- Chapter Seventeen -
"I think I might like you."
The three adults carried the boy back to the academy for somebody to do a more thorough checkup, to see if he was okay, since Primrose hadn't dealt with anyone passed out before, she didn't know what to do. But luckily, half way there, he had woken up, though he was still sluggish. They were shuffling into the entrance hall, his limp body in their arms.
"We should've taken him to the hospital." Allison said.
"A kid with a shrapnel wound might raise some questions." Five said lazily.
"Yeah, well, so does that murder and love shrine in Harold Jenkins' attic." Allison countered as they shuffled into the living room.
"Primrose did heal it, though, so that's good, thanks Primro- ow!" He winced and they halted, looking down at him, Prim raised his sweater and saw that the wound had torn open again, a bit of shrapnel still lodged in.
"Can that happen?" Diego looked warily at his brothers stomach to his elbow wound and then back to Primrose, who shrugged and smiled apologetically. They set Five down and he groaned in pain.
"He's losing a lot of blood. What do we do?" Allison shrugged her jacket off and pressed it against her brother's stomach wound.
"I can try again? Get some tweezers for the rest of the shrapnel and heal the wound again?" Primrose suggested and Diego looked at her, opening his mouth to speak but something behind the woman caught his eyes, his mother was walking about the house and he made his way over to her, forgetting about Five for the time being.
Primrose turned to look at where he was going, but saw Grace and left him to it, rushing to find some tweezers, or anything she could used to get the rest of the shrapnel, she found a small pair and winced at how much it was going to hurt him, she turned to go back, but Grace was sat there, tending to it and she smiled softly, walking over to Diego.
"How is she walking?" She whispered quietly, when Hazel and Cha-Cha attacked the academy, Grace was found turned off afterwards and Luther blamed it on the guys in blue suits, but Primrose knows that it was Diego, he didn't seem to torn up about it, so she knew that he had taken part in some of it.
"I don't know." He replied, turning around to look at her. "But I'm glad, how are you dong with the whole, shrine thing?"
"Honestly feeling a bit violated." She chuckled darkly. "It feels weird, like, I thought he was nice, he was a customer at my store once and he seemed really interested in what I had to say, but now I know he was just weirdly obsessed with me." She said.
"You're okay, you're fine." He soothed, facing her dead on. They looked into each others eyes, their mouths opening and closing for a moment as they both thought for something to say, Diego finally thought of something but as he was about to talk, his mother called Primrose forward.
"Primrose, can you help me get him up to bed?" She asked sweetly, gesturing to Five.

Allison had called Vanya's violin school to try and find her, no luck. The three of them that were able to go and look for her, decided to check out Leonard's, or Harold's, grandmother's house that was further away from the city and the bright lights. It was a good place to start, if Leonard knew that they had figure it out then he would've wanted to get as far away as possible, without it looking suspicious in front of Vanya.
They walked out of the house and out of the gate, Allison was reading a file, primrose looking over her shoulder to see if they could find any more information as Diego leas the way. At one point, the two women were walking one way but Diego grabbed Prim's arm softly.
"Nope. Come on, this way." He turned them around and the strawberry-blonde looked back to see a lot of car headlights shining towards them, she nudged Allison and the woman followed also confused with the sudden change in direction.
"Wait, but the car is back that way." Allison pointed in the direction of the many cars and Primrose squinted, they were police cars, she looked back at Diego, who silenced her with one look.
"Trust me, okay? Come on." He started to walk the other way and they followed warily, glancing at each other.
"What is going on?" Allison asked, looking at her brother.
"They're here for me." He said and Primrose's eyes nearly popped out of her head. "They think I did something." The woman inhaled sharply and looked back at the cars.
"What do they think you did?" Allison asked and the sirens started whooping, red and blue lights flashing as he picked up his pace slightly, causing the two women to do the same.
"Murder." He sighed and Primrose groaned, dragging a hand over her face, frustrated.
"Did you?" Allison asked hurriedly, placing a hand on his chest that stopped him from walking slightly but they regained their pace and carried on down the road as Diego looked back at the sirens ever so often, Primrose also glancing back worriedly.
"No, no, no, of course not, okay?" He reassured, quite offended, Prim would be too if she was him. "Why would you think that about me, anyway?" He asked, looking back in front of him.
"I mean, you do carry knives with you everywhere." His sister shrugged and Prim nodded in agreement. "Plus, you dress like a murderer." The strawberry-blonde nodded and he looked at her.
"Do I?"
"A bit."
"Yeah, okay, we're gonna have to split, okay?" He was growing worried as the sirens wailed even louder, Alison looked to Primrose who seemed very against the idea of leaving him. "I'm in charge, remember? Vanya needs you." He said more to Allison, but it was pointed to Prim, too.
They stopped abruptly. "Don't do anything stupid, okay?" Allison said and patted his shoulder before walking the way back up to the car.
Diego looked at Primrose, who still stood next to him, her eyes wide with disbelief, whilst she stared at him like he was crazy. "I'm not leaving you to get arrested." She seethed, walking closer and she sighed, looking down at her.
"Don't worry about me and go find Vanya." He said, touching her upper arm slightly, glancing at the cars behind them. "Go, I'll be okay."
She looked like she was having a mental debate with herself as she stared up at him and the cogs turned inside her head, giving up, she groaned and flung her arms around his neck, letting one of his wrap around his waist as they hugged tightly. "Don't screw up." She kissed his cheek and walked after Allison, leaving him shocked as he turned to face the police cars. Allison was waiting for her, but she had a different idea.
"Go." She told her and she furrowed her eyebrows. "Go, I have a plan to get Diego back."
Allison smirked slightly but nodded, patting her shoulder too and rushing off as Primrose watched Diego. He walked towards the wailing police car with one of his knives in his hand, held high, she chewed on her fingernails anxiously as she surveyed the scene.
"Drop it," A man said and several others climbed out of their vehicles, some in uniforms and some not. "Weapon on the ground, Diego." He ordered and Diego lowered his arm, his sharp knife clattering to the graveled ground.
"I expected better from you, Chuck." He called out to the detective who got out of the car, gun pointed at the man on the ground as he raised his non-injured arm above his head.
"I got orders," Chuck replied, edging closer. "Don't make this any hard than it already is." He requested and Diego nodded in acceptance, letting another officer cuff him, taking his arm out of the sling as he brought it around his back, clicking the metal restraints closed. " Diego Hargreeves, you're under arrest on the suspicion of murder of Detective Eudora Patch."
"Rodriguez, I thought we were friends." Diego said to Rodriguez, the man who was cuffing him up.
"You killed a cop, asshole."
"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you." Chuck said, holstering his gun as Rodriguez lifted Diego up off the floor. He spat on the ground and looked back up at his old friend.
"Use that against me." He said and was taken to a police car, where he was forced into the back seat, indistinct radio chatter all around him as he looked out of the window, resting his head on it as he saw Primrose, stood against a building. He sat up and looked at her wide eyes, she wiped a tear from her cheek and gave him a thumbs up, disappearing back into the academy as Diego watched, he cursed her for being so nice as to want to get him out of jail.

After a lot of thinking and some napping, Primrose was ready to put on her best sad face and march right into that police precinct. She dressed in clothes that she wouldn't normally wear, a hoodie and some sweatpants, to really give off that 'can't be bothered' effect. She had a plan, she didn't know whether it would work or not, but she had a plan and she hoped that her acting skills were fresh, so she could get into the holding cell.
She pushed open the door, with a bouquet of flowers from her kitchen vase and walked up to the front desk. "Delivery for the third floor." She put on a bright grin and the officer at the desk nodded, buzzing her in as she took the elevator up to the third floor, but before she got in, she threw the flowers in the bin, they weren't needed in her plan.
"Morning, Chuck." She gave her best sad smile at the man that had arrested Diego, he seemed a bit cautious as he saw her.
"Are you here to report a crime?"
"No, I'm here to see someone." She said and looked around nervously before getting closer, taking something that angled out of his pocket and placing it in her hand, she glanced down and saw that it was a keychain.
"Leave them on the floor when you're finished." He mumbled, walking away as she nodded and slipped them in her pocket with a grateful smile.
Primrose made her way over to the desk nearest where she supposed that Diego was being held, if not then this guy would direct her in the right way. "Hello." She sniffled, her smile gone as soon as it came.
"Primrose?" Rodriguez looked up, she was very popular in the station, being Patch's friend as well as delivering the flowers for every occasion. "Are you okay?"
She let her eyes tear up as she stepped closer, lowering her voice to a whisper. "I need to see Diego Hargreeves."
He sighed and shook his head. "I'm sorry Primrose, but I can't let you do that, he's in holding, when he's transferred to a real prison, I'll let you know and you can go and visit him." He nodded with a smile and she burst out crying, not real tears of course, who knew she was such a good actor.
"I need to see him."
"I can't-"
"Please."
"Primro-"
"I'm pregnant." She said in a harsh whisper, leaning towards him and then she covered her face with her hands, pretending to cry as he sat there with wide eyes, staring at her in disbelief.
"With- With Diego?"
"Yes." She cried. "It was a mistake, but he needs to know, he needs to know about his baby. Have the decency to let a father know about his baby." She pleaded and he begrudgingly lead her over to another room, opening the door and allowing her in.
"Take your time." He cleared his throat awkwardly and she thanked him, sniffling again whilst wiping her tears.
The door closed and she stopped pretending to cry, turning to see Diego, at the bars of a cell looking thoroughly unimpressed. "I told you to go and find Vanya." He said as she got closer, grinning in success.
"Yeah, well if I did, you wouldn't have these." She pulled the keys out of her pocket and dangled them from her fingers, he stood up considerably straighter and a smile grew on his lips as she unlocked the cell, opening the door to let him out.
"You're amazing." He breathed through a laugh, coming out of the cell. "How'd you get the keys?"
"That was all Chuck, he gave them to me." She said, looking around for a way to get out without having to sneak past someone.
"Well, how'd you get in here? Chuck wasn't guarding me."
"I may have told Rodriguez that I was pregnant." A nervous chuckle left her lips as he raised an eyebrow, spotting a window, he walked up to it and reached up to open the window, just enough space for them to crawl through, one at a time.
"Ladies first." He winked and she walked forward, only then realizing that this may be her only chance alone with him until things got ugly, so she turned and strode back over to him, grabbing his face and pulling him down into a kiss.
He was rigid for a moment before he responded and like a gate had burst open due to pressure, feelings enveloped them both and their attractions for each other became clear, not just some comments that Five had made or little stories they made up, they liked each other, more than friends.
This was clear as the kiss kept going, until Primrose softly pulled away, looking up at him and waiting for his reaction. "Wow." He breathed slightly and she bit her lip nervously.
"I think I might like you." She whispered.
"I think I might like you too." He whispered back and she grinned, softly kissing his lips again, the spark still there, like it had been in the previous kiss, she stepped away and smiled, turning to the open window again, hiding her blush. "No, I know I do."
"Give me a boost?"
"Always."
