Chapter 1

The two of you were now walking in the halls of the department, walking side by side as you dreaded every minute of not doing anything. Haru did all the work, with him refusing to give you a share of books to carry, insisting that your body isn't in the right condition for you to be carrying something so heavy. You just remained quiet in response, knowing that the male wouldn't exactly heed your words since he was too stubborn for his own good. Well, unless you take it away forcefully, that is.

So with this plan in mind, you waited for him to get distracted in his own thoughts before your hands sneakily crept its way towards what he was carrying. But it seemed like your plan wasn't exactly succesful since he was one step ahead of you, already knowing that you'd try to use this tactic. He immediately moved away his hands just as you were about to sweep it all away, so with that, you only grabbed nothing but air causing you to sigh dejectfully. You never really liked doing nothing. Haru just looked at you for a bit before cursing at himself for giving in, since the next that he did was give you one of the books. But, it was enough for your mood to lighten up. And enough for a smile to erupt on his lips as he stared at your happy form.

As the two of you continued onwards, the two of you were met with men clad in suits jogging away as if there was a state of emergency somewhere else. This alone made you rose an eyebrow, and as you saw someone you knew, you immediately opened your mouth to ask, "Hoshino, what's wrong?"

"It's nice to see that you're finally well, Y/n," and he bowed before you in respect. After all, you were one of the most highly regarded people in the department and it was such a great loss on the First Division that someone so dexterous such as yourself is now away from their care. They almost didn't want to hand you over to the MCPTF even if they had to defy their boss' orders. He greatly admired you for your work proficiency. And believe it or not, Hoshino became sullen for days after hearing that you were no longer in his division.

As much as he wanted to relay the information to you, the diference in the division made him hesitant. He truly wanted to answer you truthfully, but since this case is in no way connected to you, he bit back his tongue, only opting to say, "No, everything's fine," before nodding at you once more and sparing the man beside you a glance before running away like the others did.

You and Haru shared a glance.

"You sure you don't want to give me more?" You asked, in hopes that he would comply to your request. He only shifted all of the books in his other hand, before using his free one to flick you on your forehead. You just groaned in pain, man, he sure was strong.

Well, that was his answer. A physically painful answer.

"You sure are violent, aren't you?"

"That's what you get for being too persistent."

"Good work." And the chief immediately greeted you as he stood up, introducing you to your new colleagues. "Listen up, everyone. This is L/n Y/n, and she is now a new part of our team," and everyone was silent. Well, it's not like he needed to do that. "No need for that, I'm already acquainted with all of them," and as you saw the sort of embarrassed look in the chief's face for doing something that you already did, you just laughed it off.

"But, L/n, are you sure you're well enough to work today?" The pink-ette asked you, and you just nodded in response. "Yep," you said, popping the 'p'. "No need to worry about me, thanks for the concern though, missy."

As you walked in the office, your head whipped towards the source of the moans. Your co-worker was immediately closing the window, fumbling as embarrassment filled him. "Oh, is that porn, Kamei?" And Haru just slapped the back of your head lightly in a scolding manner.

"What, I'm old enough to watch one."

Cue another smack.

"Those guys in the First Division seem busy, huh? What have you heard?" And it seemed like Haru was already into business as you just kept on standby, hoping that your ears would hear everything they'd talk about. "No clue," and as the one who Haru was talking to said that, you just remained deadpanned as you sat on the seat beside your friend.

Until, the phone rang snapping you out of your boredness. Haru was the one who picked it up, and you listened in closely just in case something important was brought up.

"Chief, the security department is shorthanded," Haru started. "They asked for two to three officers to help out at the Ginza Car Expo," and once you heard the number of needed officers, you sure as hell would be a part of those. The chief just gave permission to do as what you all wish.

"I'll go. Y/n?"

Ah, he knew you so well.
.
.
.

"We used to eat there before.. Hm, let's have a date once we finish this. We haven't hung out in a while, after all," you proposed, yet, you didn't expect him stepping on the brake all of the sudden. As much as it was surprising, it didn't exactly throw you forward or anything. "Sorry," and the pink tint on his ears was truly hard to miss.

Nothing worth noting has happened. Well, aside from the car that you two passed that was luxurious as hell. Your keen sense of sight saw the man who was driving it, though. And might I say, he was fine as fuck.

"I heard some kind of prince of oil is attending," you informed him as you two were on the side of the road, watching the cars pass by. "Ah, isn't something fun going to happen?" You drawled out, bored as hell. "You and your fun," Haru just shook his head at you. Your eyes caught the sight of people running behind all those people. "Hm, first division guys?"

And as you two ran towards the two men in suits, you were quick to , "Hoshino, you said that there was nothing wrong." And as much as it pained Hoshino to say this, he took in a deep breath before answering, "This no job for you to meddle with." You rose an eyebrow at this. "Cold words. I thought that we had something going on," and you just sighed dramatically. He was quick to provide you some sort of reply, "I'm really sorry Y/n, but this is a task of the First Investigation Division."

"And if has nothing to do with you. You should be looking for some missing children or something " Some guy behind him said to you with a bite. "Don't talk to her like that..!" Hoshino immediately said. "What?" Came the glasses-wearing man's reply. "Even though she's no longer in our division, she's someone to be respected!"

You noticed Haru's hand clench into a fist, and with this, your eyes narrowed. You grabbed his hand, in order to tell him to not let his temper get the best of him, and you were elated to know that it worked.

As soon as Hoshino was about to use his communicator, Kato grabbed it from him in one go, making you cheer for your friend. It seemed like it was something important, for whatever it is that he heard, it made his eyes widen. You leaned in closer, hoping to hear what the other person on the line was saying, causing you to have the same reaction as his. Maybe this was more grave than you thought, and this was enough of a reason for you to get serious. Hoshino immediately took the communicator away, saying that this isn't a job for you both.

"There's a bomb yet the event isn't cancelled? What kind of tomfoolery is this?" You gritted your teeth in dismay at the organizer's idiotic way of approach. Because of him, the lives of many people are at stake. "We did our best to tell that to him, but the Official Residence weren't exactly so kind to listen to our warnings."

"And this is about that prince, no? They're using that as an excuse for this event to not be halted. I heard about him becoming the king.. I just can't believe that even though with something as huge as this happening, they still have their heads in the clouds just for that oil prince," and with furrowed eyebrows, you clicked your tongue. Hoshino's eyes were wide as he heard you say that. He has worked with you before, but never did you ever fail to surprise him with your quick wit. "These two are different matters, though. People may die," Kato commented with the same intensity as you.

"You've never changed, huh? That was the reason why you were kicked out of the First Division. You're too naive when it comes to your way of thinking," Hoshino said to him with a simper. "Stop." And he was quick to shut his mouth after he heard you say that.
.
.
.
"The explosives are in a white van with a logo of Fukunishi Cleaning," And 'nough said. "That's where it is," and your quick eyes were now pinpointed to the van. Just as you were about to take action, two robbers bolted out of the shop, making the security guard fall down. You were quick to rush to her aid," before glaring at the pink-haired girl in front of you who was wearing a mask. "Are you alright?" And once she nodded as a confirmation, you were about to run towards the girl before she shot you with something. Not a bullet since you're still alive, but the force was enough to make you fall to your feet.

Hoshino was about to rush to your aid, but as he saw the van was already speedind away, he took one last look at you before him and his partner went to their respective vehicle. "Please be fine.. Y/n..!" He muttered underneath his breath, teeth gritted. If only he knew that the situation for you wasn't as bad as he expected it to be

"Why didn't they use a real bullet.. And also, can't believe that a paintball made me kneel..!" You shouted to yourself in dismay as you stood up. "Are you okay, miss?" She asked you, and you just nodded with a smile. "Ay okay," and with a peace sign, you said. Kato was immediately on your side. Once the woman pointed her gun at you and shot, he was so scared. He felt his blood ran cold, and his heart tugged at itself painfully. But once he saw you out and about now, he could only just thank whatever deity out there that you're fine.

"25 minutes are left." Haru said as he looked at his watch. Then, you two heard something. Something that made you both immediately bolt towards its source. Turns out, it was from a car you two passed by some time ago. "What the hell is up with that..?!" And with gritted teeth, you ran and ran until you were in front of the mother and child before standing in front of them with your arms spread wide. "Fucking asshole. Driving like that..!" You would be more than glad if you were the only one hit since you were so used to this attempts of yours. But you'd be damned if you let him injure that mother and her child.

He swerved to the right because of you, and that made his car crash into a pole. "Serves him right. If he's gon' do that, atleast make sure it is only me he'll hit.. But ahhh, that was a wasted opportunity for me right there," and a smack on the back of your head snapped you out of your reverie.

"The fu..!"

"Stop being so reckless!" Kato scolded you and you could only muster up a peace sign.

Haru immediately went and opened the vehicle, but as he did so, a puff of smoke met with his face causing you to let out a laugh. Oops, wrong time to laugh.

"Kambe Daisuke," the said man introduced himself as you neared towards where the two was. "Today, I'm appointed as Chief Inspector of MPD," and he showed his badge right in front of you two.

You said, with your hands forming a thumbs up,

"Hot."
