Chapter 19

Oakley's birthday party is in full swing. I watch from the porch as all the kids swim in the swimming pool, Reese had bought for the kids last summer. That man is always spoiling my kids. I laugh when Reese launches Oakley into the pool from the deck. She squeals before crashing into the water.

Over the years, Reese has become somewhat of a father figure to my kids. Not replacing Maxen, but taking up the role when Maxen wouldn't. He loves them like his own and would do anything in the world for them. One day he will make an amazing father. Speaking of Maxen, he was suppose to be here an hour ago.

He is always making promises he can't keep. Sad to say, but both of my kids are use to it and don't expect much out of him.

Draven wraps his arms around my waist, avoiding my ribs in the process. My body betrays me and melts into his embrace. Draven chuckles and places his chin on the top of my head.

Not only has Draven been incredibly helpful, but sweet as well. He has shown me a completely different side of him that I didn't even know existed, until now. Surprisingly, he even spent some time talking with my children.

About what? I don't know. All I know is that both Oakley and Grayson like him.

"Thank you for all your help. I really appreciate it."

In truth, I really didn't expect him to help out as much as he did. He helped blow up balloons, helped finish cooking and even decorated the cake, adding his own little touch to it.

He reverts his eyes to the pool, "Don't mention it." I turn my attention to the pool, trying to figure out what he is starring at.

Reese is leaning on the side of the pool, watching all the kids play volleyball. One of Grayson's friends hits the ball, smacking Reese in the face.
I laugh.

Draven grabs my chin, gently turning my face back to him. I look at him questioning. He definitely has something on his mind. "You have two amazing children, Wren and I want to be a part of their lives...and yours if you'll have me?! He taking my hand in his.

I am completely blown away right now. His thumb grazes my knuckle, "You're all I can think about. From the time I wake up to the time I go to bed, you are always on my mind, and now that I got to know your children, I want all of you."

I lean back on the banister, " Y-you want to be with me?"

Draven chuckles and pulls me close. "Yes, I want to be with you." His thumb rubs circles over the back of my hand. Since Draven and I started this 'thing' between us, I never thought in a million years that he would be standing here before me, asking me to be his.

"Yeah, what do you say?" Reese's voice calls out from behind me. I turn to see him and the entire party is staring at us. I glare at Reese, who obviously knew all about this and he sends me a devious smirk confirming what I suspected.

So many questions are running through my mind right now. I glance over at my children, who have smiles plastered on their faces, then turn my attention to Reese, who nods his head in approval, mouthing 'say yes'. If Reese thinks this is a good idea, then why not? He would never set me up for heartbreak.

"Yes!" I turn my attention back to Draven. " I say yes!"

Draven smiles and smashes his lips into mine. He wraps his arms around my body, holding me tight against him like I'm going to disappear. I hear clapping in the background, but ignore it and kiss him back. There is something different about this kiss. Every kiss I have shared with Draven, has been amazing, but you could tell he was holding back. This time it feels desperate. Like he needs me.

I know that being with someone like Draven is dangerous, and that there is a chance that I will get hurt in the end. But I can no longer deny the way I feel towards him. My mothers words keep playing over and over again in my head. 'You never know unless you try!' and I am willing to try.

Draven breaks the kiss, and rests his head on mine, smiling down at me like a Cheshire cat. I always thought he had a beautiful smile, but this one tops them all. Reese walks up on the porch and pats Draven on the back, congratulating him on taking the next step. He then engulfs me in a hug, and whispers, " If he hurts you, I will kill him," in my ear, and I laugh.

I clap my hands together, gaining everyone's attention, yelling, " it's time to eat," and enter the house. Everyone files in, as I begin to pull the Taco Pinwheels and other appetizers from the fridge and place them on the counter. Draven pulls two pizza's from the oven and lets them cool on the counter, before cutting them. He sends me a wink, when he notices me watching him, causing me to blush. Reese picks up the cooler and carries it outside, where we will all be eating.

I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have both of them here to help me. After everyone got their food, we all head out to the picnic tables, Reese had set up earlier in the backyard. With all the kids that are here, they easily filled two of them. Reese takes a seat at the one closes to the porch, and pats the seat next to him. Draven sits his plate down across from him.

"Not happening brother," Draven approaches me, taking my plate and grabbing my hand, leading me to the seat next to him. "She has a boyfriend now." He smirks at his own words, and sits down next to me. "You don't get to hog her anymore. He takes a bite of his linguini salad.

Reese places both of his elbows on the table and leans in. The look in his eyes is challenging. "Just because you're her boyfriend, doesn't mean shit." I glance at Draven who has stopped chewing. "She's my bestfriend and nothing will change what we have, not even my own brother."

Reese does have a point. He is my best friend. Draven glances between the two of us and swallows his food.

"Fine, but there will be some ground rules." Reese shakes his head in disbelief. He really isn't one to follow the rules. He should know this. "No more cuddling! No more sitting on his lap and absolutely no more dancing. I don't want to have to kill someone for touching you. The rest of the shit you guys do, it fine with me."

That's fair. I can live with that. I never really liked dancing anyway. I look at Reese who seems to be pondering over what, Draven has said in his head.

"That's fine. I don't care if she dances or not. I mean she is known for racking in the money when she does, but she has other jobs. But...she's a big part of the fight-club Draven, she needs to be there when they happen."

"What do you mean she's a big part of it? What does she do?"

"She does multiple things, and being the hype girl is one of them. All my fighter's love and respect her. She not only keeps them in line, but she boosts their confidence as well and it works. They call her, Sugar. They say she's as sweet as sugar. That's where the name comes from, not from dancing. As long as she can continue doing that. I have no problem agreeing with your terms."

Draven nods his head, "It's a deal!"

After we all have finished eating, I head into the house to grab the cake. When I entered the kitchen, I gasp in horror. Almost half the cake has been eaten. A scream of frustration leaves my mouth, echoing through the kitchen. I am completely pissed off by Grayson's actions. How he managed to pull this off has me baffled.

Draven and Reese, burst through the door, almost pulling it off the hinges, followed by Oakley and her friends.

"What's wrong," Draven asks.

Reese walks over to the counter. "I'll tell you what's wrong. Grayson ate Oakley's cake again," he sighs and begins to wipe the crumbs from the counter. You can hear the disappointment in his voice.

Grayson and his friends make their way down the stairs, snickering as they enter the kitchen. Grayson stops in his tracks when he see's all of us standing in the kitchen. Oakley's growls, and her face starts to turn beet-red. "You're dead!" Oakley shouts, lunging herself towards Grayson. Before she could reach him, Reese, grabs Oakley and holds her back. Grayson bolts out the front door and slams it shut behind him. She begins thrashing and screaming profanities in, Reese's arms.

"Oakley," I shout, gaining her attention. Tears begin to stream down her face, breaking my heart. Reese lets go of her and she wraps her arms around me tightly, causing me to hiss in pain. I have forgotten all about my ribs until now.

Her tears begin to soak my shirt. "Why does he do this?" I rub my hand up and down her back soothingly. "I don't know, baby." I kiss the top of her head. No one knows why he does the things he does. Half the time I don't think he even knows.

Oakley sniffs and releases her hold on me. She turn to her friends and gestures for them to follow her outside and they do.

I feel a headache coming on and rub my temples. I turn my attention to Draven who is leaning on the counter comfortably with his hands folded of his chest. For a moment, I thought I seen a hint of amusement on his face. If he really wants to be with me, this is what he will have to deal with.

"Are you sure you want all this?" I gesture around the room with my hands. I walk to the cupboard and grab the ibuprofen, popping two in my mouth and put the bottle back. Reese fills a cup with water and hands it to me.

"Of course I want it!" He pushes himself off the counter and pulls me into his chest wrapping his arms around me. His heartbeat is soothing. I could stay like this forever.
