Chapter Fourteen
I gasped, her cold hands feeling like blocks of ice against my warm skin. Her vice-like grip showed no signs of loosening. Her usually dead blue eyes had changed to a fierce and violent red.
I clawed at my throat, the feeling of suffocation overwhelming me. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't breathe. Needed air. Couldn't breathe. I tried to inhale but her slender fingers were pressing down on my windpipe. Needed air. My eyes watered and I felt like screaming. But that would be irrational. I would loose air quickly and I'd probably get into even more trouble.
Black spots danced in front of my vision and tears were spilling down my cheeks. I struggled to control myself, to meet D0098R's eyes. My urge to scream had increased greatly, but I fought it back. I tried to think clearly and plan an escape. But nothing came to me.
Before I could think of what I was doing, I wrapped my foot around her ankle. I abandoned my feeble attempts to make a plan and fell back to reflexes and instinct.
She didn't notice my nimble movement, far too intent on crushing my breathing system. I pulled back sharply. Her grip loosened as she stumbled slightly. Her eyes still didn't show any emotion or shock.
I grasped the few seconds that it took her to regain her balance, pushing her hands aside and moving away swiftly. I was still in her reach though, and she moved swiftly, pouncing like a lion to grab me again. I dodged narrowly, her hands brushing my waist.
She lay sprawled on the floor for a moment, but that was all I needed. I kicked her in the head. Hard. Sticky blood dripped from her hair, and she grabbed me around the waist before I could kick her again. She pinned me to the floor.
D0098R's fist made contact with my nose, and a sharp pain went through it. I kneed her in the stomach, since I couldn't do much else. She gasped, inhaling sharply and her grip weakened. I pushed her off me, with difficulty since she was far larger and heavier than me.
I punched her hard in the blood-red eye. She screamed. Extremely loudly. I clamped my hands over my ears. The scream was deafening and I was almost positive anyone who listen to it for too long would've gone deaf. I didn't know what she was doing at first but I quickly realised.
She was alerting the rest of the facility.
I pushed her aside, hands still over my ears, but she only stumbled and stopped screaming. I sighed in relief, delighted to have my hands back.
I raced towards the door, determined to get out before she regained her balance but she was far too quick, grabbing my vest. My neck jerked backwards quickly, nearly breaking. I gasped at the sudden stop and twirled around, but she reacted first.
She punched me straight in the gut and I doubled over, gasping. I regained my balance as fast as possible and punched her in the nose. And again. And again. My fist continuously made contact with her face, and she struggled to fight back, even though she was practically on the floor.
I was furious at her for stopping my escape attempt and I wanted to punish her for doing so. My blood was boiling. It was like a white-hot snake, twisting through my veins, encouraging my anger, my fury.
I punched her until blood was dripping out her nose and my fist was covered in the same thing. My fist ached but I ignored it, determined to keep punching her but I heard footsteps outside.
I glanced back at her, one last time. Her eyes were shut and she had gone into a sleep-like trance. I ignored the knot in my stomach, the big ball of guilt and made a break for it.
I flung the door open, not looking back and ran. I banged into several security guards and scientists, and a few Genetically-Modified Humans but I kept on running.
I had to find the door. I had to get out of here. I pushed my already exhausted muscles harder, feeling as though I was running a marathon.
My lungs felt like they were on fire, trying to get as much air as possible to keep me going. My heart was drumming against my chest as if it was trying to leave it and fly away, never to be seen again. I still pushed myself.
The world around me seemed to go blurry, and my head felt like it was as light as a feather. My eyes were watering and some tears were spilling down my cheeks.
I could just about make out some people running towards me and that didn't help with my jumpy nerves. I was pushing too hard. I had just had a fight with something stronger and faster than a normal human, and it had taken it's toll on me. But I kept on going, determined to get to the door.
Had to keep on going, couldn't stop, had to keep on going, couldn't stop, had to keep on go...
That was intentional don't worry, I didn't not finish a chapter and decide, hey, why don't I publish it now? XD you guys probably hate me with all my cliffhangers.
