks before Christmas.

"Hey kids." I focused on Lauren, Winter's mother opened the door to us, smiling cheerfully as he hugged us girls first before Cole and her own son, covering his forehead with kisses.

"Mom." He complained, escaping inside the house. We had a good laugh at his childish behaviour.

"Good evening Lauren."

"Come right in, folks." She held the door open as we filed in through, Cole and Summer arguing about who should pass first.

Rolling my eyes, I stared instead at Lauren's African-American hair. It was no different from mine but hers was fuller and longer. She was of the African-American descent and Winter's father was Scottish.

"It takes me roughly four hours everyday to tame this wild forest up here." Lauren wrapped a hand around me. My friends were chasing each other around.

I grinned. "Tell me about it."

During school days, I had to wake up by four to get my hair ready in the morning. Who knew having so much hair could be enough trouble.

"My husband never understand why I'm always late to our date nights-"

"-women are always late to everything, natural hair or not." Mr Lionsheart appeared from the blues. He looked like he just returned from the gym. Hair sticking to the upper part of his forehead, a small towel on his shoulder a black wife-beater and black shorts.

"That's a sexist comment, Josh. Women are not always late." Lauren protested.

Her husband rolled his eyes. "Yeah, whatever you say. Aurora." He acknowledged me with a fist-bump.

Winter chuckled all of a sudden. Where did he come from? "Women are always intentionally late to everything, I don't know if they think it makes them sexier." He pulled me away, ignoring his mother's glare.

Our other two friends were already in the movie room, fumbling with some pillows. While Winter turned on the electronics, Summer hogged three pillows to herself. I joined the pair to sit on the huge fluffy couch.

"Come on, Summer, share." Cole pleaded.

"No."

Winter laughed at the frustration on Cole's face before switching off the light. Yeah, Summer was a selfish brat when it came to all furry and soft objects.

"Don't worry, I'll go get some more for everyone. Any one for you, Aura?"

"No thanks." I replied, eyeing him as he left us.

"You know he's still going to get one for you, right?" Summer spluttered when I stuck a finger in her mouth.
"What the hell? Cavewoman."

Cole's phone and the light from the television were the only sources of brightness in the room. And Summer hated the dark.

"Could we turn on the light?" She pleaded.

"No." Someone's voice echoed with mine. Winter had returned with a lot of pillows in his arms.

I bit my lips in embarrassment and beside me, Summer prodded me with her pointy elbow. Irritated, I gave her a sharp jab with mine and she yelped.

The boys looked at us weirdly and we just hugged ourselves awkwardly to cover it up.

"What are we watching?" Cole asked, eyes on his phone.

"The thing about Harry. Summer's choice, not mine."

I think I heard a couple of teenagers talk about it in my neighborhood sometime last week.

Winter started the movie and settled beside me. I inhaled the sweet fragrance of his Vanilla-laced body spray. He smelled delicious. "New body spray?"

He smirked. "Good thing you noticed. Are you comfortable?" The sensation of his lips touching my ear sent a wave of tingles up my spine.

"Yeah."

My eyes met his blue ones that always glowed in the dark. They made me wonder if he was human.

Winter handed me a pillow and turned to Cole. "Put away your phone, Cole."

"What are you? My dad?"

"I could be more than that. Just do as I say." Winter replied.

Huh?

"Come and make me."

Summer sighed out loud. "For just this once, could you all just shut up? And you-" She snatched Cole's phone and stuck it in her trousers, ignoring his comment about cancer.

My friends were a bunch of nutcases. Movie nights like this never went well, because somehow we'd end up arguing over stupid things, or Cole would fart, Summer and I would gossip about some rumours and Winter would just plug his ears with his beats headphones, leading to the ultimate death of our movie night.

After about thirty minutes, the room brightened, meaning someone just entered.

It was Willow, Winter's fifteen year old sister. She took after their mom's shapely figure, quite easy on the eyes but she was mean.

"Why are y'all watching a movie without me?" She stood in front of the TV.

"Because you're not one of us. Now go away and play with your toys or whatever it is that fifteen-year olds do." Winter replied.

He was always disagreeing with his siblings, Willow, Walter, his elder brother and Winner, his elder sister. He told me it was because they didn't like him too. Something about him inheriting the family's business. Walter felt it should be him as the first son, Winner because obviously, she was the first child. Speak of family drama.

"Shut up, Winter."

"No, you shut up and get the hell out of here." Summer lashed out. My friend could be all sunshine and rainbows but she easily got annoyed especially by 'whiny teenagers' like Willow. Plus, when she's at that time of the month, she could turn into a dragon.

"I don't like you or your friends." Willow admitted and left us alone.

"How do you live with that? I would have killed her and dumped her body somewhere. Thank God I don't have siblings."

Winter chuckled at what Summer said and flicked at Cole's head. His eyes were transfixed on the TV screen and he probably didn't hear all we just said. He has great focusing skills and could maybe also sleep through a zombie apocalypse.

My phone rang, or rather vibrated since I put in on silent mode. Sven. Every inch of joy in me drained out as I answered.

"Get your ass back home right now." He thundered. Winter heard and stared at me. I avoided his curious gaze.

"I'm at a friend's place."

"Are you fucking deaf? Come home this instant."

Chill, Godzilla.

When I ended the call, my friends were looking at me for an explanation. They all knew my step-father was an asshole but besides Summer, they didn't know he hit me.

"Mr Asshole's calling. I gotta run."

"It's late, Aura." Cole told me. As if the idiot would listen to anything I said.

"I'll drive you home, come on." Winter offered. He was already on his feet and heading out through the door.

"Be safe, Aura. Call if anything happens." Summer squeezed my fingers before letting me go after Winter.

"Leaving already?" Lauren asked, poking her head out of the kitchen.

"Yeah, my step-dad wants me home."

She nodded. "Are you going alone?"

"Winter's driving me home."

"Good night, sweetheart." She signalled me to come closer and placed a fond kiss on my forehead. Sometimes, I wished she was my mother instead.

"Night, Lauren."

Winter was standing by his car outside. He just opened the door for me to enter and silently drove me home while playing some music.

Twenty minutes later, we were in front on my house.

"Thanks for driving me home, Winter." I dared to meet his eyes.

He smiled. "Anytime, Aura. Let me see you off to your front door."

I wanted to say no but he has already gone out of the car. I followed him to the front door.

"Is your mom home?"

"No." Her car was nowhere in sight.

After pressing the doorbell, the events of the next couple of seconds happened in a flash. The door opened, my step-dad pulled me in and launched a punch at my pretty face. I was totally sure a bruise would form.

Sven was unaware that Winter was standing with me the whole time.

"What the actual fuck?" Winter growled. I could see the hurt and shock on his face mixed with anger.

"Who the fuck are you?"

Either he intentionally forgets the faces of my friends or he just had the memory of a goldfish but my friends have being visiting for as long as I can remember and he still doesn't recognize their faces.

"I'm her friend, you fucking asshole." Winter was livid with anger, waiting for a trigger.

"Is this who you're fucking with, huh? You bitch-"

That did it.

Sven wasn't given the privilege of completing his sentence because Winter's furious fist connected with his nose.
