Part 9

Khushi entered the Raizada Mansion looking gorgeous in her Indian attire. Her eyes scanned the hall looking for her Arnavji. And there he came towards them along with Payal and Akash to greet Buaji. NK started with his photography and for this moment she had to forget about her pregnancy and perform the ceremony.

They exchanged rings and Arnav let Buaji tie the 'Raksha Dhaga' on his right hand. She was so overwhelmed that it felt like a dream.

Soon all started dancing and brought them on the floor. She was so happy and of course danced while her fiance admired her.

All were so busy dancing and he took the opportunity to take her up and spend a private moment with her. While he was keen on kissing her, she thought about all but them.

Soon realization hit her and she went from the poolside into their room where he followed her after seeing her worried expression.

"Khushi, what happened?"

She turned taking a sigh of relief and prepared herself mentally to break the news to him.

"You are happy, right? After all, this is what all you wanted."

He was speaking of the wedding and she didn't how to bring in the topic of her pregnancy. Should she tell it directly or make him understand it indirectly.

'Arnavji, I'm pregnant!'

'No, no, too straight. It sounds like I'm not telling but throwing it on his face'

'Arnavji, we are going to be parents.'

'Too mature...think about something else Khushi.'

And her rehearsal started in her mind about the different ways of admitting but only to be refused by the one or another reason.

'Arnavji, you're going to be a father...'

'Urrgh...I'm also going to a mother...'

'What the-...Isn't it obvious?'

"KHUSHI" She looked up at him with a jerk. He had been calling her but now finally shook her yelling.

"Ji?" Her quick instant reply as she got scared at his flip out.

"Khushi, tum thik to ho na?" He asked now cupping her left cheek with one hand. (You are ok, na?)

She nodded with a faint smile as she saw the concern in his eyes for her. She looked down not wanting him to read the uneasiness in her eyes. She knew he could do that!

On the other side Arnav couldn't understand what suddenly got into her. She was fine and happy just minutes ago and now her face is hanging low.

What is she hiding and why isn't she telling him about her worries. But he knew how to get her to speak.

He pulled her chin up to make her look in his eyes.

"I know, something's troubling you. What's wrong, Khushi? Why can't I see happiness on your face?" He asked holding her upper arm and looking deep into her eyes.

"Why shouldn't I be happy? I'm getting the wedding of my dreams. Believe me Arnavji, I'm very happy." Her eyes moisten as she answered him and threw herself in his arms. He gladly took her in his arms but still felt she isn't really well.

"Arnavji...I...I am pregnant."

And what he heard next made the ground slip out of his feet. He stood still trying to understand the meaning of what she just said.

She pulled back of the hug and looked at him expecting a reply. Anything! She had gathered all her courage and it took a lot if guts for her to tell him about her expecting.

And here she was now waiting for him to say something as she didn't know herself what to do. It was their wedding and if people or even if only Dadi becomes aware of her pregnancy, a havoc will be wreaked. People will point fingers at her and God knows what all she will utter about her and her family. They will once again have to bear humiliation because of her.

Her eyes welled up only at the thoughts and soon tears escaped her eyes. And it was then, that he came out of the kind of shock and realized she was sobbing.

He wiped off her tears and urgently pulled her closer taking her in a warm hug and stroke her hairs.

"Ssh, it's ok Khushi. Don't cry. We will find a solution." He tried to console her.

"We-we can abort it." He said without thinking much. She was crying and if she doesn't want that child then why don't abort. Least he was aware of what was going in her mind actually.

Khushi gasped as she heard the word. Did he just tell her to abort it? Their baby! The symbol of their love! She pulled back freeing herself from his eyes and turned without looking at him once.

'He doesn't want the baby...he wants me to abort it!'

She slowly moved out towards the poolside as she couldn't breathe properly in the room and needed some fresh air.

Again fresh tears formed in her eyes coming out and she tried to control herself but she just couldn't. He was talking about abortion. She knew he doesn't like kids and can't get along with them but she didn't expect him to do this to her and his own child. Abortion! She doesn't want to kill her unborn child. It's not right!

'Devi Maiya, please help me. What should I do? Arnavji doesn't want the baby.'

She cried out loud again and felt him turning her around from behind. But at the moment, the last she wanted to do was face him. How can he expect from her to abort their child?

He took her in his arms and let her cry. He wasn't able to think right and handle the situation. What is he suppose to say at such a time. If she is not happy and doesn't want the child then he can't do anything else but suggest her to abort it. She is the one bearing the fetus inside. She has the right to decide whether she wants to keep it or not. He won't force her into anything. But it was strange for sure as Khushi loved kids. Why was she not happy about her being a mother soon?

Both had questions raising in their minds but didn't ask the other as the current situation was difficult for both of them.

She pulled herself together and wiped off her tears. She can't cry now. If he doesn't want the baby then may be, it's for the good only that he straightly said it now. It won't be of any use if he won't be able to get along with his child later. Devi Maiya will give them a child later when he is also ready for one.

"Ok Arnavji, I will ab-...abort it if you don't want it. We can have a baby later when you are ready." She parted herself from the hug and putting a stone on her heart, she let it out while trying to smile.

"It's not about me being ready or not. I thought you're not happy and don't want the child yet so that's why I suggested it." He cleared up shocked and horrified. She thought he doesn't want the baby!

"That means you don't want me to abort it?" Immediately a smile adorned her face as he shook his head and again she was on the verge of weeping.

"But then why are you crying if you are happy about being pregnant?" A confused Arnav asked as again fresh tears were fondling her cheeks.

"Because it's my wedding and I'm pregnant." She innocently pouted looking in his eyes and making him roll his eyes in disbelief.

"You're really unbelievable." He chuckled and pulled her closer to tug the only hair strand behind her ear that was waving in front of her face because of the wind.

"No, Arnavji.I t's not a joke." She pushed him lightly to make him face her. And he deliberately looked at her as she got serious.

"What will all the people say? Our families will have to face humiliation again because of me." She lowered her eyes letting the lone tear drop fall on the ground.

"Khushi I'm here na. I won't let anyone point a finger on you or our families." He tried to secure her but in vain.

"And what about Dadiji? You know her well." She uttered her fear out taking a breath.

"I will handle everyone. Even Dadi. You don't have to worry. Just trust me." He cupped her cheeks and declared.

"I trust you Arnavji, but whom all will you answer? People might not talk in front of us but they will for sure talk behind our back." She stated with certainty and he knew she was right. People like his Dadi will for sure talk behind their back and insult Khushi.

"But nobody will say anything if they don't know about it." He said making her look with uncertainty

"You mean...we won't tell anyone something about it?" She asked for confirmation.

"I don't have any problem. But you care about the society too much. I don't want anyone to insult you even if it's behind our back." She knew his every word was true. He can't see her in any kind of pain and can't bear her humiliation. He would take it with anyone only for her.

"But Arnavji, our families have the right to know it. You know na, that day...Nani was asking us to her a grandchild soon." She lowered her eyes smiling as more blood flew through her cheeks than usual and cause her blushing.

"You can tell your family. But I don't think it's wise to tell Nani as Dadi is smarter than you think. She will get it out of her and abuse you afterward. And I don't want her to question your dignity." He fisted his hand in anger thinking about that day Dadi was accusing her for living with him without a proper wedding.

"Alright. But both families are equal to me. So if we can't tell it our family then I also don't want to tell it my family. It will be unfair na." She pouted explaining her decision. He was so touched. How can someone be so pure by heart? Here she is, loves his family equally as her own and there is Dadi who blames her for everything and doesn't leave any chance of insulting her. Sometimes he feels ashamed for having such a grandmother.

Seeing his face, she made it out what he was thinking and wrapped his back in her arms hugging him tight. He responded immediately and placed a soft kiss on her forehead.

"By the way, I want to talk to your doctor and-" He declared soon pulling back.

"I didn't go to a doctor yet. I used a pregnancy test." She told for his information.

"Then I will make an appointment for tomorrow." He announced in a commanding tone.

"And don't jump around as usually and try to behave mature and take care of yourself." He ordered making her open her eyes and mouth wide.

"I don't jump around! And for your kind of information, I'm more mature than you. I can very well take care of myself" She said folding her arms across her chest with her head held high.

"Oh ya, I know." He affirmed sarcastically making her flare her nose in fury and she angrily marched from there but only to slip and land in his strong arms who looked at her with raised brows.

She made a face and stood up looking here and there. Finally humphing once she slowly moved in the room to refresh her face that was covered with the dried tears stains.

"Paagal" He shook his head and smirked at his crazy wife.
