Chapter 13

"I'm tired Barry," Dawn says as I'm dragging her out of bed.

"Come on, we have to go train if you want to help me! You don't even know how to run up buildings yet," I tell her.

"I'll learn tomorrow!"

She is not getting out of bed. This calls for desperate measures. "I bet Cisco finished making your speedster suit."

Dawn stops struggling immediately. A flash of lightning whips by me and the bathroom door shuts. Two seconds later she comes out wearing a white STAR Labs t-shirt and black leggings with her hair in a bun and she is wearing a little mascara. That is another thing I like about Dawn- she never wears much makeup.

"Let's go!" she exclaims. I hope Cisco is done with that suit because if he isn't Dawn's going to have a fit. We run to the labs and into the Cortex. Sure enough, the cavity in the wall where my suit is has widened and now there is another smaller suit next to it. I beam in it's direction. They look good. Dawn squeals and runs toward putting it on in a split second. Her suit is the same material as mine but it crosses in the front and it's sleeveless. It covers her face like mine except the top of her head is exposed so her strawberry blonde hair falls out. There is a lightning bolt in the front just like mine.

"How does it look," she says with excitement.

"Amazing!" Iris says as she walks in the room. Dawn smiles.

"Isn't it?" Cisco says with admiration. He looks exhausted; he has bags under his glassy eyes and his shoulders are slouched like he could collapse any second. Dawn seems to catch on to his weariness as well.

"Did you sleep at all last night?"

Cisco yawns. "No, but its fine. I'm good."

"Hey, Cisco? Why doesn't my suit look that good?" I ask jokingly, although some part my my statement was serious. I speed into my suit.

"You ready? We're going to Ferris Air. Where's Caitlin?"

"She's having a bad day today, I think she'll skip this one. I have some tech I need to work on too so I'll pass," Cisco says.

"I'll go," Jesse volunteers cheerfully.

"I thought running cross country at school was hard," Dawn exasperates after five hours of training. I've taught her mostly everything. I still have yet to see that weird wind thing happen when Dawn runs.

"And I still don't have nickname."

I laugh. "Maybe you should leave it up to the media. As long as they don't call you The Streak."

"Where did you get your alter-ego?" Dawn asks.

"The Green Arrow gave it to me," I say presumptuously. Dawn's face drops.

"You know the Green Arrow?"

"Yup," I say. She rolls her eyes.

"Mind sharing who it is?"

"Yes. I don't want to get stabbed in the back, again." She gives me a questioning look. "The Green Arrow trained me; just like I'm training you."

"So if the Green Arrow trained you, does that means the rest of the team knows who he is too?"

"Everyone. Except you," I say. I can't help the smile that spreads across my face. My phone buzzes. Felicity? That's weird we were just talking about...

"Hey Felicity," I answer the phone. Dawn raises her eyebrows and mouths Felicity's name. I laugh at her smirk and shake my head. "Just a friend," I mouth.

"Hey Barry," she says. "I was thinking we would come down to Central City for the weekend. We have some DNA analysis that needs to be done. Think you can help?"

"Of course," I say into the phone.

"Great see you then," she says in her sweet tone and then hangs up. Felicity and I met at a crime scene a little over a year ago. She works for the Green Arrow and when he got hurt Felicity asked me to help. Now we are allies and really close friends.

"Who's Felicity?" Dawn asks suspiciously.

"Felicity Smoak. She lives in Star City. She is another one of the super smart girls that I surround myself with," I say facetiously.

"Felicity Smoak? Like the hacker?" Dawn's eyes are wide.

"Yeah," I say cautiously.

"Hmm, interesting."

Dawn's face goes pale and she stumbles. Before she has time to face plant, I catch her. Five hours of training and we haven't eaten all day. How stupid am I?

"Oh, sorry Dawn," I say lifting her back to her feet. "Now that you're a speedster your metabolism rate is a lot faster."

"So I need to eat more?" She says like it's no problem. I laugh.

"You need to consume about ten thousand calories a day." A wave of dizziness falls over me. "So do I."

We wrap up our training, run to get food, and head back to STAR Labs. When we get there I see Cisco laying face down on his desk surrounded by large bottles of Gatorade and cups of coffee. There are thin pieces of metal and tools in his hands.

"Cisco?" Dawn says walking towards him. "Dude get up." She taps his shoulder and he wakes with a start, knocking over a large empty Gatorade bottle.

"You have drunk seven of theses since I left," she says in an unbelievable tone. "Your pancreas is going to want to kill its self. What are you working on anyways?"

"It's a new type of tachyon device for you and Barry's suits. It should make you run three times faster." Dawn smiles but then turns stern again.

"Water. Drink lots of it," she turns facing me. "You should take him home."

I nod in agreement. "While your at it," Cisco says tired. "Can you check on Caitlin for me?" I nod and do his request. After dropping him off at his house I run to Caitlin's apartment. It looks empty at first then I knock on her bedroom door.

"Caitlin?"

"Barry? Come in," she strains. She sounds like she has been crying. When I walk in my theory is proven. Her face is puffy and her eyes are red; she is still in her pajamas and her hair is thrown on top of her head in a messy bun.

"Hey what's wrong. Cisco said you were having a bad day," I say, sitting on the end of her bed. She nods.

"It's really nothing. Some days I just miss him," she sniffles. Right before I met Dawn, Caitlin's husband, Ronnie Raymond, died. He was a good person; he treated Caitlin very well. I didn't know him for a long time but he was like Dawn in the way that you could get to like him very fast. I swing my arm around her shoulders.

"I'm sorry, are you going to be okay?" She nods. I try to change the subject to make her feel better. "Felicity and Oliver are coming into town this weekend." This instantly lightens her mood.

"Good." Then she gets a nervous look. "Barry, what are we going to do about Zoom?"

"I don't know."
