• Chapter Ten - Dinner With Another •

Tom lay back on his bed and exhaled deeply. He ruffled his hair, as his thoughts were still on what happened yesterday.

Chloe did call and text, but Tom didn't say what actually happened- otherwise, she may have taken it the wrong way.

Although, he spoke his friend- who was a boy.

 And no, not a boyfriend!

Why it was the 1.83m tall goofball we all know and love.

Benedict.

And he told him to not stress, and basically... hurry up and do what was plausible- which was to do the dance with no pants.

And Tom thought, typically Benny boy.

Especially, after bagging Caroline, he was rather happy.

And he wanted to make his single, great friend to have the same thing that he had at this moment in time. And straight after that awkward phone call, came a- at least Tom hoped so- less awkward one with Chloe...

"Tom, hey!" She cried out from the other side of the phone, and Tom smiled.

"Hey C-Chloe. What's up?" Tom asked, rubbing the back of his neck.

"I... was... thinking... since we had to put coffee on hold..." Chloe fiddled with her fingers, while pulling her legs into her chest. "Why don't I invite you over..." She inhales to push the words out. "... for some, food?" Asking, she simpered as she asked in a better tone of confidence since the last time they spoke.

"W-well..." Tom stuttered.

"It'll be nice... to do something. We can... you know, catch up." Chloe commented, before smiling.

"I-I guess, that'll be... nice." Brushing his hair, Tom couldn't help but chuckle. "Thanks Chloe."

"Be there at... well, tonight at, seven. Leave early." Chloe emphasised. "Miss the traffic and get here." She let out a smile.

"Of course, ma'am." Tom said with a salute and bowed his head.

And that was around four hours and Tom has driven to Chloe's house, with his hair all sleek and combed back- and for once, Tom wore a shirt which was eligible for a posh night out.

He pulled out all he stops, hoping that he might have a nice night with his old best friend- hoping he wouldn't have the same feeling as yesterday.

Tom took a heavy breath as he did a few days ago, and knocked on his door, trying to ensure that the right facial expression would show on his face as soon as Chloe opened the door.

"Hey!" Tom smiled. "Tom, thank god, you're early." Chloe giggled and Tom took a step forward, walking inside her home. "May I take your coat?" Chloe asked, holding out her hands.

"Hey..." Tom grabbed hold of her hand and twirled her around, Chloe squealing. "You, don't need to take, my coat!" Spinning around, Tom slow danced with Chloe.

"Tom... what are you doing?" Chloe asked, frowning.

"Don't you remember doing this..." Tom whispered.

"W-When... D-Dad..." She swallowed and Tom placed her hands onto her face.

"Hey... hey... don't think about that... Think about, the here and the..." His voice drifted off when, he stopped, as Chloe stared at someone in the distance. Tom turned around, his mouth drooping.

"Hi, I'm Dean." Tom breathed out and his eyes widened, Chloe releasing her hands from Tom.

"T-Tom..." He managed to spit out.

"Sorry, Tom, I wanted you to tell you." She inhaled, making her way towards Dean. "This is also an old friend of mine." Chloe lightly chuckled.

"R-right." Tom took of his coat, while hiding his curled up his fist. Again, he felt it- and he didn't know why. "Chloe, sorry, can I go get a drink?" She nodded.

"Sure..." Smiling, Tom rushed to the kitchen and left Dean and Chloe together.

However, Tom turned back for a moment- hearing quiet giggling and gasping.

And he laid eyes on the fact that Dean and Chloe kissed.

And there was that feeling.
