- Chapter Four -
"I think we're alone now."

Prim sat awkwardly on Klaus' bed in his childhood bedroom. He was currently trying to communicate with his dad, meaning that he needed 'no human presence', never being one to argue, the woman nodded and continued to explore the large house until she came across her friends childhood bedroom.

She looked around at the room and took in all the bright coloured objects that were scattered all over the floor. A picture of Klaus and Ben when they were younger sat on the bedside table, Prim picked it up and examined the photo, she had always wondered what Ben had looked like, and now she knew, well, she had an idea.

Children behave, thats what they say when we're together.

The familiar tune of 'I think we're alone now' by Tiffany echoed around the house, it seemed to be coming from the floor above but she paid no mind and bopped her head lightly to the tune.

And watch how you play, they don't understand and so we're,

The more the song played, the more she became restless, feeling the need to relieve herself with...something.

Running just as fast as we can, holding onto one another's hands.

She slowly lifted to her feet and placed the picture of Klaus and Ben back on the bedside table, slightly moving her shoulders to the song as well as continuing her head bops.

Trying to get away into the night

Her feet tapped on the floor as a newfound bounce was in her step.

Then you put your arms around me and we tumble to the ground and then you say.

She laughed softly as her body went into full dance mode and she twirled around, throwing her hands in the air, bringing them back down whilst moving her hips to the music.

I think we're alone now.

"There doesn't seem to be anyone around!" She sang, holding a fist up to her mouth and imagining a microphone as she continued to jump around the room, laughter spilling from her lips.

I think we're alone now, the beating of our hearts is the only sound.

Her strawberry blonde ponytail swished with every step she took, which were a lot as she found herself on the other side of the room in a matter of milliseconds, almost falling onto the bed but steadying herself before dancing around again.

A mini instrumental played whilst she moved her arms around in an odd way which ended up with her just flailing them around like a madman. She twirled again to face a mirror and continued to dance in front of it.

Look at the way, we gotta hide what we're doin'

She never thought that this song would bring her joy as this was the one she listened to on her and Violets drive to Armitage lab many years ago, but now she was reminiscing on that car ride, smiling as she heard her ex-fiancés voice singing softly.

Cause what would they say, if they ever knew and so we're running just a fast as we can.

She found herself singing along with the voice in her head, looking in the mirror and smiling at herself, at who she turned out to be, they say death changes a person, but Prim had bounced right back up again with the help of Klaus.

Holding onto one another's hand, trying to get away into the night, you put your arms around me and we tumble to the ground and then you say.

She continued to dance, feeling like there was someone dancing with her, but when she opened her eyes, there was no one there. It was quite often that she would get this feeling.

I think we're alone now

The microphone which was actually her hand, returned as she gripped the side of the mirror and sang to herself, a wide grin adorning her features, making her look even more attractive than she already did.

There doesn't seem to be anyone around, I think we're alone now, the beating of our hearts is the only sound.

I think we're alone now, there doesn't seem to be anyone around, I think we're alone now, the beating of our hearts is the only sound.

Prim abruptly stopped dancing and literally tumbled down to the ground, landing on her butt when the music stopped and flashes of blue cane through the windows. She rushed out of the room and down stairs, seeing Diego come out of the living room as she got to the bottom, where Vanya stood.

"What's going on?" She asked them, feeling like they would know the answer because it was their house.

"I don't know." Diego muttered before rushing outside whilst Vanya shrugged her shoulders, following her brother. The woman followed them both.

Luther came out after her, followed by Allison. Something big, bright and blue hovered several feet above the ground, it crackled like electricity and roared like thunder.

"What is it?" Vanya shouted over the noise, speaking to the rest of the group. Prim shrugged and squinted, trying to make out the scenery of what was inside the little vortex thingy.

"Don't get too close!" Allison warned, putting a hand in Luthers when he stepped forward, wanting to protect his family from whatever the hell came through the massive whole in the sky.

"Yeah, no shit!" Diego called back, also edging towards the front, keeping a hand out to protect his siblings, plus Primrose.

"Looks like some sort of temporal anomaly." Luther guessed. "Either that or a miniature black hole. One of the two."

"One of the two." Prim repeated in a mutter.

"Pretty big difference there Paul Bunyan!" Diego scoffs, trying to hold his family back but failing when Luther pushed in front of him, both men trying to be in the lead.

"Out of the way!" Came the yell of Klaus who nudged his friend out of the way and pushed past his brothers, throwing a fire extinguisher at the blue light.

"What is that gonna do?!" Allison shouted.

"I don't know, you have a better idea?" He retorted, shrugging in defeat whilst standing very very close to it.

"At least you tried!" Prim called out to him, smiling whilst Luther rolled his eyes and Klaus nodded his head before being pulled back when the big thing in the sky cracked again.

"Woah, woah, woah, everybody get behind me." Luther commanded, pushing his brother at Primrose who caught him and made sure he was okay.

"Yeah! Get behind us!" Diego shouted.

"How about both of you get behind me?" Prim lightly shoved them aside, creating a vibrant purple glow in her hands and making a forcefield that covered all of the other siblings too. Everybody except for Klaus and Diego let out a small 'woah', although the man in black was still in awe.

An old man started to appear in the middle of the hole, looking like he was screaming or trying to push his way through, whatever he was doing made the light crackle and roar more than usual.

"I vote for running! Come on!" Klaus yelled, Prim would've agreed with him and ran if she wasn't the one protecting them all. When no one ran, he sighed in defeat and made sure to stay close to the purple light that contrasted against the blue one.

The blue light faded away and a body dropped from the sky, onto the ground that was littered with leaves and dirt. Keeping the forcefield up, Primrose edged closer to the body, the Hargreeves siblings following suit.

"Be careful." Diego warned as they walked even closer, however he bumped into the back of her when she stopped. Muttering an apology, he stepped back with his hands raised in surrender.

The body began to stir and gained enough energy to push himself off of the dirty ground, it looked to be a young boy in a suit that was far too big for him, he brushed himself off and looked up, squinting at all of the adults.

Primrose recognized him as the little boy from the portrait above the fireplace, knowing that he was one of the siblings, the purple glow faded away and she lowered her hands, staring at the small boy.

"Does anybody else see little number five or is that just me?" Klaus asked, coming up behind Diego to get a better look.

The boy now known as 'Five' looked down at himself and back up at his siblings, plus Primrose. "Shit." He sighed.

Five placed a chopping board and a knife down on the kitchen table, which is immediately where he went after he had made his grand entrance. He grabbed two slices of bread and some peanut butter, bringing them back to the table. The six adults were all stood or sat opposite him.

Klaus had placed himself on the table, playing with Prim's bracelet that he stole from her just moments ago. Allison stood on his right side, whereas Diego stood on his left, next to Primrose. Luther sat in a chair in front of Diego and Vanya sat in one in front of her Allison.

"What's the date?" Five asked them, seemingly irritated. "The exact date." He elaborated, looking down at the chopping board.

"The 24th." Vanya answered. The young boy glanced up at her before speaking again. "Of what?"

"March."

"Good." He sighed, spreading the peanut butter on one slice of bread. Now that she saw the boy making food, Prim was actually quite hungry herself.

She raised her hand sheepishly and Five looked at her, gesturing for her to say something. "Is that crunchy or smooth peanut butter?" She asked, making him furrow his eyebrows but his eyes had a glint of amusement nonetheless.

"Crunchy." He answered.

"Nevermind." She dismissed it, if it was smooth peanut butter then she would've asked him to make her one or even make one herself if he refused to.

Five smirked, looking in between his brother in black and the woman he had only seen in the apocalyptic future. "Are you Diego's girlfriend?" He asked.

"No." The two of them answered almost immediately, awkwardly looking at each other. Five muttered something under his breath that was inaudible to the rest of them.

"I'm Primrose Armitage." She smiled widely, walking around the table to stick out her hand for him to shake. He smiled lightly back at her and took her hand, shaking it before letting go.

"She's as sweet as sugarcane." Klaus sighed.

"Why do you keep saying that?" She asked him, chuckling softly whilst she returned to her usual space, beside Diego and behind Klaus.

"Because it's true and I like introducing you this way." He told her, sliding her bracelet back onto her wrist, smiling goofily.

"So, are we gonna talk about what just happened?" Luther asked the small boy, wanting answers as to why his missing brother had just appeared in the sky.

"It's been seventeen years." The tall man stood from his seat, looking down at Five, who stepped closer to him and glared. "It's been a lot longer than that." He seethed before disappearing in a cloud of electric blue light and appearing again in front of the fridge, grabbing some marshmallows and blinking back in front of the chopping board.

"Haven't missed that." Luther muttered.

"Where'd you go?" Diego asks him, crossing his arms in front of his chest.

"The future. It's shit by the way." He told them, placing the sweet fluffy pieces of candy onto his sandwich. Klaus raised a hand and said "called it!" Whilst Prim frowned.

"I should've listened to the old man, jumping through space is one thing, jumping through time is a toss of the dice." He continued to perfect his sandwich, pausing to look up at his brother sat on the table. "Nice dress."

"Oh well, danke." Klaus played with the tassels, twirling them around as he laughed softly, bringing the smile back to his friends face.

"Wait, how did you get back?" Vanya asked him, furrowing her eyebrows as she waited for his answer.

"In the end, I had to project my consciousness into a suspended quantum version state version of myself that exists across every possible instance of time." He explains, leaving his siblings stumped, Prim understood bits of it since her parents were scientists but she couldn't seem to add it all together, after all, she works in a flower shop.

"That makes no sense." Diego told him.

"Well it would if you were smarter." Five jabbed, smiling sarcastically. The man jumped up, probably ready to stab his brother but Luther placed a hand on his chest, stopping him from actually attacking him.

"How long were you there?" Luther asked him, shoving Diego back to his place, meaning he stumbled into Primrose for the second time that day, it was damaging his ego. He muttered an apology as she smiled brightly, waving it off and telling him that it was no problem.

"45 years, give or take." He answered, making Luther slump down into his seat.

"So what are you saying? You're 58?" He asked again, not believing him one bit, because he looked like a thirteen year old boy again.

"No, my consciousness is 58." Five seethed, getting annoyed. "Apparently my body is now 13 again."

"Wait how does that even work?" Vanya questioned, trying to process what he had told his siblings, plus Primrose. Five took a bite of his sandwich and turned around, his back now facing the adults.

"Delores kept saying the equations were off." He said to himself. "Bet she's laughing now."

"Aww, who's Delores?" Prim cooed, leaning on the table, stabilizing herself with her hands as she smiled at the boy, wanting to know all about his girlfriend. Five glanced back at her and smiled lightly, amused at her innocent aura.

However, he didn't answer her question and grabbed a newspaper that was sat on the table. "Guess I missed the funeral." He sounded disinterested.

"How'd you know about that?"

"What part of the future do you not understand?" Five spat harshly, definitely annoyed at his siblings stupidity meanwhile Primrose took a much nicer approach.

"He went to the future." She smiled softly, whilst Five made his remark, realizing they said their answers in unison, Prim's eyes sparkled with amusement, she gets excited by the tiniest things.

"Heart failure, huh?" The boy continued to read the newspaper.

"No." Luther said at the same time Diego answered "yes."

"Luther, the coroners are very good at their jobs. Feel free to tell us the answer once you've got your degree." Despite her passive aggressive comment, her face still held a smile. The five other adults and the small boy in the suit looked at her in surprise, only ever knowing her to be nice.

Diego smirked and mumbled 'sweet as sugarcane' under his breath.

"Nice to see nothing's changed." Five walked away, bringing his sandwich with him.

"That's it? That's all you have to say?" Allison asked him as he walked past her, heading towards the rectangular archway.

"What else is there to say? It's the circle of life." He responds, leaving Prim with the lion king song stuck in her head and she hummed the tune, fiddling with the jewelry that hung around her neck.

Vanya, Allison, Diego and Klaus watched her with similar amused expressions as they nodded their heads to the tune, about to begin humming the chorus until Luther stopped them with his talking.

"Well...that was interesting."

The other five adults stopped their little performance and nodded in agreement, Prim continuing to sing the lyrics in her head.
