Chapter Two

I dropped down into my seat just as the finally bell rang, Paisley giving me a thumbs up from the other side of the room. The girl proceeded to bring out a bag of chips, eating them while she got ready for the lecture we were all sure we would be getting that day.

"Paisley, how many times must I tell you that eating is not allowed in my class?" The low voice of my algebra teacher rung out, my head turning towards Paisley as the girls face turned bright red.

"But, I haven't eaten breakfast! You don't want me to faint from not eating, do you?" Paisley's mouth formed into a pout, all students around her trying to resist the urge to let out their laughs. I swore I could see our teachers mouth twitch as well, the woman struggling to keep her own smile down.

"I'm sure you can wait to eat in your second period class."

Paisley slowly put the bag of chips back in her bag, sticking a handful in her mouth once more while she pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose.

"Not like you need the chips anyways, fatty."

I whipped my head around, trying to locate the source of the voice but the only person I could think of that would be this rude was the one and only Casey Schrey. The girl was innocent enough in her looks but her personality was a thousand times worse, rude remarks constantly floating out.

I could only watch as Paisley's face once again showed the hurt I had seen earlier, the girl sitting forward in her desk with her head down.

"Mrs. Cavasos, can I take Paisley to the restroom?" My voice was strained and I could feel the eyes of all the students on the back of my head. I didn't care for my own embarrassment but I wouldn't sit here while my friend was verbally harassed and the teacher did nothing.

"I'm sorry Ms. Torres but I'll be starting my lesson now." With a wicked smile, I watched my teacher ignore the fact that one of her students was crying silently right in front of her while I could do nothing.

I was furious.

My eyes glanced around the lunchroom, settling on the table that i shared with my five closest friends. Lily was already seated with Paisley, rubbing the small girls back as if she was trying to comfort her.

I reached the small table just as our other three friends did. My eyes drifted throughout the three of them, emotions coming to surface as I studied their faces.

Hailee was suffering from boredom, Naseem from excitement and Beck just looked done with life. I sighed, knowing I probably looked no better then all my friends.

I glanced once more at Paisley, noticing the girl had no food in front of her, something that she never missed an opportunity at. A frown made a way onto my face and as I went to ask Paisley about it, the girl left the table, getting a pass to be excused to the bathrooms.

"What's up with her?" Beck asked, his eyes following Paisley's body like a hungry wolf. After finding some photos on his phone during sophomore year, I had found out the boy had a major crush on Paisley, thought he would never admit it.

"Guess," I muttered, stuffing a spoonful of pudding in my mouth, savoring the taste. It was the only thing our school had that they hadn't messed up majorly.

"Casey?" Hailee asked, the girl tilting her head while she just stirred the cold soup sitting in front of her. I could only nod, my group of friends rolling their eyes when they realized.

After finishing my pudding, I excused myself to go check on Paisley. She was the light of our table, if she was feeling down, normally it would place us all into bad moods for the rest of the day as well.

I slowly opened the bathroom door, peeking my head into the room as i caught sight of Paisley standing in front of the mirror.

"Just look at yourself. Your stomach is just rolling out over your pants. How the hell can you even wear that?" The wicked voice of Casey came from behind Paisley, the girl emerging from the stalls as she placed her hand on top of Paisley's shoulder.

It was in that moment that I noticed something I had failed to see over the past few months. Paisley had seemed to distance herself, eating less and less, now only eating during first period where she would just get yelled at to put the food away. My eyes took in the form of her cheeks that were slowly sinking into her face, the way her stomach was flat but Casey made it seem like it wasn't.

I've had enough.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" I removed Casey's grip from Paisley, staring down the girl as she seemed shocked by my sudden appearance.

"I'm just helping your dear friend fix her appearance is all. She asked for my advice, I'm giving it."

"You're killing her." Casey's eyes seemed to widen at this sentence before she played it off with a fake laugh, leaving the bathroom where I was left with Paisley.

"Paisley. . " I started, my expression changing from anger to sympathy. I hadn't noticed the torture my best friend was going through, just so she could be deemed perfect.

"Don't."

Paisley's voice was cold, her blue eyes sending jolts down my spine as I tried to look away. Paisley looked like she was pissed at me but I couldn't pinpoint why she would be. I had helped her.

"I asked her to do this! I asked her to say those things to me! I need to get rid of this!" The blonde grabbed at the little bit of fat on her stomach, squeezing it until it turned red. New tears were coming from her eyes, Paisley's sobs echoing off the walls of the small school bathroom.

I could only grab my friend, whispering that everything would be okay and that she could get help.

But something told me, in the back of my mind, nothing was going to be okay.

So. .  after a lot of months. . this gets a really short update, oops.

I just thought it deserved something! Also, this story is supposed to be a comedy so can't have the depressing chapters be too long. :\

But Paisley is one of my favorite side characters and I would say why but no thanks ;w;

Gif on the side of Paisley in the bathroom!
