- Chapter Twelve -
"Primrose Armitage."
Primrose left soon after Diego, not wanting to hear more of Five's story about the apocalypse. If this was her breaking point, then she had to accept it. There was no smile on her face as she walked through the same alleyway she had before, with Luther and his two brothers. Her feet were bare and she took slow steps, careful not to step on any screws or needles.
She winced as her foot stepped onto the normal street, a piece of gravel under her foot. Carefully, she slowly trailed her way to the nearest store that sold shoes. She eventually found one, a lot of odd looks were received entered bare foot, but she waved them off and went straight to the women's section.
Prim purchased a pair of casual black sneakers, as well as white socks to wear and now she could walk normally down the streets of New York. Her head was swimming of places to go, her apartment? No, too many reminders of the things she ma never get back again. She figured it wouldn't be weird to go back to the academy, seeing that they were all, kind of friends, close acquaintances at most.
The academy it was. Primrose pushed the door open and walked into the entrance hall, it didn't quite have the same affect on her as it did the previous times. The chandelier was still smashed on the floor and it seemed empty and she couldn't decide whether or not that was a good thing. Her stomach rumbled and she looked around the hall once again before going into her purse for a leftover cookie that she didn't eat before.
"Rosie?"
The cookie dropped out of her hand as her head snapped up at the familiar voice. There he was, Klaus, stood in a purple t-shirt, a green overcoat on with black jeans. Her body froze for just a second as she stared at him, snapping out of her trance and flinging her arms around his neck. They both stumbled back but stayed stood up as they rocked side to side, Prim sobbing into his shoulder with joy and him rubbing her back comfortably.
She parted from him and held his head in her hands, placing a kiss to his forehead, then his nose and then both of his cheeks before embracing him again. He lazily brought his arms around her frail body again and hugged her tightly. "I missed you." She laughed, wiping her tears with the sleeve of her pink jumper, her mascara was now smudged all over the lightly colored jumper. Her face went serious and she grabbed his face again, checking for any injuries.
"What happened here?" He looked at the trashed chandelier.
"You look like shit." Diego commented, coming in from out of nowhere, holding a briefcase in his hand.
"Diego." Primrose warned, narrowing her eyes slightly, the man was taken aback by her harsh demeanor, but he quickly regained himself, he knew that this would've been hard on her.
"Sorry, sugar." He muttered, the world felt quite different on his tongue now but he wasn't sure why.
"Why, thank you. Hey, where are you going?" Klaus replied to him, watching him walk past the chandelier nonchalantly.
"Nope."
"What?" He met his brother on the other side of the chandelier, Primrose holding onto his shoulder as if he would disappear straight from her sight.
"I'm not giving you a ride." Diego shook his head.
"Oh, come on man. You know I can't drive and Rosie does not look fit to do so." He said the last bit in a stage-whisper, glancing back at the strawberry-blonde who didn't seem to be affected by the comment as she stayed close to him.
"I don't c-" The vigilante started to stutter, but Klaus sighed and interrupted, holding a finger up to him.
"Fantastic, give me two minutes, I'll go and get my things." He patted his brother on the chest and disappeared up the staircase. Diego looked at Prim and sighed, she shrugged lightly with a smile and went after her friend.

Klaus had requested to be dropped off at a veteran bar and Prim insisted that she go with him, but he refused. So, she asked Diego what he was doing, turns out he was going to go after the guys in the mass, like he said. She also insisted that she came with him but he was quick to protest. 'It's too dangerous.' He had said, to which the woman scoffed sand let her eyes glow purple.
The two were now sat in Diego's car, watching Klaus walk into the bar. "I'm worried about him." Prim said and looked out of the window solemnly. "I wish he'd talk to me." Her eyes pooled with tears again, now that she had cried once, it seemed that she couldn't stop. Klaus had used to tell her everything now he was stalking off to veteran bars in the middle of the day.
A hand placed itself on her knee and she looked to Diego, who was looking at her with the softest expression he could muster. "It's going to be okay, I'm worried too, which is why we're going to go in there." He nodded and she agreed, putting her hand on his as she leant her head back against the seat, huffing.
"God, I'm sorry about me crying all the time. This week has been so emotional, I mean-"
"Prim." He interrupted and she looked at him again. "It's okay. You can cry all you want, you've had a rough life and yet you were still smiling just days ago."
"I know, I just...I feel like everybody's moods down with me and I hate it-
"Who are you?"
"What?" She furrowed her eyebrows at him, neither realizing their hands were still touching as they looked straight at each other.
"Who are you?"
"Primrose Armitage."
"Yes, you can do this. One more time, who are you?" He was more serious now and it felt as if more hope was being instilled within her as she looked into his eyes, subconsciously tightening her grip on his hand as she nodded to herself.
"I'm Primrose Armitage!"
"That's right! And you're sweet as sugarcane."
Primrose nodded one more time to herself and removed her hand from Diego's, the man looked down at his hand and quickly removed it from her knee with a clear of his throat. But all sounds left his mouth as she leaned over ad quickly kissed his cheek before climbing out of the passenger side, ready to walk into the veteran bar.
He was still for a moment in shock as he stared at the now closed passenger seat door. Prim knocked on the window and gestured to the bar with her head and he snapped out of his trance, nodding his head and walking out of the car, catching up with the strawberry-blonde.
The two walked in and immediately spotted Klaus, he was staring at the pictures of armies over the years with a proud, fond smile on his face, his eyes glossy with tears. Diego approached him first and clamped a hand on his shoulder. "Just go away, please." He sighed.
"Not until you talk to me." Diego said.
"Us." Prim corrected, coming out from behind the man and Klaus smiled at her presence as though he was just seeing her for the first time she got back. He looked back to the picture he was staring sat before and muttered a sentence that sounded like 'This is the woman I told you about.'
"Hey, guys." A man said from behind them and the newcomer turned to see a sot, grey-haired man looking at them. "This bar? It's for vets only." He said.
"I am a vet." Klaus replied, still staring at that same picture. Diego looked at Primrose, who shrugged with the same confused expression that was mixed with concern.
"Really?" The unnamed veteran chuckled mockingly, "Where'd you serve?"
"None of your business."
"You got balls comin' in here, pretendin' you're one of us." He said.
"h, I have every right to be here, just like you." Klaus turned around slowly as he seethed through gritted teeth. "Asshole."
The veteran took a threatening step forward and Diego stood in front of him, trying to diffuse tension as Primrose went to Klaus and rubbed his back comfortingly, he seemed to melt into her touch and started to play with her hair, pouting slightly. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, calm down, Marine. All right? My brothers just had a few too many." Diego explained, which was sort of true. "Let's just call it a day, all go our own way."
"Sure thing," The veteran said and Prim smiled gratefully at him, redirecting her attention to Klaus, who had turned back to the wall of pictures, "As long as you apologize." Klaus giggled and Diego shared a look with Prim as he looked back towards the veteran.
"Fine." He said softly, "I'm sorry, he's sorry, she's sorry. We're all sorry. So...are we good?"
"I want to hear him say it."
"Sir, we're just trying to-" Primrose started, but the man scoffed and interrupted her.
"Shut up, bitch."
Prim's eyes widened in shock as she leaned back slightly and stared at the man. Like a fire ignited in Diego's eyes, he looked at the man harshly and gritted his teeth. "Hey-" He poked a finger at him.
"No, no, no. Rosie, Diego, he's right." Klaus sighed and wheeled around to the group again. "I'd like to apologize, that you...are depriving some village of their, idiot!" He raised his voice. The veteran swung his fist at his face, but Klaus ducked, popping up again to bang his head against his. Another man from the bar came to swing at Klaus, but Diego stepped forward to take care of him.
The man from before got up and approached Klaus again, but this time, Primrose got to him before he could lay a finger on her friend and twisted his arm around his back, he gasped in pain as she kicked his behind and he toppled forward. There was lots of yelling as Klaus jumped on someone's back and everybody began to fight, Prim took on two guys at once, using her old training.
"Never." She punched someone in their stomach. " try to touch." A kick was delivered to another's stomach. "Him again." A poor man was flung over her onto a table as she used all of her built up strength to flip him over.
"Damn, sugar." Diego exclaimed, his eyes wide as he looked at the woman.
"New nickname?" She asked with a small smile.
"If you want."

After the scene in the bar, the three retreated to the car, where Klaus revealed that he had lost somebody important to him, which both adults knew how he felt. Then he saw one of the two people who had tortured him, which piqued Prim and Diego's interest. The three were now outside of a motel that apparently was where Klaus had been held by Hazel and Cha-Cha, sat in a car behind an ice cream truck, Diego had just planted something under the car that would create a 'distraction' as he said.
In truth, Primrose was quite scared at what he had planned.
"Bingo." Diego mumbled when some curtains closed in one of the rooms.
"You do know that killing these people is not gonna make you feel any better." Klaus drank straight from a bottle of alcohol, Primrose was looking at him from the back seat with an upset expression.
"Yeah but when it's done," Diego replied as Klaus continued to chug some of the drink. "I'm gonna sleep like a baby."
"And, he's not killing them." Prim remarked, leaning forward from the backseat and grabbing the control off of Diego. "I am."
"No you're not." The two brothers said in unison, the one in the drives seat reached back and grabbed the control off of the woman, whilst raising an eyebrows.
"Just because you're slightly less sugar sweet than usual doesn't mean you should go around on a killing spree." Diego joked and she nodded to herself, huffing and crossing her arms like a grumpy teenager.
Hazel then exited the room with a small bucket in his hand. The three adults in the car watched as he walked away, sighing to himself after looking around.
"Stay in the car." The driver ordered.
"What are you talking about? This guy tortured me." Klaus argued, and Primrose nodded, beginning to her out of the vehicle blur Diego had put the child lock on the door. She turned and gave him an incredulous as he shrugged carelessly.
"I have a plan."
