It was the summer holidays and I had just come home after being at the beach all day with some friends from school, I had asked any of them if they wanted to stay over for a night, all of them had said no since they were either looking after a younger sibling or they wanted to get some work done, I asked them if they wanted to stay over because I had been hearing strange noises during the night like voices and things slamming shut or breaking, but every time I asked my father if he heard the noises as well but they always told me that there wasn't any and that it was just my imagination or that I was just dreaming about it all

But I asked them to stay over because I didn't want to be alone since my father was out for the week at a cabin to relax and my brother was at his friends for the night.

It was nearly midnight and I was too scared to go to sleep since I had heard something again but this time it sounded like it was from inside my walk-in closet, eventually I lied down and told myself that it was just my imagination but suddenly there was a knock at the door, I jumped out of bed and looked at the time, 03:05 it read, I walked downstairs and towards the front door I looked out the peep-hole and there was some sort of figure I opened the door but there wasn't anything there as if the thing had just disappeared or teleported suddenly I heard another knock at the door, but this time it sounded like it came from inside the house but I was home alone so it couldn't have Benny father or brother playing a trick on me since they were not home.

I went upstairs to see what the noise was but as I got closer I could make out where the noise was coming from and I found out that the noise was coming from my closet, I walked towards the closet but as soon as I grabbed the handle the knocking stopped, I pulled open the door and braced myself for anything but nothing came, I heard running coming towards my door, so I grabbed a bat and waited, suddenly my room door opened and my mother barged in screaming something about a burglar had broke into the house...

But...

My mother was murdered by a burglar 5 years ago
