Chapter 19

3rd person pov

After dinner, Ink decided to stay in the basement with Error for a little while longer. Ink knew if he left Error by himself, one of his phobias would kick in. And, he was starting to enjoy being with Error. Before, he was spending time with Error in the cell for the sole sake of preventing him from escaping, and trying to monitor his behaviour.

Now, he was doing it for those reasons still, yes, but also because he was beginning to like being with the small glitch. Being with Error was always interesting. The destroyer always had something interesting to him, even if he was just sitting there, not even doing anything.

"One time I was in this AU, and it was FULL OF SNAKES! I almost got eaten, haha. Oh, one even looked like Classic, oddly!"

Ink rambled on, talking about random things to Error who was leaned against the wall, sitting on his bed. Error listened, occasionally stating his opinion. He didn't speak much though; he actually liked hearing about Ink's wacky stories, and more so loved hearing Ink's voice.

Whenever Ink spoke, it seemed that all the voices in his skull were reduced to little whispers. Unfortunately though, it didn't work all the time. But Error would gladly take what he got if it meant they went away for a while.

Then, Error caught himself thinking about enjoying listening to Ink.

'nO, i cAn'T grOw aTtaChEd! i nEed tO gEt oUt oF hErE, onE waY oR AnOthEr!'

He thought, glaring. Ink hadn't noticed Error glaring at the other side of the room, as he was too busy rambling. Ink loved to socialize. After all, no one really talked to him in the past. He was the only one who had feelings back then.

'sTiLl, wHaT iF I cAn'T eScApE, aNd hE kEepS mE iN tHis sMalL cElL, lOcKed uP fOreVeR?'

Error then began to feel very trapped, looking at every corner almost frantically. Stuck in this small space forever?! Sure, he hated being stuck in the anti-void but at least it was spacious, and he eventually was able to get out, so that definitely made being locked up in a cell forever much worse. He felt very claustrophobic now. The room felt kind of hot to him now.

Ink noticed Error looking around, and saw the sweat on his skull. Error was quite predictable to Ink.

"You okay? What's wrong?"

He asked, looking at his small little glitch. Error shook his skull, trying to clear his head, and focus less on the small, suffocating room.

"i'M oKay, bUt I hAvE a qUeStIon."

Ink cocked his head, eyelights morphing into question marks.

"Oh? What is it?"

Error looked down, building up the courage to ask Ink.

"ù-Ūm... hOw łOnG ãRè yOu plAnńÍnG tO kEêp mË hErË fOr...?"

Error asked, feeling nervous. He felt stupid for asking, but he needed to know.

"That depends on you. Once you stop wanting to destroy, and murder, you have a large chance of being set free. However, you'll also need to work on tuning the voices out, and... other things. Once I can trust you, I'll give you a good home!"

Error scratched his skull, looking at Ink.

"tHat'S gOinG tO tÂkË a WhĪlË! anD yOu dOn'T nEed tO gIvE mE a Home, I hAve oNe! tHe antI-voId!"

Error protested, glaring at Ink slightly. Ink looked at said glitch with pity.

"That's not how it works, Error... the anti-void isn't a good place for you..."

Error gave Ink a slightly mean look, sitting up straighter.

"wHäT dØ ÿOu mËAn "tHaT'Š ñOt hØw iT wOrkŠ"?! äŃd Thê aNtÍ-vØíd Ïs gOod fOr mÉ!"

Then Error recalled what Blue said to him earlier.

-"You want to go back to the anti-void, where there was nothing there but you? Nobody there to talk to you?
The place that messed you up and made you insane?"-

Error felt himself begin to remember his time spent in that hell. It brought up so much sadness in him, so much pain all at once...
He felt sick, like he was suddenly about to burst open. Like a flurry of power was banging against his ribs and soul, raging and storming.

He doubled over, gasping in pain. Ink felt like something terrible was about to happen, and his marrow ran cold. He didn't let that stop him though- he quickly scooped Error into his arms- said skeleton now yelling out in pain and clutching his abdomen- and made a portal to Sci's lab.

Ink got into the lab, kicking open the door to Sci's office.

"Ink what the-"

(Imagine if Ink saw what Sci was looking at on his computer at that very moment... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°))

"Sci it's an emergency!"

Sci quickly closed the page on his computer, and rushed over to Ink, ushering him into the next room, where there was a medical table and plenty of equipment. Error would have been scared shitless if he saw all the metal objects.

Ink set Error down on the table, and Sci pulled out Error's soul, but didn't check him.

It was swollen, and throbbing.

"I see the problem! Due to the restraints, his magic kept building up, and it had no way of being released from him so it just stayed stuck in there. This is going to be very risky, but we need to get the cuffs off now."

Ink nodded, grabbing broomie and summoning red paint on the giant brush. Error lay there, writhing in pain as his blue strings began to glow.

Sci grabbed a saw.

"On the count of three, break them! One, two, three!"

They destroyed the cuffs, and Error screamed out as he glowed blue, red and yellow, glitches exploding from his body. His body felt like it was on fire, whilst being stabbed by millions of pin needles.

The light was so bright, Sci and Ink had to shield their eyelights or else they'd be blinded.

The light suddenly disappeared. Ink and Sci re-opened their sockets. They looked at the table...

...

"What the..."

"Error...?"

All that was left on the medical table was remnants of a puff of black smoke, which faded away seconds later.
