"I figured we'd meet again Ji," Jeongin snickered.
"Trust me, I wouldn't have been sad if we didn't," Jisung said. The other stared at him for a while with his eyebrows drawn together before he realized that someone else was standing next to him.
Hyunjin, who until now had stood by with a sour expression on his face. J
eongin scoffed. "So you got into his pants?"
"Don't babble Yang, you know that's bullshit."
Jeongin raised an eyebrow, obviously stifling a laugh as he looked Jisung up and down. The way he balled up his fists at his side and his ears turned red. "Is that so?" His tone was calm and provocative.
Chan and Hyunjin looked at each other briefly, exchanging a confused glance.
"If I remember correctly, this fine fellow was," he pointed at Hyunjin.
Blood began to boil inside him. What's his problem? What did I do to that jerk to make him talk to me like that?
"The reason you and I broke up."
Hyunjin's eyes widened. His head whirled to Jisung, who was staring down Jeongin, who didn't seem to care in the slightest.
"It's typical of you to blame your mistakes on other people." Jisung hissed.
"Jisung, what the fuck?"
Jisung clenched his jaw. He continued talking. "Besides, I was nothing but an experiment to you, I honestly thought more of you."
"No, can you shut up for a fucking second?" Jeongin let go of whatever he was holding and moved closer to Jisung. Chan picked the things back up. Hyunjin looked back and forth between everyone involved.
"If you're trying to make yourself look better right now because he's here," Jeongin nodded to Hyunjin, his eyes never leaving the shorter blond. "Then I'm going to assume you didn't tell him anything. You probably weren't planning on telling the poor man about it either?" Jeongin smiled, the smile not reaching his eyes.
Even with the distance, Hyunjin had from the two of them, cold sweat ran down his back. His head began to spin at the words coming out of the other's mouth. What is happening right now?
"But before you say any false things about me, my dear Jisungie, I just want to say..." Jeongin came a little closer, but Jisung didn't back away, staring at the other, hatred... no maybe a hint of thirst for revenge or even disgust in his eyes.
"I wasn't the person who stalked some stranger's account like his life depended on it."
He tapped Jisung's chest with a finger.
"I wasn't the person who lied about everything they did or where they went."
He tapped again, causing Jisung to stagger back a step. Jeongin's voice grew angrier.
"And above all, I was guaranteed not to be the person who didn't even bother to communicate. That, my dear Jisung, was just you."
He spat the last words like poison at Jisung, who lowered his head. Hyunjin was speechless. His head was spinning more. A headache throbbed behind the top of his skull. The fact that they were standing in the middle of the mall didn't help at all.
"Hyunjin, I'm terribly sorry that you fell into the psycho's trap," Jeongin said to the tallest one.
"That's a lie." Jisung interjected.
Jeongin ignored his words and continued. "What are you to him? His friend, his lover, his-"
"Hyunjin, let's go, the boy is crazy." Jisung reached for Hyunjin's sleeve. The man was petrified until now. Everything was spinning inside him, his blood boiling from Jeongin's words.
"Yeah, get lost Jisung, like you always do." Jeongin laughed.
"Do you have to?" Chan put his arm around his partner and pulled him back. Jisung looked like he was two seconds away from smashing Jeongin's face in. His loud breathing resembled that of a small child who didn't get the candy from the store from his mother.
It was annoying Hyunjin.
"Come on, let's go Hyunjin." Jisung pulled harder on the other, his grip painful. He kept pulling until he had torn the other's roots out of the ground, and after a few staggering steps, Hyunjin followed. To be honest it was more like Hyunjin running towards the exit. Loud footsteps. He stomped, swinging the bags in his hand. He would have preferred to kick them into the nearest barrel.
Hyunjin pried Jisung's hand away from him and threw it at the other. "Don't touch me."
Jisung gulped. Hyunjin rushed through the door of the mall. He was on his way to his car, just get out of here. "Hyunjin wait up!" Jisung ran after him.
"Like you'd believe him, I wouldn't do something like that!" He opined.
Hyunjin wordlessly yanked the door to his car open and threw himself into the seat. And without asking, Jisung got in on the other side. The packages were pushed into his lap.
"Jeongin is a psycho, I'm telling you! I don't know why he was there, maybe he's stalking me or-"
"Jisung shut the fuck up!" Hyunjin shouted.
His eyes bore into the void through the windshield. The blond flinched. But he woke up too quickly from the shock and pushed the things of himself into the footwell to look at Hyunjin. "Why are you so angry? I didn't do anything."
Hyunjin turned to face him. Jisung looked at him with wide, innocent eyes.
"What's your problem Jisung?" He asked calmly. "Seriously what is your fucking problem?" Louder now. "What do you think you're doing right now?!" J
isung tilted his head. But his eyebrow twitched slightly and he fumbled with the seatbelt from the car. "I'm not doing anything..."
"Go and manipulate someone else, but stop the bullshit with me!" Hyunjin clenched his hands on his lap. "I mean I didn't even know you had an ex..."
"You didn't ask, besides, it doesn't matter for what we do." Jisung's voice was annoying Hyunjin.
He exhaled loudly. "Yeah, Jisung, you're right about that." He really tried not to completely snap. "But we're not talking about anyone but Yang Jeongin. The one I told you about. The person who's ruining my ratings. And you acted like you had no idea what I was talking about."
He threw his head back against the headrest. His pulse throbbed against his neck and he felt his eye start to twitch. Jisung answered nothing.
"And whatever he said, it's not like I have any comparison of whether it's right or wrong." He suddenly gave a short laugh. "You know what I can imagine? Maybe you two even filmed something together."
Jisung huffed. "What's the point Hyunjin?"
"What's what? If you don't tell me, I can make up the rest, right?"
Jisung threw his hand in the air. "No?!"
"Am I right or not?" Hyunjin didn't want to look at Jisung. The oppressive silence was enough to make him answer for positive. He laughed again, indignantly. "Of course..."
"Why are you like this? Why are you making me explain all this shit, why are you acting like you- ughh." He punched his own leg.
The two's eyes met. Hyunjin's anger stabbed through Jisung. Who opened his mouth before he could think. "Because I fucking like you!"
Hyunjin's eyes widened. But only for a moment. "And that gives you the right to lie. About everything ?"
"I mean it's so stupid to lie about stuff like that, what did you think would've happen if you told me??"
Jisung opened his mouth, then closed it again. Tears gathered in his eyes. "I didn't know what to do okay?!"
"No nothing is okay Jisung!"
"What would you do if you're in a relationship where you're not happy and for some inexplicable reason you're attracted to someone on a screen?"
"Talk to my partner?! Jisung how stupid are you? Are you just pretending to be?" The first tear ran down Jisung's cheek. Hyunjin shook his head. "Don't even try, I'm not falling for that."
"It's not my fault I like you!"
"You could have just asked me or something. Like other, normal, people!" Hyunjin's chest clenched with the uneasy feeling of betrayal.
—
Silence filled the car.
Jisung was still crying softly. Hyunjin had his arms crossed in front of his chest and was fidgeting with his leg.
"You were the person who started this..." Jisung muttered, more to himself.
"Excuse me?"
"You're the one who texted me first!"
"You got to be joking right now..." Hyunjin looked at him for a while as if to see if Jisung was serious. But as he sat facing him with the pout on his face, he just shook his head. "That's what you do when you find someone attractive and want to talk to them. You don't stalk him and lie to him."
"Nobody said I was stalking you."
"See? And you're lying again."
"Hyunjin, you bastard!"
"What did I do to you?"
"You're-you're on Jeongin's side." At this point, it was just a mess of screaming at each other
Hyunjin groaned and threw his head on his steering wheel, the horn sounding for a moment. "You realize I have feelings too, right?"
Jisung faltered. "Of course."
"Then why do you act like the whole world revolves around you and everyone is so unfair and mean to you?"
"I'm not!"
Hyunjin wanted to slap the other for his stubbornness. "Right, and that's why you think I'm on Jeongin's side. I don't even know the guy. Besides that, he's my enemy," he drew quotation marks in the air. "And I'm on my own side."
Jisung was about to say something, but one look from Hyunjin was enough to make him shut up.
"Do you know how shitty it feels when you have to be told by someone else, a stranger, about what's happening? Just because the other person thinks they're somehow smarter than everyone else?"
"I wanted to tell you, I really did!"
"And I'm supposed to believe that now? Honestly every word of what we talked about that moment can be a lie."
Jisung took the other's sleeve, more and more tears falling. "Hyunjin I really like you, I'm sorry-"
"I don't want to hear it." And he pulled his hand away. "And I told you not to touch me."
He put the key in his car. The engine howled. "I'll drop you off at the next bus stop," he said monotonously. Then he drove off.
—
Jisung kept trying to apologize to Hyunjin. Staring at him with swollen eyes, he saw pure anger flowing from the other.
The car stopped close to the bus stop with screeching tires. "Out." Hyunjin didn't even look at him. " Get out!"
Jisung flinched and hurried out of the car. "You can take that shit, I don't want it." Hyunjin almost threw the bags at him and slammed the car door behind Jisung.
The car drove away again. Jisung knelt on the ground and began to collect the things. Meanwhile, he watched the car leave. How his whole future was driving away from him.
( this was intense to write, what do ya think ? )
