Chapter 7
Jungkook was extremely happy as he saw the fairy bring in two more. He wasn't someone who believed in fairytales or magical creatures. However, how could he not believe it when he saw them with his eyes every day?
Fairies were a thing from story books. He still remembered the vividly colored pictures from his childhood. So he was enamored with them. He wanted to know more about them. Every tiny detail he learned about them was endearing.
The two new additions were as curious as his little monkey. He wished he knew their names. Did they have a name? Oh, what wouldn't he do to be friends with them.
Watching the camera feed got even more fun after the new arrival. They were very cautious, yet too curious for their own good. One day, Jungkook was greeted with a fairy's face peeping into the camera lens; the other, he got one stuck inside his fridge before his little monkey freed him.
But with increased numbers also came some trouble. While his little monkey was a careful bean, his other friend, who loved to wear little flower crowns, wasn't. This, too, had pink eyes like his little monkey. However, the other one had green eyes and was more stoic.
The flower fairy often knocked out the things in the kitchen mostly, but his little monkey would scold him and put them back in place. Finally, they all made their beds using his scarves, and Jungkook only grinned, watching them with an endeared expression.
The work in the house was over soon, and it was the greenhouse that was taking longer than expected. However, he was sure he would be able to end it before the first snow. He managed to move almost all the plants inside and arrange them. As soon as the ordered materials came, he would be able to finish it.
His happiness multiplied when his hyungs called him to inform that they were spending the Christmas with him this year. Jungkook bought additional mattress and blankets to host them. He wouldn't be able to use the attic, since the fairies occupied it. So they would have to use the living room and his bedroom.
They would be spending at least three weeks at his home, so he made sure to buy extra groceries and drinks from the city. Jungkook was almost done with his project and he didn't have to go to work as often as before. So he used his free time to work on the greenhouse.
The materials he ordered came exactly on the day Namjoon was set to arrive. The other two would arrive two days later. Jungkook set to work early, losing himself in the work. He worked for hours in the end, focusing on shaping every inch of the greenhouse to fit his vision.
It was in the evening when Namjoon's call came Jungkook realized he was working almost all day.
"I'm here." Namjoon grinned happily on screen.
"Shit, hyung. It totally slipped my mind." Jungkook ran a hand over his mouth. "Just gimme thirty minutes, I'll be there to pick you up."
"Ah, it's okay, Jungkook-ah. I know how you get when you start working. I can take a taxi from here."
"No, no, I'll come." Jungkook hurried outside. "Just give me—"
His leg slipped, and the next thing he knew, he fell backward, hitting his head on something. Pain shot through his skull, and his vision blurred. Jungkook lay there for a moment. Realization of what happened dawned in his mind.
"Jungkook!"
"Jungkook!"
Shit. It hurt like hell.
His eyes watered. He slowly patted the ground to reach for his phone.
"Jungkook!"
He found it on his fourth try. "H-Hyung," he whispered.
"Oh, God, Jungkook! You fell. Are you okay?"
Jungkook blinked his eyes, trying to clear his vision. Finally, he brought the phone screen to his face. "Y-Yeah. I-I'm fine."
On the screen, Namjoon's eyes widened. "Fuck! You're bleeding."
Jungkook frowned. "I am?" Then he noticed the patch of red pooling underneath his head. "Oh, God!" That explained the wave of dizziness. His vision zoomed in and out of focus.
"Jungkook-ah, don't move. I'm coming. Fuck!" Jungkook's hand slowly fell limb to his side. "Ambulance. Give me the number for the ambulance." Namjoon's voice filled his ears as he fought the dizziness. "My friend is injured. Please, someone, call the ambulance."
Jungkook's vision began to fade. A buzz was all he heard, and a burst of vibrant pink darted into his vision before it went blank.

Mimi was returning from the forest with his friends when he saw the human bustling around the greenhouse. He steered carefully away from the human and headed to the kitchen. TaeTae chirped cheerfully about their day in the woods while Yoongles lazily munched on an orange.
They were chatting idly when they heard a heavy thud. They scattered around, ready to bolt. But settled when they didn't hear anything else. It was already dark outside and looked like it would snow anytime. Maybe the clumsy human dropped something.
But the sound was too loud. What was he even carrying? Mimi waited for a few more minutes before he decided to check out purely because of his curiosity. However, his heart almost stopped when he saw the scene in front of him.
"Yoongles!" he screeched at the top of his lungs and rushed to Koo.
The human was injured and bleeding. There was just too much blood. An alarm shot through his system. Koo was in danger. Mimi didn't think twice before taking his Fae form.
Yoongles and TaeTae burst into the backyard, their eyes widening in alarm.
"Take him inside. We will bring the herbs," Yoongles said and then they were off.
He lifted Kook with little to no effort. Thanks to his Fae strength. He was stronger and agile in this form. Mimi carried him inside the home and lay him on the floor. He turned him slowly to access his injury.
Shit. How did he even manage this? He is losing too much blood.
Clumsy human.
Mimi didn't know how the human healing worked. He just knew the healing process was slow compared to their species and Koo was bleeding at an alarming rate. He has to stop the bleeding first.
He summoned his Fae magic, applying enough pressure. Slowly, the blood stopped seeping out. Mimi blew out a breath and focused on clotting the blood. That should work until Yoongles and TaeTae came back with the herbs. With the Winter almost here, Mimi didn't know if they would even find it on time. Besides, he knew the woods better than them.
"Oh, Goddess," he whispered. He couldn't leave the human unattended. His magic was the only thing that stopped the human from bleeding out on the ground. Tiny pixies weren't capable of such magic. So leaving was never an option. Sending them was the only feasible option. "Please find the herbs," he prayed.
However, the time seemed to pass with no pixies in sight. Mimi began to pace the living room. Tension coiled around his shoulders. Did they find the herbs?
Mimi was waiting for the two pixies to come with the herbs when he heard the front door open.
"Jungkook!" A tall human with broad shoulders and bulging muscles burst through the door almost ripping it off the hinges.
The Fae saw red.
Threat!
Protect Koo.
The next thing he knew, he pinned the human to the wall, hissing dangerously. "Who are you?" he roared. "Speak before I kill you."
"Oh, fuck!" The human's eyes went wide with fear before his gaze slid over his shoulders to land on Koo. "Jungkook, oh, my God!"
He tried to move only to be pinned to the wall by a very furious Fae. He lifted his sharpened claws, flashing his jagged fangs that could rip through anything. "Tha'ts my Koo!" he growled again. "I protect Koo. Who. Are. You?"
"Please..." the man pleaded. "Jungkook is hurt. Let me help him. I called the ambulance but they were taking so much time. I can help him. He's bleeding out. I need to stop the bleeding. Apply pressure to his wound," he rambled. "Please...let me help him. He needs me."
Mimi regarded him for a long moment. "You know Koo?" he asked.
"Jungkook." The man nodded. "I'm his friend. Namjoon. I'm Kim Namjoon. We talk on the phone all the time."
Mimi wondered if that was supposed to make sense, but that name made sense. The name was ridiculously long. "Joon," he said. He narrowed his eyes. "How many friends does Koo has?"
"Yes, yes, you can call me, Joon. Jungkook has three friends. Me, Seokjin hyung and Hoseok. Now please let me help him."
Mimi released him. He knew Koo had three friends. So this guy must be speaking the truth. Besides, he could feel the human's panic. It seemed genuined. "I stopped the bleeding," he said. "I can't heal him without the herbs. Do you have healing herbs?"
Joon blinked. "Ah, first aid kit? Um...it should be in the bathroom. Let me grab it."
He paused for a moment before hurrying inside. Mimi watched cautiously, unsure if he could yet trust this human friend of Koo. If he hurt Koo, then Mimi would hurt him badly. So no one will harm Koo on his watch.
He was fuming when Namjoon came back with something in his hand. "What's that?"
"It's human medicine," Joon replied. "We apply this to treat our wounds."
Mimi eyed him warily. "I don't know how to use that."
"Oh, I—"
At the same time, he heard a loud siren outside and jumped. With a hiss, Mimi rushed to Koo, covering his body with his and flashed his fangs again.
"It's the ambulance," Joon said. "They must be here. I called them to help Jungkook."
"No one touches Koo," Mimi hissed again.
Joon swallowed, lifting both his hands in the air. "Please. It's the only way. I don't know how it works for you, but I think he needs stitches. He needs a doctor."
"He will bleed out if I stop using my magic."
They stared at each other for a long moment. Then, a paramedic called from the outside. "Hello, sir. We received a call. Is Mr. Jeon Jungkook in here?"
"Are you Jungkook's little monkey?" Joon asked, getting his attention.
Mimi's eyes widened. He looked taken back. I'm not a monkey. He wanted to yell. When he eyed Kook lying unconscious on the floor, he deflated. "Yeah," he whispered.
"I saw you," Joon said. "I was on a call with Jungkook when he fell. I saw you and your friends flying to him. You helped him."
Mimi nodded. He didn't know how the human knew that. Maybe it was the weird device Koo used every day.
"Mr. Jeon, are you in there?" the paramedics called again.
"You can go with him. No one will see you," Joon suggested. "Please allow them to come inside. He needs help."
"Okay," Mimi agreed half-heartedly. As long as he could be with Koo, he could protect him. No humans were strong enough to fight a Fae. The next moment, Mimi shifted into his pixie form, hiding away from the human eyes.
"In here!" Joon yelled over his shoulder.
Joon let the other human inside the home. They quickly helped Koo and loaded him into their metal thing that moved. Mimi stuck to Joon's side when he realized he would go with Koo. Joon silently put Mimi in his shirt pocket.
Before the doors closed, Mimi saw Yoongles and TaeTae return with the herbs. When they saw him, they dropped the herbs and followed. Mimi nodded once, giving them assurance. But he saw the telltale sign of their wings glinting even in the dark through the windows.
The metal box was loud and shaky, but Mimi gritted his teeth. Koo's friend said this was the only way to help him. So he would be silent.
In the coming hours, he didn't know how much time had passed; Mimi watched with cautious eyes as they patched Koo. Several humans surrounded Koo, and it made Mimi anxious, but Koo's friend seemed fine, so he just hid in a corner and watched.
After what felt like an eternity, they finally moved Koo into another room.
"He's fine now," he heard them talking to Koo's friend. "You stopped the bleeding on time. There was no severe damage. You can take him home as soon as he wakes up. He needs to rest for a few days. We can send a nurse to change his dressing every day."
Mimi flew to the bed, sitting on Koo's chest. With wide eyes, he watched him like a hawk. He didn't release his hold on his magic. It was tiring but he didn't want Koo to bleed. He didn't know how good these humans were at healing. So he would watch him carefully.
Sleep, Koo. Mimi will protect you while you're here. Mimi won't let anyone hurt you.
