Chapter 5
3rd person pov
Dream and Blue came rushing down the stairs when they saw what happened to Error.
Dream undid every lock on the metal door, and then both Sanses burst into the room.
Ink jolted in surprise and looked at them.
"INK WHAT HAPPENED?!"
Blue yelled.
Ink looked down at the unconscious glitch in his arms.
"Well... I told him I wouldn't let him go when he asked me to stop holding him... then he just... tightly closed his eyes, and clamped his hands over his skull... then he said "shut up" out of nowhere and I wasn't even talking... then he began to mutter. When he opened his eyelids, his eyelights were completely replaced by error signs. Even behind those error signs I could see his eyelights buzzing and disoriented, but he looked so scared. His body was shaking too. Then he began to hyperventilate, and he screamed "SHUT UP!" Again, and he went limp, but was still hyperventilating. Then, a few moments later he passed out..."
Ink said; looking at the small glitch in his arms with concern.
"By everything you said... I think... I think he heard something in his head... do you think maybe he hears voices...?"
"I CAN CONFIRM THAT ERROR DOES HEAR VOICES. WHEN HE BROUGHT ME TO THE ANTI-VOID, HE WOULD TALK TO HIMSELF AND SHOUT OUT OF NOWHERE, CLAMP HIS HANDS OVER HIS HEAD, SCRATCH AT HIS SKULL AND SOCKETS, SCREAM, LASH OUT, BANG HIS HEAD, ATTACK THIN AIR AND CRASH. WHEN I ASKED HIM WHO HE WAS TALKING TO, HE SAID "THE VOICES." SO YES, HE HEARS VOICES IN HIS HEAD."
Blue said seriously. Ink and Dream's eyelights became pinpricks.
"I didn't think his mental state would be worse than what I already thought... maybe that's why he lashes out the way he does...?"
Ink whispered. This new information caught him off-guard.
(Hey, I can tell you something that caught you readers off guard!
This new chapter. Poof, it came out of nowhere. Just kidding, I gave birth to it.)
Ink gave the unconscious Error a sad look as he brushed his hand against Error's cheekbone, and traced the tear-lines.
"Poor Error..."
Ink murmured as he got off the bed and stood up, set Error back onto the bed, and pulled the covers over him.
"We should go upstairs now and give him some space to rest. And besides, there's something I want to discuss."
Dream said; his normal happy voice gone, and replaced by a tone of seriousness and authority.
Ink and Blue nodded. Ink opened the door, Blue and Dream thanked him for getting the door and headed upstairs. Ink took one last glimpse at the sleeping Error.
"Have a good sleep."
Ink said with a gentle smile. Then, he shut the door quietly and locked all the locks on the metal door.
Ink went upstairs and sat on the couch beside Blue. Dream sat in front of them on a modern living room chair with soft cushions.
Dream cleared his throat, and began to speak.
"So, if Error hears voices... how do we get rid of them? I personally don't know much about things like this."
"I THINK SCI OR MED KNOWS ABOUT THESE KINDS OF THINGS..."
Blue said, seeming to be thinking of another possible solution.
"Or... maybe once he begins to trust us at least a little bit, maybe he'll open up? Even if it's only one little thing?
*sigh* ...I'm gonna be honest here... I'm not sure if getting Sci involved is the best idea, even if he's almost always right. Dream, you said he forced you to take that collar right? Even if that collar may be of use soon but-I'm-hoping-not, I just... I feel guilty. Error isn't a pet that I'm taming for my own entertainment. I'm doing this because not only am I saving the multiverse from all this destruction, I also get the chance to get closer to Error and help him with his problems.
...Well... the collar MIGHT be AT LEAST A LITTLE necessary. I've seen Error completely flip his shit. And it's not good. He's like a savage animal when he gets like that. Snarling, hissing, growling, even crawling around on all fours...it's almost as if... he's like, half cat or something-"
"Ink. You're rambling and off topic."
Dream said, slightly irritated at Ink getting distracted.
"Guess you could say..."
Slap
"OH HELL NO."
"Ow- Blue, that hurt!"
"GOOD."
"Wah-?!"
Slap
"JUST CONTINUEEEEEE I COULD BE OUT CATCHING BEES INSTEAD OF YOUR DUMB RAMBLING!"
"Okay okay! I'll go on! *ahem* as I was saying, the collar might get it's chance unfortunately... I mean, I'm not sure if you saw it or not but when Error finished rebooting, he was PISSED. Well, he looked pretty scared too. And when I wouldn't tell him where this place is, he tried to attack me with his strings. Kudos to those cuffs.
When he saw the cuffs, he freaked out and tried to pry them off. He could've hurt his wrists. So I grabbed his arms, and he looked shocked. Then he began to glitch out more, bared his teeth at me and yelled at me not to touch him-"
"Um Ink, we get it. Blue and I saw everything..."
"Stalkers."
"I-it's not like that-! You see, Blue and I just wanted to make sure you would be okay! Well... we also wanted to see how Error would react to all this, y'know...? Back when we would fight him, I think we all saw the insanity and pain in his eyes... he looked so broken, so torn, and in so much pain... I could feel his emotions. His overwhelming anger, sadness, hurt... the poor thing shouldn't have to suffer like that..."
Dream said with sympathy for the deranged destroyer.
"WHEN HE TOOK ME INTO THE ANTI-VOID... I BEGAN TO SEE THE REASON WHY HE BROUGHT ME THERE. THE LONELINESS WAS TEARING HIM APART. THAT'S WHY I THINK IT'S A GOOD THING YOU BROUGHT HIM HERE INK... I REMEMBER WHENEVER ERROR FORGOT I WAS IN THE ANTI- VOID WITH HIM, HE... HE WOULD SCREAM, CRY, CLAW AT HIMSELF... IT WAS SO HEARTBREAKING."
Ink's eyelights became even smaller...
'So that's why I sometimes saw Error with scratches near his eyes, on his wrists and neck in battle...'
Ink thought to himself.
"Oh my gosh... that's... that's terrible..."
"How did we not realize before...?"
Ink took in a deep breath.
"In that case... I'm glad I brought him here. I won't leave him alone. I'll keep him company and show him life can be great without death and destruction. I'm gonna take care of him."
Dream and Blue's eyelights morphed into shiny stars, admiring Ink's determination to help Error even after everything he's done.
"... I admire you Ink. Good luck taking care of Error. I'd help, but I still have a psychotic goopy octopus and a walking oreo on the loose..."
"SAME HERE. I'VE BEEN WANTING TO SAVE DUST, HORROR AND KILLER FOR A WHILE NOW... HOWEVER, FARMER AND COLOR ARE HELPING ME!"
Ink chuckled.
'Ah, what would I do without these two?'
