13. The Truth Comes Out

Sundays are usually the worst day of the week.

Today isn't any different, considering Tyler has woken up with a headache and a sore stomach. He's hungry, dehydrated, and miserable.

"Josh," he whines, tapping the sleeping man's cheek. "My head hurts."

Josh groans, swatting Tyler's hand away. "There's pain killers on the table. Let me sleep."

Slowly, the brunette rolls onto his other side and reaches for the table. He downs the pills, chugging the rest of the water and wiping his mouth when he's finished.

Tyler sets the glass back down, turning back to Josh with a pout. "I'm not tired, get up."

"Leave me alone," the older mumbles, using Tyler's pillow to cover his ears.

"Rude."

The brunette slides out of bed, squeaking as cold air hits his skin and gives him goosebumps. With a small smirk, he rips the blanket off Josh and wraps it around himself.

"God dammit," Josh mutters, bringing his knees into his chest. "Give me that back. Or turn the A.C. off."

"Nope," Tyler grins, walking into the closet and bringing the blanket with him.

He picks a simple outfit, a white hoodie and black leggings, considering he doesn't plan on going anywhere and it's freezing inside. After slipping on mismatch socks, Tyler re-enters the bedroom.

Josh is laying the same way he left him, shivering despite having fallen asleep again. The brunette feels bad so he gently lays the blanket on top of Josh, tucking him in and kissing the top of his head.

There's a knock on the bedroom door.

Instead of telling Debby to come in, Tyler opens the door quietly so he won't wake Josh. "What's up?"

"Somebody is here for Mr. Dun," she whispers, looking between the two with worry.

The brunette frowns, looking over his shoulder at the sleeping man. "I'll go talk to them."

"I don't know if that's a good-"

"It'll be fine," Tyler chuckles, shutting the door behind him before Debby can protest.

"Okay... I'll be in the kitchen preparing breakfast if you need anything," Debby says, chewing on her lip, then scurries off.

That was kind of weird.

Tyler takes his time walking down the two flights of stairs, careful to not let himself slip on the shiny wooden steps. There's a dull pounding behind his eyes, but it's more aggravating than painful.

As the brunette comes to a stop at the bottom of the staircase, he blinks a few times.

Ashley? That girl from the party? Wearing a skimpy little see-through dress?

"What are you doing in my house?" Tyler scoffs, arms crossing over his chest. Josh isn't around so he plans to be as rude as possible.

Ashley's narrowed eyes scan over his body, following suit and crossing her arms. "Where's Josh?"

"He's asleep in our bed. I fucked him real good last night," Tyler grins, biting his tongue to keep from laughing.

The blonde rolls her eyes, taking a few steps towards Tyler as her ridiculously long heels click annoyingly.

"I want to see him."

"What for?" Tyler challenges, raising an eyebrow.

Ashley hesitates, not breaking her stare. "He asked me to come over. I didn't know you'd be here."

The brunette falters, dropping the badass act as his face draws into a frown. Josh wouldn't do that, would he? Is this what they were discussing when Ashley pulled him aside at the party?

"Ashley? What are you doing here?" A certain voice says from behind Tyler, the boy whirrling around to find Josh behind him, clad in nothing but his boxers.

"Josh!" She smiles. "Thank god you came down here. Tyler was being so rude to me. You didn't tell me he'd be here?"

"What the fuck are you talking about?" Josh mumbles, eyebrows drawn together in confusion.

"You invited me over, don't you remember?"

The man looks down at Tyler, concern evident in his eyes as he sees the boy tearing up. He glances back up at Ashley, grabbing her wrist and pulling her into a different room.

The brunette blinks a few times, heart heavy as he quietly trails behind. What is Josh planning to do with her? Why would he do that? Especially after what Jenna told him...

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" He heard Josh whisper harshly.

A little laugh followed by, "I missed you."

"I want you out of my house. I don't want to see you," Josh snarls, all while Tyler listens from behind a closed door.

"Oh come on, baby. I know he doesn't put out for you as much as I do-"

"Used to."

"Still can if you'd let me. We don't even have to tell-"

"What the hell do I look like to you? A cheater?" Josh raises his voice slightly, making Tyler's heart pound.

"You are one, aren't you?" Ashley snickers. "I mean, you cheated on Jon for me. What's stopping you from doing the same to Tyler?"

"I was fucking drunk okay? I-" Josh is almost on the verge of yelling before he gets cut off.

"Is that why you still fucked me after he broke up with you? Is that why I was here every weekend letting you do whatever the hell you wanted to me?" Ashley gets louder, ignoring when Josh tries to tell her to quiet down. "No! I won't quiet down! Does Tyler know how many times you made me cum on that bed you guys sleep in? Does he know that-"

"Shut the fuck up!" Josh snaps, suddenly, making Tyler jump.

The poor brunette doesn't know what to think. All he knows is that he can't get himself to stop crying, his heart won't stop hurting, and he wants Ashley to leave and never come back.

"You don't know shit, okay? I'm not a fucking cheater. I get we had sex or whatever but I'm in a relationship with Tyler and I fucking love him. You need to move on and you need to get out of my house. Out of our house."

Tyler takes off running, not wanting to hear anymore. His feet noislessly collide with the ground as he heads upstairs and locks himself in the bedroom. He looks at the bed, wondering what Josh did to Ashley in that exact spot.

Does he have feelings for her? Does Tyler not put out enough? Josh says he loves Tyler, why would he ever do anything to hurt him? Surely Josh loved that Jon guy too, and he still cheated on him. And with Ashley, too, for God's sake.

Furiously wiping his eyes, Tyler forces himself to sit on the edge of the bed. Josh is allowed to have had other relationships before him, of course, but for some reason this just feels different. This hurts, really bad.

He must be sitting there for a good five minutes before there's a soft knock on the door.

"Tyler? Honey? Can I come in?"

The brunette sighs, hearing that caring, gentle voice that makes tears swell in his eyes yet again. He unlocks the door and opens it a crack, standing dumbfounded as Josh opens the door.

"I'm so sorry about that. Are you okay? What're you thinking? Talk to me," the older says, his fingers lacing with Tyler's as their eyes meet.

"What happened between you two?" Tyler frowns, voice barely above that of a whisper. He looks down, blinking to keep his tears at bay.

Josh sighs and guides the boy to sit on the bed with him, sitting with their thighs touching and hands entwined.

"You've probably figured it out by now, but I used to be an alocholic. I'm talking big time. Like, drunk by two pm. Every day," he pauses, tongue gliding over his lips.

"Well, I was dating this guy named Jon. I don't know why the hell he wanted to be with me when I was drunk all of the time, but he did. He loved me, and I loved him too. One day we just got in a really big fight because he wouldn't let me have a drink so I left and got completely hammered."

He sighs, rubbing his thumbs over the backs of Tyler's hands.

"And one of my employees, Ashley, was at the bar. She was shitfaced and so was I and it just happened. I honestly don't even remember it I was so drunk. But she went and told Jon and he dumped me, which I deserved. I drank so much that night I ended up in the hospital."

A small gasp erupts from the brunette, but Josh gives him a small smile.

"It's okay, I'm fine now. But Ashley was the one that called the ambulance and she was in the hospital with me the whole time and she was with me during the whole detox process and I guess I felt like I owed her somehow so I continued to have sex with her."

Josh sighs, again, letting go of Tyler's hand so he can cup his face instead. He forces their eyes to meet.

"I don't have feelings for her. I never had feelings for her. It was a shitty thing for me to do, I know. I was a shitty person, but that's not me anymore. I'm a better person."

"Is that why you wanted to help Brendon?" Tyler asks softly, pretty brown eyes fluttering. Josh nods, he smiles.

"I'm sorry I got jealous. You are a good person. I should've trusted you but I knew you were hiding stuff from me-"

"I understand," Josh interrupts. "I'm not mad at you. I love you, okay? I'm yours and you're mine."

"Okay," Tyler agrees, lips curled into a smile. "I love you, too."

"Now, let's go eat breakfast before it gets cold."

Josh stands, pulling the boy with him. He smushes their lips together in a rough kiss, lingering for a moment before pulling away.

"I had to do that."
