Chapter 2: The Journey and the Destination
I looked around my apartment. I have all of my bags packed, enough to last me for a few weeks, and whatever I don't have I'll just buy when I get to Seoul. Namjoon had to fly back last week for work, and Melody and I are leaving for Seoul today.
It's been 2 weeks since Namjoon and Melody discovered they are soulmates. Ever since, they've been texting nonstop and seem to be getting along very well. I'm happy for them, honestly. They've both been waiting years to meet their soulmates, and I've always thought they were kind of similar. I guess that makes me the last one out of the Bookstore staff that doesn't have a soulmate yet.
Teddy and James offered to run the store while we're away, which is going to be for about 4 weeks. I'm going to miss home, but I'm excited to go back to Seoul. I haven't visited since I was like 5. I also haven't seen my aunt in years. My parents live in Traverse City, they retired there about 3 or 4 years ago, and they don't visit my aunt very often.
I take one last look around the apartment, grab my bags, shut the door behind me, and walk downstairs to meet Melody at the door.
After getting through security at the airport, we're finally on the plane. Sitting here now, I feel a little more relaxed. It's not like anything insane is happening. I'm just going to visit some family, and introduce my best friend to her future in-laws. Nothing to worry about.
15 hours later...
Finally, I have never been so happy to see the ground in my life. I stand up, and head towards baggage claim. After grabbing our bags, we get in the taxi that's going to take us to Namjoon's work. Funny thing is, I don't even know what he does for a living. He only found out what I did for a living because I posted a pic of the bookstore on my instagram a few years back. I'm going to guess he's an accountant or something, since he's always been so good at academics. Or maybe a teacher.
"I'm so nervous. What if his friends and family don't like me? I can speak Korean alright from what you taught me, but what if I screw up? What if..." Melody started ranting at me in the car.
"Mels, calm down. I've never met his friends either, hell I don't even know their names, but if Joon is hanging out with them, I trust them. He has good judgment. And don't worry, you're better at Korean than I am sometimes, and I spoke it growing up with my parents. You are going to be absolutely fine." We both share a smile, knowing everything is going to turn out alright in the end.
After a bit of driving, we pull up to Namjoon's work building. Wow this place is massive. It's a large skyscraper type of building, and the front has the words "Big Hit Entertainment" on it. Entertainment? He works at an entertainment company? Maybe he's a writer or producer. He's always loved writing music. We get out of the car, and we start towards the door.
As we approach the front desk, the lady there looked up and smiled.
Hello there, how can I help you two?"
"Hello, we're here to see my cousin. He works here. His name is Kim Namjoon. Could you tell me where I could find him?" The lady looked taken aback for a moment, but then her smile returned.
Of course, if I may see some ID from both of you." We both hand over our drivers licenses, and she looks them over and picks up the phone. "Hello, Mr. Kim? Your cousin and another girl are here for you? I hope I'm not interrupting. Thank you, sir. Goodbye" She hung up and looked back at us. "He's on his way down. Please, have a seat."
As I sat down, I thought back to what I overheard her say on the phone. Sir? What job did my cousin have exactly? My thoughts were interrupted by Namjoon walking into the room with two men I didn't know. They looked around our age, maybe a little younger.
"Hey Melody" he greeted as he hugged Mels. He turned to me and hugged me too. "Thank you both for meeting me here, I'm sorry it's been really busy lately and I didn't have the time to come pick you up." I looked over at his friends. One seemed to be radiating energy, like I could feel light radiating off of him. The other seemed a bit younger, and looked like he worked out a lot. "These are my friends by the way, Hoseok and Jungkook. I'll take you back to the practice rooms so you can meet everyone else." Practice rooms? What did he mean by practice rooms?
Once we'd walked down the hall a bit, Joon opened a door and the five of us walked in. We were greeted by four more men, all around the same age standing in the middle of the room talking. They all turned to face us and it all of the sudden dawned on me how attractive all of Joon's friends were.
Guys, this is Melody, my soulmate, and this is my cousin Rosie," he says, gesturing to the two of us. I waved a little bit and Melody started to get a little shy.
"Hi guys, it's nice to meet you. Can I ask why all of you are sitting here in workout clothes? And Joon, why did the lady at the desk call you 'sir'?" All of them looked at each other and everyone started laughing, except Joon. He just shyly looked down.
"Well, I can probably answer both questions at once. I forgot I never told you what I did for a living. I am actually the leader of a k-pop group, a group with all of us. That's why we're all in the practice room. We're practicing because we have an album coming out in a few days. We were working on the choreography for the title track." My eyes widened. There is no fucking way that my clumsy ass cousin is in a k-pop group.
"You have got to be kidding me? I don't believe you. You can't walk 5 feet without tripping, and you expect me to believe you can dance?" The one in the back of the group started laughing. I looked at him. He was a little bit taller than me, and his smile was adorable
"We've been telling him that for years. Hell, I got blackmailed into dancing" he said and laughed. His laugh was contagious, and I smiled and laughed with him. His eyes sparkled when he laughed.
One of the men from earlier, I think his name was Jungkook, stepped forward. "If you don't believe us, why don't we prove it?"
"Ok then. Show me what you've got"
They all got into their positions as Hoseok started the music. After a few seconds of silence to allow him to get to his place, the music began, and they started dancing.

(Idk if it's going to appear but it's supposed to be the fake love dance practice)
I was in utter awe as I watched. There is no way this is actually true. My clumsy ass cousin and his friends are actually incredible dancers? What has this world come to? As they finished, I was in such a shock that I couldn't form words.
"What did you think of that?" asked Joon with a smirk.
"Firstly, THAT WAS AMAZING. Secondly, who sings that song and what is it called?" All of them looked at each other, leaving Melody and I confused.
"What? Do you all know something we don't?" Mels asked
"Oh that song is called Fake Love. It's the title track from our next album, the one I told you comes out in a few days." My eyes widened in shock. There is no way in hell. They can sing too????
"Are you being serious? That was amazing!" exclaimed Mels.
"Thanks for the feedback, it helps." said Hoseok from the back. "Why don't we order some lunch?" A chorus of yes resonated around the room, so Yoongi pulled out his phone to order. He handed it in a circle around the room, so everyone could put their orders into DoorDash, with him starting and me going last. By the time the phone came to me, I'd already decided what I wanted so I put in my order very quickly. Once it was in, I started to hand the phone to Yoongi, and as he grabbed it, our fingers touched ever so slightly.
It took a moment for me to realize, and I think he realized at about the same time, but my tattoo started to feel like it was burning. I tore my hand away and rolled up my sleeve to see my tattoo glowing a vibrant red and yellow. Yoongi's eyes widened. He pulled up his sleeve as soon as he saw my tattoo.
My eyes widened in shock when I saw his arm. Right there, exactly where my tattoo was on my arm, was an identical tattoo, glowing the same bright colors. There is actually no fucking way. No, no, no. I refuse. I don't care if he's kind of cute. I'm not leaving home for Seoul for a man I met ten minutes ago. I could tell Yoongi was in equal shock. He was just standing there with his eyes wide and his mouth open, like he was frozen.
"Yoongi, are you alright?" Joon asked as he shook him. "Yoongi?" Yoongi shook his head.
"What is happening?" a man in the back who I really noticed during the dance earlier.
"I don't know. I really don't know" Yoongi said softly.
A/N:
Hi guys sorry for the late update. I was at a P1Harmony concert this weekend and I wasn't able to publish this. Also, I really hope this isn't moving too fast. I'm going to try and make it a little more of a slow burn, so I hope I can make it work. Anyways, thanks for reading!
