13. From Best Friends To Worst Enemies

Shockingly, by the time Ashanti had gone home after the party, Kehlani was already there.
In case forgotten, he was spending some time round her house because his parents had gone on holiday somewhere, but Kehlani didn't want to go on holiday due to 9/11.
He was scared that he would have died in a plane crash, or had gotten seriously injured and that thought had just honestly haunted the guy for life. He didn't want that.
He had feared modes of transports now, all of them.. especially the flying ones.
Kehlani had left the party an hour before it had finished but Ashanti had left the party half an hour before it had finished instead.
They would have gone home together but they weren't exactly talking right now, and Ashanti was tempted to start reading the book that Rihanna had given her on the way there but she didn't.
When Ashanti had eventually gone home once and for all, she had caught Kehlani staring really suspiciously at her.
His phone was fully charged now so he was using it to play Clash of Clans, aka one of the longest ever games in the world, on his phone, and he was sitting on the dining room table as well.
Ashanti had purposely avoided all types of eye contact with him, but despite this, this hadn't really lasted for a very long time because Kehlani had gotten really suspicious, especially when she had hidden the book in her bag.
"What's that in your bag, Ashanti?"
"None of your business, Kehlani," Ashanti deadpanned, trying to make a run for it up the stairs, which had backfired because Kehlani had stopped her halfway again.
He had tried opening her bag when she was looking, with Ashanti stopping him from doing this when she had realised this.
Until Kehlani screamed.
"She gave you a book?"
"She also gave me her phone numberrr!" Ashanti cheered, dancing around on the stairs, flashing the piece of paper with Rihanna's phone number on it at Kehlani's face, only for him to stare at her & it in absolute annoyance.
Hopefully it was her real phone number too, but just a fake one.
But then again?
Would Rihanna really have given Ashanti her phone number that easily?
She would have probably had to "work for it", knowing her.
It was probably someone else's phone number from the group that Rihanna had lied about, saying that it was her phone number instead, to completely get Ashanti's hopes up or something.
Kehlani couldn't stop convincing Ashanti that everything was a bad idea and she was landing herself into a lot of trouble.
Ashanti didn't want to hear it though, well, she had listened to Kehlani but she hadn't seemed to be getting the message.
"Ashanti, I'm telling you. Rihanna's part of a gang. Sugar & Spice. You've honestly got to believe me."
"I never said I don't believe you, Kehlani," she corrected him, jumping off the stairs, washing an apple and then eating it, Kehlani's eyes fixated on her the whole time.
She had then sat right next to him on top of the dining room table, with Kehlani looking really distressed about the whole situation.
He had felt a little bit better when Ashanti had put her arm around him but he had to keep those feelings to himself because he didn't want Ashanti to know yet that he had feelings for her romantically.
"But you're acting like all gangs are bad, Kehlani! Not all of them are bad!"
"Oh yeah?" Kehlani frowned, looking at her from the corner of his eye. "Give me an example of a good gang."
"NWA from Straight Outta Compton."
He had then face palmed himself before saying anything else.
"They're not a gang, Ashanti, they're a hip hop group. Well, they were a hip hop group until Eazy E died. But my point is... Sugar & Spice is not a hip hop group. They're a gang. And I don't want yourself getting into any trouble, Ashanti. Besides from Kishati, you're the only friend I have."
Apparently there was a gang downtown that Ashanti had forgotten the name of completely but they had helped people in need and all that.
And even if Kehlani didn't want her to join Sugar & Spice, it was too late for her to do so anyway as she had already asked Rihanna if she could have joined the group.
Ashanti was then about to head upstairs but she didn't, because Kehlani had told her that her parents had known that both of them had snuck off to go to the party...
And they weren't very happy about it either.
Ashanti was absolutely obsessed with the book that Rihanna had given her though.
In fact, she was so obsessed over it that when her mother (Khadijah) and her father (Romario) were disciplining her and Kehlani harshly for sneaking out to go to the party...
Ashanti just wasn't really paying attention or listening.
Her parents were quite strict, to be honest, especially when she had done something stupid.
It was probably because she was an only child and they didn't want to spoil her, as doing that inevitably wouldn't have been good for the future and everything.
Plus Ashanti's family was highly religious, and all of this was a Bible quote anyway:
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (KJV)
Her parents had stuck really hard to that rule.
"Just what the heck were you thinking, Ashanti & Kehlani?! Sneaking off to go to a party like that? You could have gotten yourself killed out there- is that what you wanted?"
"I didn't even want to go, Aunty Khadijah, but Ashanti forced me to! You've got to believe me! I'm completely innocent!"
Seriously?
You were really the victim card here?
Seriously, Kehlani?!
Not cool, man. At all.
Maybe if your Sweet 16th birthday party wasn't so trash, then Ashanti might not have had to go to this party at all, as she would have actually been to one before!
Sweet 16th?
Heck screw that.
It was a suckish 16th more like, that was what it was.
Plus who the heck played scrabble at a birthday party? And had a vegetable cake? Disgusting.
Ashanti wasn't really paying attention when her parents were condemning her, as she was way too busy reading the book that Rihanna had given her to focus on what was going on around her.
Realising this, her father Romario had then snatched the book off of her, Ashanti asking what the heck that was for, as she hadn't really found it 100% necessary for her father to just snatch her book away from her like that without her consent.
Khadijah was a very pretty woman, and she had long lustrous waist length wavy black hair with freckles everywhere.
Romario in the meantime had a moustache and his hair was turning grey. They had been married for 20 years now, so making Khadijah 57 and making Romario 58 instead.
Khadijah had given birth to Ashanti late, man. She had given birth to her when she was forty.
Romario wanted to know where the heck the book was from, with Ashanti not telling him anything because she knew what he was like.
Unfortunately though, Kehlani had accidentally on purpose snitched on her, explaining everything, about how she wanted to join and gang and how she had nearly gotten killed on a mechanical bull as well.
Inevitably, her parents were very furious when they had heard these news, grounding Ashanti for a month and grounding Kehlani for the same amount.
And when his parents had come to pick him up tomorrow, his punishment had continued. Khadijah and Romario would have told everything to his parents, and Kehlani would have gotten in trouble serious too.
Ashanti was beyond furious when she had stormed up to her room after everything was over (took ten and a half minutes) and so was Kehlani as well. Her book was confiscated from her, but hey.
She wasn't complaining.
She still had her phone.
Kehlani and Ashanti were now really mad at each other, shouting at each other at the top of the stairs and everything.
They had never been this pissed at each other before.
"What the hell, Kehlani, why did you just snitch on me like that?!"
"'Cause you deserved it!"
They had given each other some serious dirty looks.
And there was silence for a while, then...
"I hate you!" Ashanti bickered.
"Hate you more!"
"Hope you die."
"Hope you die too."
Now, now, children, now was seriously not wish death threats against each other...
Y'all were 17, not 5. Act that way.
But it was too late.
Ashanti & Kehlani couldn't & wouldn't have stopped arguing with each other, before saying that their friendship was over, and slamming their door shut.
They seriously weren't talking to each other now.
For they had just become the very worst of enemies.
Probably for the rest of their flipping lives too.
Because they had absolutely hated each other for good now.
