This is a war themed poem that I wrote months ago. I was inspired by the book "Girl of Kosovo" by Alice Mead; the first war related book I read. I tried my best :)

Rapid fire of gunshots echoed

Sounding like metal raindrops

Ricocheting against tarnished, cracked walls

Wafting above the evening sky

Hiding inside old, wooden cabins

For protection, we sought

Bleak snowflakes dropping

Along with the mighty roars

Of man-made bombs

Exiled from our homeland

Absolute independence we have yearned

Taken away, vanished, against our will

World of war, one victorious, one shall yield
