Chapter 16

Nothing has been the same after Taehyung's death.

Nothing.

Everything seems more slow and like a blur. Nothing seems real anymore.

Jimin specifically is going through it the worse, especially since Taehyung was his best friend. He lost something inside him.

He lost his soulmate.

He lingers around with emotionless eyes, barely eating, barely training, only a heavy weight of guilt sits in his chest. If only he was more careful.. If only he was stronger or faster... If only he wasn't so weak. This wouldn't have happened. Taehyung would've been alive.

Taehyung didn't deserve this.

Everyone is obviously getting worried by Jimin's behavior but there's nothing they can do to change it. Nothing.

Taehyung is dead.

Even Fallen angels die.

Jungkook stares at Jimin's emotionless body on the bed as he stares at the ceiling. As much as Jungkook hates to admit it, Taehyung needs to be here. Especially if it's making Jimin this upset.

It's been a week and the mission as continued as it always been.

Except for the fact that Jungkook has lost his mercy among the humans. Without any more thought he banishes them to hell, knowing they don't deserve his mercy after the many chances he gives them to change.

Everyone is all selfish.

And that's what Taehyung saw, but Jungkook was so blind.

Some people don't deserve his mercy.

Jungkook continues to watch as Jimin's eyes slowly shuts, leaving him to a heavy sleep. At that moment Jungkook rises to his feet and swings a hoodie over his head with a backpack on his back. He writes a note and leaves it beside Jimin, giving him one last longing look before leaving the motel room. The rest of the boys are training but they'll be back soon so Jimin won't be by himself for long.

It hurts Jungkook to leave Jimin in these conditions, all alone, but it won't be for long, that's for sure.

So with quick feet, he moves down the side walk of the small town they have arrived in. The streets are dark and lonely, not a single soul in site.

This has been one of the towns that made everyone evacuate dude to the violence and riots that would occur in the area. Once officals came to remove the X species and take some subjects to be tested, this town remains deserted with a few people here and others who have returned from being isolated. However the streets at night still remain empty, people knowing how dangerous it could be at night..

But Jungkook didn't care.

He has one thing set in mind, and he's planning to accomplish that tonight.

For the sake of humanity.

So without a doubt in mind, he takes a turn to an alleyway and stops in front of a rusty door. He observes the door carefully and raises a hand over the nob. After a few tweeks, the door opens, a loud creak filling the air. Swiftly Jungkook steps inside and leaves a small creak at the door. Slowly he walks through the dark hallway, not a pitch of light in sight but that wasn't a problem for him, able to see in the dark with no problem.

Faint talking comes from down the hallway and Jungkook slowed his steps, making sure he didn't cause any noise. However, another noise reaches his hearing, causing his ears to perk and he freezes in his steps.

Waiting.

Just when he thought it was a faint of his imagination, he hears it again.

A whimper.

Without thinking twice, he quickly follows the noise down a flight of stairs to his right, past the faint talking until he pauses right in front of a door. He bends down, peaking through a small hole against the door, sighing in relief to what he saw.

He gently pushes the door open and closes it behind him. Up ahead sits a cage, a small figure in side with a dangling ceiling lamp hanging to provide some light. The figure must've heard the noise because they turned their head, causing Jungkook to feel a sense of massive relief.

There he is.

The man behind the cage seems as if he didn't believe his eyes at first as the angel approaches him. He grips the bars of the cage and stares at Jungkook in disbelief, "J-Jungkook?"

Jungkook blinks at him, bending down to his level, "Hi Taehyung."

No words can describe how bright and wide Taehyung's smile is, how happy his eyes danced to be staring at the angel in front of him with tears beaming them. Jungkook was just as happy, glad to see those puppy brown eyes once again, alive.

"H-How did you find me?" Taehyung asks, his voice husky and nearly cracking due to the lack of using it.

Jungkook moves around the cage to find a way to open the cage, "Your ashes... It lead me here," He tells him, eyes focusing on the lock but he's unable to open it.

He needs a key.

"My ashes?"

The angel hums and scours the room to land his eyes on a box sitting on a table. He approaches it and slowly opens it, revealing a key.

A little sketchy that the key would be out in the open, but it's worth a try.

He turns back to the cage and inserted the key, nearly crying in joy when it opened. Taehyung crawls out the small space and slowly rises to his feet. Jungkook latches his hand to his arm once he notice Taehyung slightly sway to the side. Both men make eye contact, still not believing this is real.

So Taehyung wraps his arms around Jungkook's neck, melting into the other man's body with his. Jungkook gasps to the sudden embrace and glances down at the shaking man, appearing much smaller than usual. With great hesitation, Jungkook wraps his arms around Taehyung's small waist, bringing the other man closer and takes a deep breath.

They've become one.

Taehyung is alive..

Jungkook never thought of how much he needed him until now.

"Jungkook, I'm sorry about killing those men.... I'm so sorry," Taehyung whimpers against Jungkook's chest, "I was so angry.... I felt everything you did At that moment and it pained me so bad... They fucking deserved it," He pulls away and looks up at the him, "But I know you felt bad... I'm sorry if I keep on hurting you."

Jungkook didn't know what to say. He never expected Taehyung to apologize to him, like ever in his life time. Yet here he is, with tears in his eyes, he's apologizing. And he sincerely means it.

Jungkook knows he does.

So he raises a hand to place it against Taehyung's bruised cheek, running his thumb gently against his golden skin, only causing Taehyung to close his eyes and lean against his touch as if it's the best feeling he's ever felt in his life.

Jungkook stares at the fallen angel and sighs, "It's okay.... They did deserve it," To this Taehyung snapped his eyes open in confusion but Jungkook cuts in before he can say anything else, "We should go... Before anyone decides to come here."

Taehyung stares at the angel in admiration and slowly nods, having a heavy feeling in his chest when Jungkook pulled away. The pair quietly moves out the room and while Taehyung was approaching the door to leave, Jungkook stops in the middle of the hallway.

He doesn't want to leave yet.

His eyes slowly moves to down the opposite way, hearing the voices of the mortals as clear as day.

They deserve to die.

"Hey, what are you doing? The exit is this way."

"I know," Jungkook mutters, glancing down the hallway where he hears the mortals talking amongst each other, "You go ahead, I have something to take care of."

Taehyung's furrows his eyebrows and takes a step towards the young angel, "Listen, whatever you are thinking, don't do it. Look they have something. Something I have never seen before. It only takes smear seconds to summon it and trust me, you won't stand a chance and I've tried."

Jungkook observes the fear behind Taehyung's eyes as he says this, his body slightly twitching and slouching to hold himself together. Fallen Angels usually heal just as fast as an angel, so this is definitely odd that he hasn't healed entirely yet. Confliction runs through Jungkook's mind as he stares down at the hallway, wanting nothing more than to banish all those men to the deepest parts of hell like they deserve.

His rushing thoughts soon stop when he feels a hand on his and he is suddenly spinned around to face Taehyung, very closely. The elders hand clasps the youngers jaw firmly, not breaking eye contact.

"Please... Don't do it, please," Taehyung shutters, his hands slightly shaking from his hold, "Take me home... I want to go home Jungkook."

Something inside the angel clicked. Or snapped. Maybe both. All he knows is that Taehyung's guard is fully down, showing his vulnerablitity that he has never seen before. This monster must really be that bad.

Taehyung needs him.

He can't do nothing now.

Slowly Jungkook raised his hands, placing them over Taehyung and provide him with soothing thoughts and comfort. Taehyung's eyes began to beam with tears as he hears the words in his head, letting it burn slightly since his nature is to be evil. But he needs to hear them, no matter how much it burns.

He slowly calmed down and Jungkook slowly nods, "Let's go home," And just like that they both sneaked out the door, but not long before a voice called out to them from the hallway.

They bolted without looking back.
