Chapter 27

Last night, Draven surprised the hell out of me by telling me that he loved me. I have to tell you, it was definitely unexpected. What's more surprising is the fact I said it back without a second thought. We have only known each other for a few short months and only been official for a few days and I can't help but to feel a little scared.

I confided in Reese, who has been so supportive in this matter and I couldn't be more grateful. I asked him if he thought that we were moving too fast and all I got was you can't stop love. When you think about it like that, he's right. You can't stop love.

As I'm getting ready for my class with James. Draven comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my waist, pulling me back and kissing my neck. "What are you thinking about?"

I spin around in his arms and wrap mine around his neck. "You," I peck his lips. "I was thinking about you!" Anymore he is all I think about.

"I hope it was all good things." He wiggles his eyebrows.

I giggle, "It was. I promise."

He smiles and begins to sway back and forth. It's almost like he is dancing to music he can only hear. "Are you almost ready?"

Draven has decided that it would be best if he was to accompany me to my class' today. I'm a little nervous to have him watching me. I don't want to embarrass myself in front of him.

"Yeah, I just need to slip on my shoes."

He pulls back to take in my appearance. "Are you going dressed like that?"

I glance down at my outfit. I'm wearing a pair of black yoga pants and a matching workout bra. I don't see anything wrong with it.

"Yes! This is what I always wear. Why?"

"No reason," he shakes his head. "I was just wondering. That's all!"

I place my hand on his forearm,"You're not one of those guys who likes to tell their girlfriends what they can and cannot wear are you? Cause if you are, we are about to have our first major problem." No one has ever told me what to wear before and it's not going to start now.

"Actually I'm not. I think you look hot as fuck right now." He pulls me close. "But I really don't like the idea of another man having his hands all over you while you're wearing almost nothing."

I really don't think he has to worry about James. What happened between me and him was an innocent mistake on his part. He got caught up in the moment and apologized for it. He knows that Draven and I are together now and wouldn't do anything to jeopardize that. I trust him.

"I don't think you have to worry about James. Besides, you'll be there to protect me. If anything gets out of hand, I have you there to save me. You're like my own personal Superman!" I joke.

I peck him on the lips once more and finish gathering up my things. Besides clothes, most of my stuff is kept in my gym bag so I don't forget anything. I made that mistake once and paid for it in push-ups. Fifty to be exact. My arms felt like jello for days.

We make our way downstairs and to my disappointment, Reese was nowhere to be found. "Where did Reese go?" It's not like him to leave without saying goodbye.

"Oh, he said he had to take care of something. He'll be back later."

"Oh...okay!"

Draven pulls into the warehouse that James uses for training. It's not as big as the other warehouses I've been to, but big enough for what he needs it for. That's why Reese lets him use it. Draven walks around the car, opens the door and offers me his hand, which I take. He then grabs my gym bag from the backseat and throws it over his shoulder and grabs my hand, leading me into the building.

When we enter the gym, I can hear bare knuckles connecting with punching bags and I cringe. I'll never understand why they hit the bags with bare fists. It sounds so painful. As we pass, everyone greets me with the nickname they have given me. They have been calling me Sugar for so long, that I'm starting to think that they don't know my real name anymore.

James is sparing with one of his top fighters, R.J, The Jawbreaker, Hamilton. R.J is one of James' youngest and newest recruits and has a lot of potential in becoming number one in this business.

R.J is the first to spot me and smiles. "Hey Sugar, are you ready to get in the ring with me yet?"

I can feel Draven's hand tighten around mine, but I ignore it. "You know one day I'm going to take you up on that offer." I joke.

"Promises...Promises."

James chuckles as he climbs out of the ring and approaches us. "Hey, Wren! How are you feeling?" He points to my visibly bruised ribs.

"They only hurt when I touch them. Other than that, they're good. Thanks for asking."

He smiles, "Good, that means nothings broken. So are you ready?"

"You know it!"

"How about taking a little easier on her today," Draven chimes in. I almost forgot he was here.

James cocks an eyebrow, "Why would I do that? She is one of my students and just because she's a little banged up doesn't mean she's incapable of handling it. She's a lot stronger than you give her credit for."

I turn to face Draven. You can tell he doesn't approve of James' choice of words. "I'm okay! I can handle it."

As much as he wants to protect he holds back and kisses me on the forehead, before taking a seat on the bleachers on the other side of the gym. I walk over to the bench and drop my bag down on it and grab my boxing gloves. James tapes my wrists and slips my gloves over my hands and instructs me to warm up. After fifteen minutes, he calls me over to the ring. I quickly change out of my boxing gloves and slip on my grappling gloves.

"We are going to do the same thing we did the last time."

"James!" I warn, climbing into the ring. "I swear, if you kick me in my ribs again, I'm going to beat the living shit out of you!" I'm not even kidding. That shit really hurt and I couldn't imagine being hit in them again. Especially now that they're already bruised.

He gives me a challenging look and my heart drops. "Then I suggest you cover yourself, Sugar. Now, get in your stance." He smacks his gloves together.

We've been sparing for who knows how long and he has yet to make an attempt on my ribs. James drops his left hand, leaving his jaw exposed and I take advantage, throwing a perfect blow into his jaw. James' head snaps to the right and the room goes silent. He spits a mouth full of blood on the mat and looks at me. I didn't mean to hit him that hard.

"James, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to hit you that hard."

Draven climbs into the ring and pulls me back behind him. I've never seen James, look so intense before and it's actually scary.

His eyes narrow on Draven, "I'm not going to hurt her. No need to get all defensive."

"Yeah, well I'm not willing to take that chance."

James chuckles, "You're joking right? I've known Wren for years now. I would never hurt her intentionally. She knows that," he looks at me. You know that right?" His voice sounds desperate and it breaks my heart.

James is right. I have known him for a long time and even though he looked at me like he wanted to kill me, I still trust him.

"Yeah, I know," I reassure him. "But what hat was that?"

"Sometimes I get a little...angry when I'm caught off guard like that. If you were anyone else, I would have laid you out." He said the last part softly. "But I refrained myself and nothing happened. So stop acting like it did." He turns his attention back to, Draven.

They don't need to fight over this. I step around Draven, positioning myself between him and James. "Look everything is okay. I'm okay! Nothing happened. Just calm down." I look up at Draven and whisper, "Please!"

Draven looks down at me and his gaze softens. "Okay," he whispers back and pulls me into his chest. I can hear his heart pounding in his chest.

"I'm sorry, Wren! It won't happen again," James says.

"I hope not," Draven counters.

I pull away from Draven and pull James into a bone crushing hug. "I still trust you," I tell him. I can feel his hesitation, but eventually he hugs me back.

"I'm glad to hear it."

Draven clears his throat, gaining our attention. He doesn't look happy at all. "Don't worry, I'm not trying to steal your girl," James laughs. "Besides, everyone here can see you have her heart." He lets go of me.

Draven's eyes soften as he stares into mine. His smile reaches those big, beautiful, sapphire eyes, I love so much. James is right. Draven does have my heart.

"Alright! None of that mushy shit in my gym. We're done for the day," James nudges me forward and I stumble into Draven.

Just as I finished packing my bag, Draven snatches it from my hands. He laces his fingers through mine and ushers me out the building in a rush. What's his hurry?

"What's the rush?"

Draven opens the car door and I slide in. "You my dear, have a date this evening and you need to get ready." He closes the door.

Excitement courses through my body. I've never been on a date before. "A date? Like an actual date?" He nods his head. "I've never been on a date before."

It's the truth. I have never ever been on a date before in my life. Maxen has always taken me to fancy places, but I couldn't consider those dates, since his friends were always there.

Draven chuckles nervously, "Well...that makes two of us."
