Chapter 20
Axel Valdez
I was getting ready for our date. I wore a ripped jeans with plain white shirt, folding its sleeves above my wrist and my white converse.
I was waiting for an hour in the park where we kissed yesterday. It was the best day of my life. I still can feel her soft lips on my lips.
I was getting impatient and started walking to and fro. Then I saw a figure at a distance walking towards me. It was Lyn. She was wearing black leggings with white crop top and black converse with a guitar hanging on her back. She was looking damn hot.
"Sorry I'm late." She apologized as soon as she reached me.
"Its okay I just got here a minute ago." I lied as all my anger replaced with love from hearing Lyn's sweet voice.
"Anyways why were you late?" I asked looking at the guitar.
"Oh I was performing at the cafe and forgot the time track." She said awkwardly.
"So you can sing also?" I said amazed. She nodded.
"Do you sing?" She asked looking at my eyes. For a moment I melted looking at her blue eyes.
"Yea I used to sing in high school." I said running my hands through my hair. She smiled which made my heart beat like it was running in a race.
"So let's go sit there." I said pointing at the grass in front of the lake. She nodded and went towards the grass. I followed her. We settled ourselves on the grass. She was sitting quietly looking at the lake.
"Its beautiful right?" She said looking amazed at the lake.
"Yes its beautiful." I said looking at her. She turned her gaze at me. "What?" She asked.
"The lake of course." I said shifting my gaze at the lake. She giggled quietly.
"I thought you were not going to come." I said looking at the blue sky.
"Yea I also thought that." She said. I looked at her and pecked her lips. She started blushing and was dumbfounded.
"So what do you wanna do? Sit here all day?" She asked looking at me.
"Your wish." I said lying down on the grass and looking at her back.
"We don't have anything to do then as we have done all the things everyone does on a date a month ago." She said in a low voice.
"Then why don't we sing or draw each others drawing." I said sitting up from my previous position.
"Then why don't we first draw." She said her eyes twinkling. I smiled and went to a nearby stall to buy papers and pencils.
I came back after sometimes and saw Lyn preparing herself in the grass. I chuckled and went towards her.
"Oh you're here." She said as soon as I reached there. I handed her a paper and pencil. We settled ourselves in front of each other and started drawing each other.
"My drawing is gonna be the best one." I said excitedly.
"Keep on dreaming," she said as she concentrated on her drawing. She looked so radiant when she concentrated and sometimes she would pout and I felt an urge to grab her tightly and kiss those pouty lips of hers all day.
After half an hour of drawing each other we finished and decided to show. We were arguing to who would show first and eventually I lost and I had to show first.
"Don't laugh." I said as I showed the sketch.
"Stop this drama and show me." She said whining like a 5 years old.
I closed my eyes and showed it. She was silent. I opened one eye and saw her. She was looking at my drawing with eyes wide open.
"What is it?" I asked worriedly. She stared at me with awe.
"Did you really draw this?" She asked pointing at the sketch.
"Yes is it that bad." I said looking at the sketch.
"No its amazing. I didn't knew you were such a good artist." She complimented me and I started blushing.
"Now show me your one." I said trying to change the topic.
She showed me her one and my jaws dropped open.
"What?" She asked looking at me. I closed my eyes and just stared at her.
"...your one is..is...." I said while trying to hold back my laughter.
"My one is what? Its really bad right?" She said looking a bit sad. "No its not...its good but is it me?" I asked laughing at her drawing. "I knew you would laugh..I'm good at everything except drawing." She said looking at her drawing.
"I'm gonna keep it with me." I said taking her sketch of mine from her grasp. "Why? It doesn't even look like you." She said confused.
"I don't care its the first thing that you did for me...so its mine." I said with a smile. "OK you can keep it but I'm taking your one." She said picking my one.
"No!" I said.
"Why?" She asked with a confused look.
"I wanna keep your one with mine. I'll draw you another one. I promise but not this one." I said taking out another paper.
"OK." I said with a huff.
After another half an hour I finished and handed it to Lyn.
"So let's sing now." Lyn said excitedly. I nodded and grabbed her guitar. I handed the guitar to her. She looked at it confusingly.
"Start now." I said handing the guitar.
"But I thought you were going to sing first." She said looking at me.
"No ladies first." I said flashing a smile.
"OK get ready." She said and started fixing the chords.
She took a deep breath and started with a slow start:
Looking up at the budding trees I smile broadly
When I see you I heat up, in my heart I realized it
A wish I can't voice, I want to touch you
I'm looking for a reason again...
Your hair flowing around the flower wind snatches my heart away
Neither close nor far, this distance is fine
So for as long as time allows
Just...let me stay by your side
Your gaze chasing after the future is so bright, I can't destroy it
With a melancholy white breath, I gently lower my extended hand
Love is fine as love, somehow like this
I'll keep my feelings to myself
Surely conveying feelings... its not everything
So don't ever notice these feelings
Until the day you bloom
I will just...look over you.
Go your way. Believe in yourself.
You are fine as 'you'
Those tears are also a sign of your strength, hidden in the rain...
On our usual street, the flower wind circles the familiar scenery
Only you are missing, but its not goodbye
This decorated sky
Look...its connecting us.
